I have just tested the milton mini with my DD.
Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I love the look of it (and so does my baby!). It is a great design, looks fun. Easy to set up and put together.
My baby was not so keen on the actual taste/smell of the dummy when it came out of the mini. It does smell quite strongly.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes it's very easy to use, quick to put together.

Yes, it smells very clean which I presume to be sterilised due to the peroxide smell.

It seems expensive but ok if it prevents infections.

Yes I would recommend as a sterilising product for on the move.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product? Yes I have heard of milton, that was the sterilisation method of choice when my Mum had me! I have seen the Milton mini but decided not to buy as it seemed expensive.

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
It was nice-looking and a convenient size. I liked the colour.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
The instructions were clear, and it was easy to set up. However, the process is a bit on the fiddly side and I found that it was one more thing to struggle to do when you're trying to get out of the house with a baby and a toddler. I find it hard enough to manage packing the changing bag and dealing with last-minute poos, without messing around with tiny sterilising tablets and sponges. If I was better organised though, or only had one child, I would probably have got on better with it.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think it did, although I was not certain that the sponge was fully in contact with the teat right up near the mouth guard part.
I am always a little doubtful about using sterilising fluid too and whenever I have used it in the past have then rinsed the bottles in boiling water afterwards. I'm sure it's silly, but I just think - it's a chemical, and if it kills germs so well, is it something I want in my baby's mouth?

It's not a bad price, but you have to take into account replacing the sterilising tablets (only 10 are included). I'm not sure how much they are.

I would certainly let them know about it for consideration, but with the reservations mentioned above.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes, I have used Milton sterilising fluid before for bottles, and I have seen the mini-steriliser for sale in supermarkets before.

Q1) I really liked the Milton Mini. It's a really handy item to have if you r baby uses a dummy. It's shape is big enough that you can easily find it in your bag and is really strong and sturdy.
2) it's really easy to use. I change the water each morning by rinsing the sponge out and adding a tablet then it's good for the whole day.
3) I was a bit concerned about the outer plastic part of the dummy so ensure that I fully immerse the dummy in the water when I put it in. My Mam dummies aren't a brilliant fit but I feel happy that it does the job.
4) I think £6.99 is a fair price, given that dummies are £4.70 a pack.
5) I'd definitely recommend the product to others. It's really effective.
6) I use Milton to sterilise my breast pump so am well aware of the brand.

Looked good and was a convenient size. Nice and light, even when it had the solution in.

Once I worked out which way round the bits went, yes, it was fine.

Yes, but like the poster above I always rinse dummies at home with water as I don't like the thought of the chemicals in my child's mouth.

Yes if it saves buying many dummies in order to always have a clean one when one is dropped when out and about!

Yes, for the reasons above - a useful way to sterilise on the go.

Yes, we use Milton solution to sterilise equipment at home but I had not hears of Minis until I saw them on MN.

Yes, the smell indicates that something has been happening. I always find it amazing that one small tablet can sterilise something!

Yes it is value for money if you rely heavily on dummies. However, thinking about it, before i tested this product i would just take several sterile dummies in their covers with me when going out so can easily give a new one if needed. And if out at a cafe or restaurant and the dummy is dropped i would just ask for some boiling water and sterilise it that way. This steriliser is useful if out somewhere where you cannot get hold of boiling water or don't have spares. In addition, the 15 minute wait for sterilisation can be problematic as the nature of a dummy being a soother often means it is needed straight away and 15 mins is a long time to wait with a screaming baby!

Yes i would recommend it if you were not organised to take spare dummies out with you.

yes we use milton tabs to cold sterilise our bottles and dummies

One other thing i would add is please have another look at your instruction booklet as i spotted several grammatical errors.

I like the design, the pink colour is bright and stylish and I was happy to attach it to my pram when going out.

The product is very easy to use; the instructions were clear and simple to follow, it is easy to prepare the sponges and solution and is easy to clean.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, the design is such that the sponge (and sterilising fluid) touches all the parts on the dummy that needed sterilising and you can smell the solution has cleaned the dummy when it is removed from the device.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes as it makes life easier for busy Mums and anything that does that is worth spending money on!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, several friends & family members asked what the device was after seeing it attached to my pram. I recommended it to them and they were impressed and found the design clever and interesting.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes, I already use the Milton cold water steriliser to sterilise bottles and dummies at night time.

