If you're hoping to spruce up your home in time for the festive period, Valspar is looking for 150 Mumsnetters to test their 2.5L Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint.

Here's what they say, "Often it's hard to keep your home spick and span with little ones running around, especially when hosting a large family at Christmas time, but the Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint is set to stand the test of time with its maximum durability credentials. Our easy to clean premium paint includes a super-scrub formula and undergoes vigorous scrub testing to ensure the paint won't fade or chip off when cleaned, making it durable for your family home. This high quality paint allows walls to be wiped down and scrubbed clean once the festivities come to an end, without compromising on colour.

"As well as being available in a variety of finishes, including matt, mid-sheen and gloss, the Valspar unique colour matching technology can replicate any colour the eye can see - that's 2.2 million shades! Choose a colour that's personal to you and your family - be it the shade of a festive Christmas bauble, or a favourite ornament, simply take the item to your local B&Q and its exact colour can be scanned and recreated in paint form."

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters who would like to add a splash of colour to their homes. Mumsnetters must be available to trial the product and give their feedback by the end of November.

Selected testers will be sent a voucher for Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint and a Harris roller and tray set and a Harris brush by 15th November. Testers will be required to use the product to paint a room or a feature wall in their home and provide their feedback on a feedback thread on Mumsnet and complete a short feedback survey. Testers will also be asked to share pictures of their completed room transformations by the end of November.

Everyone who gives feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks
MNHQ

I got the paint and the brushes but not the roller set. In my nearest B&Q (Watford) they had gazillions of rollers from their obviously preferred brand of Diall but hardly anything by Harris. What they had wasn't the Icon range.

Did anyone else find that getting the paint was a massive faff too? It took ages and there was a huge queue. I've had to opt for white as there isn't enough to repaint much so I've chosen to paint over a feature wall. It means that I'll have to refresh the white on the other walls but it will be with much less expensive Dulux or Crown.

pottymummy · 18/11/2015 10:48

I can't get hold of the roller set unless i go to a superstore apparently. This is most irritating. I don't really want to drive 30 miles. Gah.

mrsronswanson · 18/11/2015 11:12

Went to our local big store this morning at 8am. Easy to get the paint mixed as it was really quiet. The roller and brushes took a bit of finding, but got them in the end. The vouchers went through no problem. I think I've been lucky!

RingDownRingUp · 18/11/2015 11:59

Got mine this morning at my local store.

The brushes and roller were very easy to find.
The paint was mixed in just a couple of minutes. The lady who did it for me was incredibly excited and enthusiastic to see my voucher as she'd been told about the MN/Valspar link up. She took photos of my vouchers and paint!

The only problem was when I came to pay for my other items. The scanner at the checkout wouldn't accept the vouchers initially and the lady serving didn't have a clue what to do. She kept asking me for my trade card Confused. Got there in the end though.

I've changed my plans as to which wall I'm going to paint as one small tub isn't enough to do the hallway I originally signed up with. It will be a tiny bit of my landing instead.

HairyLittleCarrot · 18/11/2015 12:00

Am I the only poster who got no email and no voucher? Whose toes did I tread on?
Sad

bigsnugglebunny · 18/11/2015 12:33

I didn't get picked either. I presume other people who signed up and didn't get picked won't be posting on here.

I'll be keen on seeing how people get on because I have a load of decorating to do in the new year, so it'll be great to see if the paint is any good.

I was so excited to be picked for this! Like others, I've needed to change my plans a bit due to the size of the paint can. So I am gout to re a no the airing cupboard, b which is a right old state. It is going to become fresh and bright.

I went to B&Q today, the Valspar woman was lovely, I got the paint, and the brushes, but no rollers. Oh well. I 5 are it there will be another thread for more feedback? I LOVED the wall of paint colours, and I really really loved the light box so I could check how my selected paint colours looked in daylight/fluorescent light/energy saving light bulb.

I am now going to prepare my surfaces...

AngelieMumsnet · 18/11/2015 17:16

Sorry to hear that some of you have had trouble getting your roller sets – Valspar intentionally arranged for them to be in all stores but unfortunately some have not made it. Valspar have kindly offered to post some directly to those of you who have had issues purchasing them in-store. If you had problems, please send me a PM saying which store didn't stock them and we will organise for a roller/brush set to be sent to you.

waitingforgodot · 18/11/2015 17:27

No I didn't get picked either. You win some, you lose some! Good luck everyone who got picked x

AIN · 18/11/2015 20:37

Do we have to do the colour we originally said? I'm thinking of choosing a different room to make sure it all gets covered in one tin.

