If you're hoping to spruce up your home in time for the festive period, Valspar is looking for 150 Mumsnetters to test their 2.5L Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint.

Here's what they say, "Often it's hard to keep your home spick and span with little ones running around, especially when hosting a large family at Christmas time, but the Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint is set to stand the test of time with its maximum durability credentials. Our easy to clean premium paint includes a super-scrub formula and undergoes vigorous scrub testing to ensure the paint won't fade or chip off when cleaned, making it durable for your family home. This high quality paint allows walls to be wiped down and scrubbed clean once the festivities come to an end, without compromising on colour.

"As well as being available in a variety of finishes, including matt, mid-sheen and gloss, the Valspar unique colour matching technology can replicate any colour the eye can see - that's 2.2 million shades! Choose a colour that's personal to you and your family - be it the shade of a festive Christmas bauble, or a favourite ornament, simply take the item to your local B&Q and its exact colour can be scanned and recreated in paint form."

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters who would like to add a splash of colour to their homes. Mumsnetters must be available to trial the product and give their feedback by the end of November.

Selected testers will be sent a voucher for Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings Paint and a Harris roller and tray set and a Harris brush by 15th November. Testers will be required to use the product to paint a room or a feature wall in their home and provide their feedback on a feedback thread on Mumsnet and complete a short feedback survey. Testers will also be asked to share pictures of their completed room transformations by the end of November.

Everyone who gives feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

If you're interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks

Voucher arrived today! Have been and got paint but had to order the brushes and tray as my local store didn't stock them.

Have had bare plaster so long - very excited about getting colour on some walls soon!!

piggyliggy2015 · 14/11/2015 19:36

Sent my husband to get the paint, roller/tray and brushes - luckily he managed to grab the last set of brushes. Painting day tomorrow!

BrandNewAndImproved · 14/11/2015 23:07

Yey I'm in to, however I said I wanted to paint my hallway upthread but won't have enough paint for that and want to do my bathroom instead. I've emailed MN about it so hope that will be ok. Will be getting the paint tomorrow.

What sort of ideas has everyone got?
I'm going a really dark blue in my bathroom.

InMySpareTime · 15/11/2015 07:57

I'm planning to make a skyscape on the ceiling with some goblin blue. Now I just need to find the time to get to B&Q...

onadifferentplanet · 15/11/2015 11:06

Got the paint today but no joy with either the brushes or the roller set. In fact the 'really helpful' assistant in B and Q told us that neither of the things we want exist and so he can't order them in either. Anyone else had this problem?

prettybird · 15/11/2015 12:45

I'll have to change my plans too: have had the email but not the letter yet but more importantly, had not registered that it was only a 2.5l tin that would only cover 25sq.m. Given my walls are over 4m high, that would barely one wall - even the smallest wall is 4.5+m wide, so over 18sq.m.

Am now debating whether just to do a feature wall in the room I'd mentioned (but it already has a dark colour on it, so would need 2 coats Hmm) or do one wall in the hallway.

mrsronswanson · 15/11/2015 12:50

Got my letter yesterday, thank you, and have been to get tester pots so my son can decide what colour to go for. Hope the brushes etc are easy to find in-store.

NoisyOyster · 15/11/2015 14:56

yup…. bit jealous of previous poster who said her b and q would order in the brushes for her… my local b and q said "no rollers, no they can't order them in, go elsewhere"

errrrr…..?????? Sad

glenthebattleostrich · 15/11/2015 15:01

Won't be able to get to b & q until Saturday but will be painting on Sunday. Enjoying looking at the colours on offer though.

Theimpossiblegirl · 15/11/2015 19:29

Thanks for selecting me. I got the letter before the email. Went to the big B&Q at Cribbs Causeway and they stocked the brushes and rollers too.

DD loved watching the machine mix up the paint.