I thought it was a nice colour and shape

I found this very easy to use and now it takes me seconds to change water etc.

I do think it sterilises effectively as could smell the solution on my babies dummy and the way the sponge is designed the dummy sits nicely in the sponge.

Yes it is very good value for money. Reason being is its less hassle having to buy a new dummy every time one is lost but also gives you peace of mind if baby drops the dummy and you need to sterilize it again quickly.

Yes I would. I have all ready recommended it to friends and lots have people have stopped me to ask what it is and does.

Yes I have heard of them and no I was unaware until contacted by mumsnet.

I like it a lot - it's neat, compact and a nice colour!

Yes easy to use, but then I'm used to using Milton steriliser tablets.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, but I would say like other posters I would always prefer to then rinse my baby's dummy in clean water after as it does smell 'chemically' and I don't like the thought of taking the dummy straight out of sterilising liquid and putting it straight into my baby's mouth. Equally I think 15 minutes too long for the sterilising process - if my baby drops his dummy on the floor, I can't exactly say 'wait 15 mins before you can have it back' to him! So I carry a dummy pod around as well with another clean dummy in it, so he can have that one, and sterilise the one he dropped. When sterilised, it then gets popped into the dummy pod. Complicated, but as I have twins it's necessary!

Hmm Yes and no. It's a great idea, I like it a lot, but I think £6.99 is quite expensive when you still have to buy steriliser tablets on top.

Yes I would, it's a useful product.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes indeed, I use a Milton cold water steriliser for my twins and used one for my daughter 7 years ago. And yes, I was aware of this product, although hadn't tried one before.

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
When arrived and I opened the package I liked the look of it. It is a nice green and goes with my Blooming gorgeous nappy bag. It is now taken a proud place on the handle of my buggy, as I do not take the nappy bag to the school run. I like the fact that it has a long enough velcro attachment so it can be attached to most of the things. Clever design! The 4 month old baby likes the look of it and is constantly trying to reach it, but being precautious we do not give it to her.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not? At first it was not easy. I mean you have to read the leaflet it came with. Once the baby was asleep and I read through the page it was clear. However I was a little disillusened by the fact that it doesn't strelise the dummy instantly. May be it is me, but that is what I thought it would do. Hence, I think it is good to have it with a spare dummy in it, in case your baby drops the dummy and you have a sterilised one ready. And the fact that you need to wash the dummy before putting it in it is a little precaution to remember. So now, I wash it every evening put water in it, dissolve the tablet and leave the dummy there. And I notice baby dropping the dummy I take the clean one out and replace it with the dropped one, as it takes at least 15 min to sterilise it.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not? I think the dummy was sterilised. Because of the smell and the squeeky clean look it had. But my baby didn't like slightly bleachy smell at first, but now she doesn't mind.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I think it is a reasonable price for what it is.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? I would recommend it, as a mother we are never prepared enough. And I would buy it as a gift to expectant mums or the ones with newborns. A brilliant idea of a gift in stead of usual clothes that won't even fit sometimes.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product? I heard of Milton before, I knew about their sterilising tablets and used to have them in my nappy bag for my first child. But I did not know about this product. A life saver it is!

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
Compact shape, nice that comes in two different colours, easy to use , however not sure whther i woulse use long term once the tablets run out.

I did find it easy to use and the instructions were simple to understand. However the 15 minutes was quite long to wait so i may continue to just take spares with me but it is good to have as a 'just in case' .

Yes i do not doubt that it sterilised it from the smell.

I would probably prefer it to be around the 3.99 or 4.99 price mark as it is an item i will use occasionally.

I am still on the fence about this. Yes it can be handy if your child uses dummies a lot , but also it can be a hassle to wait the 15 minutes for it to sterilise. But i do think it is an innovative product and theres no others like it in the market.

