This is the feedback thread for the 20 Mumsnetters who tried the Kenwood kCook.

Here’s what the people at Kenwood say, “Whipping up a one-pot wonder for your family has never been easier thanks to the new kCook cooking food processor from Kenwood which not only chops and stirs, but also cooks delicious dishes at the touch of a few buttons. All this, plus a fantastic specially-developed recipe app to provide a little inspiration at every meal time, makes the kCook the new must-have kitchen essential.

The three bowl tools coupled with the app make the laborious tasks of thinking up a meal, preparing ingredients and endlessly stirring over a hot stove a thing of the past. Simply follow one of over 200 recipes available on the app, or adapt them to your taste using the kCook’s manual modes which allow the speeds and temperatures to be changed.”

Testers, we’d like you to answer the below questions:

Q1. How would you describe the kCook to friends or family who had never heard of it before? What was your overall impression of it?

Q2. How easy, or not, did you find to use the kCook? What time saving tips did you find when using the kCook?

Q3. What family meals did you create with the kCook? Did they go down well with your family? We’d love it if you could post some pictures of your dishes on this thread.

Q4. Did you use the Kenwood recipe app? If so, what did you think of it? Did you discover new recipes you hadn’t tried before?

Q5. If it came up in conversation, do you think you’d recommend the kCook to friends and family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Non-testers, what’s your favourite dish to make in a food processor? Everyone who adds their thoughts to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win their own kCook.

Thanks
MNHQ

I love to make hummus - so much cheaper and nicer than the pots you get in the supermarket, also good to play around with flavourings.

I also like to whizz up onions, carrots and celery as a base for mince dishes. Takes all the hard work out of preparation and sneaks extra veggies in Grin

Non-tester: I use my food processor to make pastry, which I then use to make a quiche or tarts!

I love making the slimming world fakeaway fried chicken, although i usually chop the wholemeal bread to make crumbs by hand - a food processor would do just the trick and make this job so much easier!

Creamy Mushroom and Corn soup is my favourite but I never own a Food processor so not sure if it would still give me the same taste!!!!! And I am really tempted to try Chettinad Chicken Curry in it! :) Will it make a Creamy chicken Curry to go with Rice! (Dribbling already)...

Anyone having trouble with the app? Mine won't open. That's a big downside that recipes aren't online as well as want to cook the aubergine caviar but can't find the recipe :(

I don't actually own a food processor so I'd love to win one. I love to bake my own original recipes. My most recent is a sticky toffee apple cake which went down well with my friends & neighbours

Apps finally working

Feel like I'm constantly moaning but...

Recipe is for 2 aubergines, can only fit 1 in steamer basket
Recipe has 3 tbsp olive oil on ingredients but method doesn't mention it. Assume I add it when chopping the aubergine?!

App has not been working for me either but it gives me an option to 'stay offline' so I said yes and I was able to access the recipes ok that way. As you say though, if the app is not working for some reason you are kind of stuffed!!

Q1. How would you describe the kCook to friends or family who had never heard of it before? What was your overall impression of it?

I would say it's an all in one slow cooker and saucepan that stirs, with elements of a food processor. I have never owned a food processor. I think it looks great, quite stylish and very neat.

Q2. How easy, or not, did you find to use the kCook? What time saving tips did you find when using the kCook?

I found it a bit faffy, but I am not used to food processors so that might be me just getting used to it. Kept having to refer to the manual. I love that something does the chopping for me, but I haven't quite got the hang of how to get chunkier pieces yet. My coleslaw was chopped very finely. Love the stirring too, soo much better than standing at the hob.

Q3. What family meals did you create with the kCook? Did they go down well with your family? We’d love it if you could post some pictures of your dishes on this thread.

So far I have made Coleslaw which wasn't a great success and I got in a bit of a mess with teeny tiny bits of veg all over the place, and it was too fine, but i need to have another go maybe. Family weren't overly keen.

Cheesecake-tasted fab, but the consistency was mousse and wasn't firm enough. It got eaten. Grin Great for bashing the biscuit base up!

Best yet was the tomato soup. It was lovely and DH agreed. You could hear it stirring and cooking. Very nice consistency.

Q4. Did you use the Kenwood recipe app? If so, what did you think of it? Did you discover new recipes you hadn’t tried before?

All 3 recipes so far have been from the app. Another first for me because I am not a great app user usually. But managed to follow the recipes so far. Never made my own coleslaw before.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, do you think you’d recommend the kCook to friends and family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I like it, but I think it will take some getting used to having never had a food processor before.I would probably say it's nice to have I just think everyone would go 'How much?!!' when I told them how much it was.

Non-tester:
Nutroast. My recipe has gluten free breadcrumbs in so I use it to crumb the bread. Then I use whole nuts which I whizz up in the food processor. And it is used to whizz up the final mixture.

I actually use my food processor for loads of things but have chosen nutroast as my favourite as we enjoy eating it often and it would be quite hard work to make without one.
