Weight watchers are steeling again

lunar1 · 07/01/2015 06:12

Weight watchers have taken an unauthorised payment from my account again. I am now overdrawn and won't be able to access my account to transfer money I time today to stop me being charged.

I hope that mumsnet is honest when posting feedback for this company, I don't want to see their dishonest business practices glossed over. They are untrustworthy and I feel very strongly that your review has to reflect that.

I got a PM, it said a refund was on its way, normally takes a few working days to reachu bank so will expect it next week some time.

Thanks for sorting it Angelie.

Ledkr · 09/01/2015 22:16

Yes it's happened to me too.
I wish I'd never signed up for the "free trial" I think they are a bunch of crooks and I will never ever use them.
I'm also disappointed with mumsnet who although are extremely helpful and efficient in dealing with this have not in my opinion shown any disapproval in the direction of weight watchers and have remained impartial.

tootiredtothink · 09/01/2015 22:18

Hope they've refunded bank charges too?

Ledkr · 09/01/2015 22:20

Yes they should.
I cannot understand mnets passive stance on this.

Mintyy · 09/01/2015 22:25

How did they get access to your bank accounts? Confused

Ledkr · 09/01/2015 22:30

It was a mn trial *minty+
We were told to give bank details but that nothing would get taken out.
I've had 3lots taken now, even during the "free" period.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/01/2015 22:33

Why would they need bank details if it was free?

Bad form MN, and WW.

Most companies when you do an MN trial, send you the thing you are trialling and freebie IME!

Refunds plus compensation for the error, and a refund of any charges incurred should be happening as standard, surely?

Mintyy · 09/01/2015 22:37

I would be incandescent with rage if it happened to me, but doubt I would have signed up to anything that asked for my bank details in the first place. It just seems extremely bizarre. What reasons were given for that?

I'd definitely Tweet about this if I were a Tweeter.

Ledkr · 09/01/2015 22:50

We queried it at the time but I guess we just wrongly trusted mn to ensure nothing was untoward.
To be fair they keep sorting it out but seem incapable of criticising weight watchers. That's what I find most odd.
I think I will tweet yes.
It's very wrong and if have at least liked an apology and those who have been charged should definitely be compensated.

lunar1 · 09/01/2015 22:58

I think we should be allowed to complete our product test, MN closed the review thread when people started posting about being charged again.

Let's be honest, these product trials are probably mn being paid by companies to promote their product. There is no way they are going to feature our opinions of weight watchers on here is there!

Ouch.

MNHQ?

LostTeacher · 09/01/2015 23:16

This is absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe the time it's taken for MN to sort this out. If I had a payment taken out of my account today (I didn't sign up for the product test luckily) I literally wouldn't be able to feed my family this weekend or next week.

I really hope this is sorted and I hope people post their experiences elsewhere to let people know how bad Weight Watchers have been, but also MN too.

Ledkr · 10/01/2015 00:14

Mm showing disloyalty to us I feel.
We should tweet a link to the thread.
Can't believe the teview thread was closed.
Censorship!!

lunar1 · 10/01/2015 00:39

I thought of tweeting ww, but that would out me!!

Shock
MaMaMarmoset · 10/01/2015 00:50

Why would weightwatchers need your paypal info? That seems ridiculous on their part if you were never meant to be charged!?

MaMaMarmoset · 10/01/2015 00:52

Maybe post on chat and see if any twitter users can tweet? You won't be personally outed this way? Also you probably aren't the only one this has happened to you, others might not have noticed yet.

notapizzaeater · 10/01/2015 00:55

It's bad enough they've taken the money and for my not to step,in and resolve it. At the least mn should have offered to pay whilst they sort it out in the background.

Ledkr · 10/01/2015 07:02

Man should also have publicly condemned ww actions too.
I asked several times for mn to comment on it but they refused to.
To recap, for a free trial I have had three lots of money taken and had to chase that up each time to get it refunded.
I wonder who else was charged but not noticed it.

lunar1 · 10/01/2015 08:39

I am going to report my next post in the hope I get a response because I didn't to my pm.

It is a blatant lie that I have been refunded. I paid via PayPal so they don't have my bank details. The only way they could refund me is through paypal which would give me instant notification.

So where are the lies coming from, mumsnet or weight watchers? I'm thinking I should post this on a busier board to be honest because the response from mn is pretty unimpressive in this quieter corner.

OP posts:
Ledkr · 10/01/2015 09:11

I'm going to check my refunds today.
It took mn 4 days to reply to my message saying I was charged for the 3rd time.
I demanded that ww destroy my details too.
Let me know if you start a thread.

lunar1 · 10/01/2015 09:29

No reply from mn so I have started an aibu. Hopefully other testers affected will see it if they don't know this has happened again.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/01/2015 09:33

WW can be pretty dodgy and slow about processing refunds. They have a 14 day cool off period in their Ts & Cs, I cancelled in the correct manner within 2 days of starting, I got an email saying that they would process my cancellation, no mention of money back. I had to press them quite hard to actually get my refund.

If you Google weighwatchers refund, there's plenty of bad stuff out there.

I am also pretty shocked about MNs attitude, and can only assume they were leant on by WW. I'm sure I have seen MN product tests on here before that have had negative responses left to stand - see the currwnt Farrow and Ball thread. Some times the company comes on and replies to the negatives.

amistillsexy · 10/01/2015 09:52

I think MN have a moral obligation to help people out financially in this case.

Whatever is going on in behind the scenes talks between MN and WW, they should refund and reimburse costs to individual MNers and then recoup those costs from WW.

It is absolutely disgraceful that families are in financial trouble because of this, and waiting nearly a week (so far) to get their money repaid.

AnnMumsnet · 10/01/2015 10:30

Hi - just to say we are completely aware of this and are working with WW to try and resolve it - we have been in touch directly with Lunar1 about it this morning. Weekends are tricky though because our contacts will not be there.