I had seen the ad for this product on Disney Junior channel and was interesting in trying it as it sounded like a good concept. I have used Milton sterilising fluid before to sterilise bottles when i am travelling or staying with family.

I think it looked good, was easy to use and nice and compact.

Yes, instructions were easy to follow and once I'd done it once it only took seconds.

Yes, the Milton smell made me confident it was sterile.

I think the price is fair although I'm not sure as to wether it's something that would be used longterm or just with a very newborn. I'd definitely consider it as a gift for first time mum's.

Yes, if it was something I thought would appeal to the individual I was talking to. Although most I know just carry spare dummies.

I was aware of Milton as I have used it when staying with my family but had never heard of this product before now.

I like the look of the steriliser and its a good size to pop into a changing bag or attach to buggy. It's relatively simple to use and its great that one tablet allows sterilisation for 24 hours no matter how many soothers you sterilise.

I found it simple to use and clean. No issues with its use.

Yes as its exactly the same as if cold sterilising at home, just more direct to the teat that enters baby's mouth and on a smaller scale.

I think a more reasonable price would be £4.99 especially as you will eventually have to buy more mimi sterilising tablets so that would add to overall costs.

I would if the parents were concerned with keeping babys things clean and sterilised. Also it depends on if their little ones took a soother or not.

It looked stylish and compact. I loved how I could attatch it to the outside of my bag so I could get at it without loosing it.

I was easy to use but I found waiting around for the 15 mins was a pain when you have a screaming baby. My little boy wasn't keen on the smell or taste when it came out either and would pull a face then spit it out.

I felt it did sterilise but that's simply because of the strong cleaning smell.

I think it's expensive but if it does the job then it's worth it as I have never seen anything like it before.

I would yes especially if their little one is like mine and keeps dropping their dummy when out. It does the job and looks good on the changing bag.

I have heard of Milton yes but not this particular product. This is the first time I've used a Milton product.

I think the concept is quite good with regard to cleanliness. It perhaps is a little OTT on the cleanliness thing (for me)

Well, considering you could always just have a spare dummy or two with you, no I probably wouldn't. It's an additional cost.
Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes I've seen some people use them and I use Milton to sterilise breast bump equipment.

In my own opinion I'm not overly cautious (rightly or wrongly) about sterilising all the time. I'd probably end up using it as a place to store the dummy more, which defeats it's object. For those who are really conscious about sterilising and place a lot of importance on doing (perhaps those who who are out and about a lot it could be handy.)

Think it's a bit too pricey, 5.00 would be more suitable.

Yes, it's really handy to use when out and about, I keep a dummy in it all the time now just in case.
Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
I'd seen them on nappy bags but wasn't sure how much and always forgot about it.

1. I think Milton is a reputable and trusted brand. I was enthusiastic about trying the product to see if the USPs were true. I still think it sneaky and tasted of Milton. It would be useful if it indicated when to reinsert a new tablet after 24hours.
2. It's easy to use as the instructions are clear. The only disadvantage is remembering when you inserted the tablet so it does not exceed 24hours
3. Yes I did as it had the bleach-like smell and taste. Plus I left it in for longer than the 15minute minimum time requirement
4. I don't think it should not exceed £5 due to having to buy the tablets, which aren't widely sold
5. Yes as it's quick and easy, plus small enough to fit in my handbag. Once the sterilisation has been set up, it's so handy that it works for 24hours so it can be used routinely whilst being out and about
6. Yes, although I invested in a steam steriliser for my first, it was bulky and not easily transferable so it was easy to use Milton tablets when I visited my parents or stayed away from the home. I was not aware about this product though

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
Very positive. The colour is nice, it is pleasing to look at and easy to carry about either using the strap or just popping it into a bag.

Yes. Instructions were clear so I was able to get it set up. It was then easy to use throughout the day.

I assumed so! As Milton are known for their steriliser products this gave me confidence that it would be effective. There was a smell to the dummy after sterilisation which made me a little concerned initially to give it to my daughter in case I had somehow done something wrong, but she wasn't bothered by it and suffered no ill effects.

I think it's a fair price, although whether or not I would buy another or continue to use it would depend upon the cost of more sterilising tablets.