DH is going to start tomorrow. Lucky for us he has a few days off. I'm sure he thinks I made the product test up.

supermariossister · 16/11/2015 12:38

Picked up my paint today and the Harris brush set the store didn't stock the roller pack so said that was unavailable. The lady at the mixing station was helpful and it was a really easy transaction through the till. Will be starting either tonight or tomorrow.

cuddles159 · 16/11/2015 12:48

received my vouchers today...so looking forward to using the paint and decorating before Christmas...thank you for picking me :)

HairyLittleCarrot · 16/11/2015 13:08

Just me that didn't get an email or a voucher then?

Right ho.

sleepyhead · 16/11/2015 13:27

Does anyone know how much a 2.5l tin of the paint costs? I also didn't quite appreciate when I signed up that it wouldn't be enough for a room (fair enough), but I don't want a feature wall so want to do the whole room at once.

Oddly there don't seem to be any prices on the B&Q website which is a bit worrying - is it similar in price to Dulux? I'm an own brand paint buyer usually, although I always curse and say I'm getting the decent stuff next time, so I want an idea of what the likely outlay will be, especially if I also have problems redeeming the brush & roller vouchers and have to buy them as well.

Not that I'm not extremely grateful because I am!

NoSquirrels · 16/11/2015 13:35

I painted my living room recently with Valspar premium. Yes, equivalent to Dulux prices I would say. It went on in one coat, with a little bit of patching here and there - was very pleased with the coverage. So hopefully, although they are advising two coats, if it's a straightforward painting job (i.e. not dark to very pale) it should be OK in one-coat. That's what I'm hoping, anyway, as I'm only spending the voucher I'm afraid, being too skint to buy more...

sleepyhead · 16/11/2015 13:42

Oh that's good. I'm going from magnolia to a very pale yellow so maybe one coat will be enough - it's not a big room.

rupert23 · 16/11/2015 14:08

got my paint roller and brushes so im going to paint on thursday. Really looking forward to it! The brushes and roller were in stock so it looks like i was very lucky. My paint cost £27 and i chose Scottish highlands which is a lovely green cant wait to start making it look nice its so awful at the moment. I hope i have enough paint for three walls if not i will have to buy a small pot to finish. The lady in B and Q was very helpful and found me the right brushes and roller and mixed the paint for me.

supermariossister · 16/11/2015 14:30

Yep £27 for the 2.5l tins. I have gone for rushing red hoping it warms up the room abit.

BettyOctopus · 16/11/2015 15:22

Thank you for picking me! We went Saturday and picked everything. Coupons didn't work but it was solved eventually :). On with the painting!

florencebabyjo · 16/11/2015 15:45

Great, I got my voucher today too, will check out the paint tomorrow

star1000 · 16/11/2015 18:32

Just wanted to mention that none of my vouchers worked, had a nightmare time in B&Q trying to sort it out as they didn't know anything about them and it took 8 members of staff to sort something out and let us through the tills with our goods!!
On the plus side tried the tester pot on the wall and coverage is great and we are using lighter on a darker colour so quite impressed so far. Full tin going on at weekend!

Sixgeese · 16/11/2015 19:08

I got the paint and brushes / roller set in Enfield B&Q today, all went through smoothly. I did have to ask an assistant to help me locate the correct rollers set and I wasn't offered a mid-sheen finish just a choice of silk or matt, but no problems at the till after I suggested they scan the voucher. I did get a very funny look though when it came up as a zero amount to pay.

Now I just have to clean and clear DD1s room and start painting.

PinkSquash · 16/11/2015 22:11

I managed to get all the items on Sunday, but it took 45 minutes and several members of staff to a) locate the correct items and b) figure out how to use the vouchers!

Staff were utterly brilliant and couldn't apologise enough but they should have had notification on how to use the vouchers, it's not nice to drop them on staff with no knowledge of what to do.

Am looking forward to trying the paint, we're going out of usual comfort zone of neutrals so this is quite a challenge.

The tester cards are pretty much what the paint looks like on the wall - unlike other brands where you buy the tester and the paint comes out a completely different colour to the card! So you could just grab lots of cards and take them home to match against your wall
