We're looking for Mumsnetters from a range of locations to try the service from Deliveroo - the food delivery service from local restaurants. If selected, you’d need to sign up to Deliveroo, and your account would be credited with £40 which you can use to test it out.

We’re looking for Mumsnetters who are keen to test the service in one of the following ways:

  • As a ‘date night takeaway’ at home with your partner while the kids are in bed.
  • As a fun feast night for the whole family.

Here’s what Deliveroo have to say: "We're interested in hearing what you think about Deliveroo, and how we can make dinner easier for you. Whether it's feeding the family, or bringing something special home, share your thoughts and let us know how we can help."

If you are selected, we will require you to test Deliveroo service between Wednesday 8th June and Wednesday 22nd June, so please only apply if you are around and happy to arrange a Deliveroo delivery for yourself during this time.

If selected, you’d need to leave a comment on a feedback thread on Mumsnet. All who post their feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

If you'd like to take part please add your details here. Please check that Deliveroo is available in your area by entering your postcode here before you apply

We will be in touch with the selected testers as soon as possible.

Thanks

Please note that Deliveroo prides itself on ensuring that the food reaches you in the best condition. As a result, you will only be able to receive service from Deliveroo if you are within 2.6km to 3km of one of their restaurants. This is because Deliveroo never want your food to have to travel with the driver for more than 5 minutes. Therefore, Deliveroo is not available in all locations yet, but their service is expanding all the time, so do keep an eye out in your area!

Not available here, just outside Coventry :(

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 27/05/2016 16:57

CointreauVersial: I was thinking much the same. If I was 5 minutes from wagamamas I'd just go to wagamamas. I wouldn't bother with delivery.

se22mother · 27/05/2016 17:54

Fingers crossed you pick me please

Elianna · 27/05/2016 19:14

Fingers crossed, I live right in the middle of Central London, so they definitely deliver here!

RaeSkywalker · 27/05/2016 19:27

Not available here- I live in a big town an hour outside London. Not exactly the back of beyond.

BoxofSnails · 27/05/2016 19:59

Nor here - northern city.

Maiyakat · 27/05/2016 21:46

I'm not convinced by the website postcode search - I've just put in the postcodes of several central London branches of Wagamama and nothing has come up...

SymphonyofShadows · 27/05/2016 22:44

I'd sign up as they recently opened in my area but they don't deliver to my bit. Perhaps they should make sure they can actually cover an area before promoting the arse out of it on social media?

Cataline · 28/05/2016 08:22

Not here either!

INeedNewShoes · 28/05/2016 08:29

I thought the same Symphony

They say they want people from a 'range' of locations. What range is that? 3 mile radius from Fulham Broadway, 3 mile radius from Maida Vale and 3 mile radius from Manchester City Centre?

Yes, that'll give them a broad range of people for their trial Confused

Maybe any publicity is good publicity but the overriding thing we've learned from this thread is that the vast majority of people don't live in range of the service being offered. They would have been better to list available locations in their advert upfront. Humph!

StrawberrytallCake · 28/05/2016 09:13

Or....they record all postcodes everyone has entered into their site and will analyse and work out where the next best place to open would be! Presuming there are enough takeaways locally.

I live in a smallish town and they deliver here so It really does look like they are expanding past cities.

Fillybuster · 28/05/2016 11:26

Fingers crossed,

sleeponeday · 28/05/2016 19:48

I'm quite excited by this - DS loathes going out to eat but loves the food at about 4 of the places who deliver to us, so it could square a tricky circle for us. And the toddler is a menace at a lot of restaurants after an hour, so we'd actually be able to eat without racing through so we finish before her patience does. It'd be really interesting to see how effective the service is, in fact.

sleeponeday · 28/05/2016 19:51

I live in a medium sized town in the south-west edges of the midlands. It's probably about 6 miles in diameter. Hardly a metropolis. It has 20 odd places listed at the moment. Most are chains, but good chains - a handful are decent local mid-range places.

shazzarooney999 · 28/05/2016 19:53

would love to try this xx

Ughnotagain · 28/05/2016 19:57

I'm not convinced that Deliveroo statement is accurate tbh.

I live just within 3km of one of the available restaurants and they don't deliver to my house.

Lunar1 · 28/05/2016 20:02

The don't deliver to me either, despite advertising in my area.

EddieStobbart · 28/05/2016 20:12

Am confused by this. I live 2 miles from the centre of a major city, often see a Deliveroo bike around and several of the the restaurants listed are close to me. However, Deliveroo don't cover my area. It seems a bit strange as a few are places where I would expect to do takeaway and I would definitely think a delivery to my address would be reasonably "local".

Am wondering if I could just ask the places that don't normally do takeaway to prepare something off the menu for me and I'll nip over on my bike and collect it - would never have occurred to me to do that before. Or I could just cycle for the five minutes it takes me to get to my nearest "Cook"...

EddieStobbart · 28/05/2016 20:18

Am 1.6km to nearest restaurant (and under 3km to lots more). Ah well, it's 7 minutes on my (push) bike!

MarvinKMooney · 29/05/2016 08:36

They deliver in our area and no way are we a 5 min delivery time from the restaurants available to us. We have used Deliveroo before and it each time it has been delivered on push bikes. We're a good 15 min cycle from the centre of our town - could explain why the food needs heating up again once it gets here ...

SymphonyofShadows · 29/05/2016 12:15

I use Just Eat, they have some really nice local restaurants on there including an award winning 'posh' indian. I don't need another delivery service, especially one with a gimmick that literally doesn't deliver.

AdrenalineFudge · 29/05/2016 14:37

Has anyone mentioned their dodgy reputation? Their deliverers are revolting being paid much less than the minimum wage.

chanice · 29/05/2016 21:43

Yes, my hubby worked for them. You get paid £7 an hour +£1 delivery + petrol. Sometimes you only get £7 sometimes you get £10+.
You are registered as self employed and have to pay for your own moped, insurance and matainence.
You also don't get a break to go to the toilet or to eat.
They can drop your hours down whenever they feel like it for whatever reason.
They are great though if you want to work locally and by yourself. If a customer doesn't answer the door after you have been there for 20min and Deliveroo has phoned them and tried to locate them, you get to keep the food.

byjimminey · 30/05/2016 11:32

Pick me, pick me!

I hope it isnt true that the drivers get less than minimum wage!

Shantotto · 30/05/2016 16:59

Chanice - they have to wait for someone to answer the door for 20 minutes?!