RubySparks · 18/11/2015 20:48

Picked up paint, brushes and roller on Sunday with no problems at all, other than ending up spending extra on a new rug and cushions that will hopefully match newly painted room! Hoping to do all the room as it is a small room with a low ceiling, I've gone for 'Morning Sun' as there is only one small window so want to brighten it up.

heymammy · 18/11/2015 20:57

I got the vouchers on Saturday and went to b&q today to get everything. I decided to colour match a F&B colour, which the paint lady said she does all. the. time Wink so we had a giggle about that. She was so interested in my vouchers and enthusiastic...I've to go back and let her know how it looks!

Got the brushes and rollers no problem, well, actually, they do take a bit of looking for, only because there are so many to choose from. The vouchers scanned no problem, the paint lady followed me to the till to tell the till lady what was going on Blush. Can't wait to get the paint on the walls now. Masking tape is on so will start tomorrow.

AGrinWithoutACat · 18/11/2015 21:05

I got the paint today Smile the Inverness store were fab about it, they didn't have the rollers in stock but gave me an upgraded set instead!! and they plan to get some of the ones from the voucher in as well but said it might take a couple of weeks

There was a lady getting trained in Valspar mixing when I was in so I have her very first paint pot, she hadn't heard of mumsnet until today but said she would come on for a look (waves hello)

We are away this weekend but now organised to paint next week

Will there be an official feedback thread to post pictures and experience to?

Minisoksmakehardwork · 19/11/2015 10:51

Picked up paint and brushes yesterday. Our local store doesn't stock the icon roller, couldn't get it in and said that they weren't allowed to swap it for another set of the same brand.

Our nearest store which stocks them is about 20 miles away so it looks like we won't be getting them unless I know someone who is going that way.

Quite disappointing really but not the end of the world as we already have other rollers at home. However, it does mean we can't product test them.

We did purchase another can of paint to allow us to complete the room we want to do. The children were really interested in the mixing process - watching the colours which made our chosen one on the computer screen, and watching it being mixed together! They weren't so keen on the choice of Brussel Sprout though.

Dh is quite keen to see how scrubbable the paint is once we've done. It's going to have to be a wall an evening job though as unfortunately time off work for dh is now limited when we've no dc about. But it will give us a good comparison between what we had and what we're getting.

SymphonyofShadows · 19/11/2015 13:19

I've got one coat up. I will be interesting to see how the second coat covers as its going over quite a dark shade. I am literally watching paint dry!

slicedfinger · 19/11/2015 15:48

Very excited! I went to a giant B&Q today to get the paint. I had an old F&B colour chart with me, which the assistant scanned. I liked it that it is now registered on their system for if we ever want more.

It caused a bit of a stir going through the check out! The couple behind me were particularly interested and keen to see if they could join in too Grin

I might try to get started this evening, but more likely the weekend.

SymphonyofShadows · 19/11/2015 15:58

I need to do one more quick coat but it went a lot further than expected as I am doing white covering up an ill-chosen purpley grey. the wall (about 3 metres long) has had 2 coats and there is still about half the can left. I liked the way the first coat sort of 'gripped' the wall, if that makes sense?

I'm hoping there will be enough left to do the front of the fireplace, it will be covering white so fingers crossed.

ZombiesAteMyBaby · 19/11/2015 19:43

Got my vouchers today. Xmas Grin Going to go to B&Q over the weekend and make a start on Monday. DD2 is very excited about choosing the colour for her room.

TheOriginalWinkly · 19/11/2015 19:51

Got the paint and the brushes yesterday - no rollers in Braintree. I bought an extra tin as I was planning on doing contrasting walls, two light blue and two light grey. Looking forward to seeing it go up on the walls :)

NoSquirrels · 19/11/2015 23:19

Very helpful staff in my B&Q today - as others have said, no rollers in stock, but I got the paintbrushes and LOADS of colour chips, and they'll call me when they've managed to get the rollers in from the next nearest store (because a staff member lives over that way so will pick one up - very helpful indeed!)

Now just need to choose the colour, take some photos, clear the room, do the prep work, prime the bare plaster, sand and prime the woodwork... I may be some time!

lorka · 20/11/2015 12:07

Went in to my local B&Q today and picked up the brushes and lots of samples of the colours to look at in the room. No rollers but the staff were really lovely and helped me look for them and checked stock status. Smile