Assuming the cost of more steriliser tablets was reasonable I would definitely recommend it. Saves the worry when out and about of running out of clean dummies. It was easy to transport and simple to use.

I've got some sterilising tablets by Milton already, and knew the name. I wasn't aware of the dummy steriliser. If I had, I may well have already purchased one.

Yes easy to use. Was unsure whether it would fit the type of dummies used but it did.

Seemed to - however unsure whether would clean parts other than actual teat.

Fairly good - didn't say how long white sponge parts would last however.

Yes - already use their cold water normal sized sterilizing tablets.

Fab green colour (how did you know my pram was green! , thought it looked great. Nice quality plastic, easy to open. Overall, great little product. I was really excited when it arrived and did a silly happy dance - toddler was amused

Personally, i found it a bit of a faff if I'm totally honest. But I have a baby and a 1 yr old, who both use dummies. On stressed out journeys out, it was actually easier just to grab another 'fresh' dummy from my plastic zip up sandwich bag, than wait for the Milton to sterilise. However, having said that, I did then have the original dummies clean and ready to go if they had another mishap! It was great on a long journey.I really didn't like your instructions though. They didn't initially make sense to me (plus lacked a few commas but that's me being a grammar pedant). I did have to read them a few times though, so I think they could have been clearer.

Pretty sure it did because of the smell.

Pretty cheap really when you consider how much dummies are. The only issue to me would be that the tablets are not widely available near to me, so I could see me running out and it being used as a dummy holder (much nicer than my sandwich bags!)

Yes, if it came up I would recommend it. Always handy to have a back up, especially with babies under 1yr old. Great that it works for 24 hours afterwards too. Also a good idea that you can get replacement sponges if they become damaged.

I was totally unaware of this product, but I have heard of Milton and have used a number of their other products.

Q1. I thought it looked good - liked the shape and colour as it looked quite funky, and was looking forward to trying it out.

Q2. Once I had read the instructions properly I found it easy to use. However, as it takes 15 minutes to sterilise a dummy I would have to take a few out with me, as a crying baby who has dropped their dummy doesn't wait patiently. (I tend to take a couple out anyway) Also, as the sterilising solution only stays usable for 24 hours (well that's the idea I got from the instructions) I would either have to fill it up before each outing then maybe wouldn't end up using it, thus wasting the sterilising tablet, or to have access to water to fill it with at the time the dummy was dropped. I also haven't seen any of the mini sterilising tablets in the shops.
Q3. I got the impression that my child's dummy was effectively sterilised as it smelt strong and bleachy. I then had to rinse the dummy as I didn't like the idea of my boy getting the traces of the sterilising fluid in his mouth. The MAM dummies don't fit very well, they tend to pop out so not sure the bit near the handle was totally clean.
Q4. I would have felt it was better value for money if it was £5 or under, due to having to also buy the sterilising tablets.

I thought the design was eye-catching. I liked the long velcro strap- that looked very useful for attaching to the changing bag or buggy handle.

Hmm. I read the instructions, but I haven't felt confident to use it more than once- I am unsure if whether you need to dry the sponges after each use? If you keep the sterilizer filled with water, won't the sponges go stale/mildew? Or does the sterilising solution prevent that? If someone could answer, that would be great

It smelled strongly, so I assume it worked.

For me personally, no. But that is because I haven't felt confident about using it more than once (see above). Plus, you would have to replace the tablets.

I would mention the product to a first time mum who might have the time to experiment with it.

Yes, it is easy to use. I would like the tablet to dissolve quicker, but that's a minor thing. Also it would be great if there was a compartment to keep the tablets in so that everything you need is in one place.

Yes - I guess mostly the smell gives the 'clean' impression.

Yes, it seems very good value. It looks well made/not cheap and does a very important job.

Yes. I have found it useful to be able to sterilise dummies on the go. I keep a spare dummy in the ball and swap over if one gets dropped. It's a bit easier than making sure a number of dummies are sterilised before you go out and not losing the cover for the teat etc.

Yes, have used Milton sterilising fluid for bottles but didn't know about this product.
