Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

A nifty solution to a common problem but not one that we really have.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Easy to use, although a bit faffy that you have to take the sponges in and out and i HATED having to touch the dry sponges, they set my teeth on edge!

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, it had that Milton smell.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

If my DS used his dummy out and about then I would probably think it was good value. As we mainly use dummy at home it's easier to just use the normal steriliser

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, if they had a problem with dirty dummies.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

Yes and yes

  1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

Nice design, lovely and compact, easy to attach to pram or pop into change bag.

  1. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use?

Very easy. I only had to read the instructions step-by-step the first time I tried it, after that I could do it from memory (and my memory is usually awful!). As others have mentioned, it was a pain having to wait 15 minutes, but I'm not sure that there's much you can do about that! And the problem is easily overcome by taking 2 dummies with you, so one is in use while the others sterilising.

  1. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised ypur child's soother/dummy?

Yes, I could tell it worked because of the smell! I was a bit worried about that but ds didn't seemed bothered by it.

  1. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money?

I think I would be a little put off by that price because you would have to keep buying the sterilising tablets once you'd got it. £4.99 would be better.

  1. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family?

I would - though I would warn them of the price! I do think it's a great idea though.

  1. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

I knew Milton did steralising tablets and I think antibacterial wipes? I was aware that this product existed but I didn't know that Milton made it and I didn't know much about it.

Squiffie · 20/10/2014 21:57

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini? Quite small and neat, fits easily into my bag. I like the strap as it allows me to clip it onto the key loop in my bag.
Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Once I found the leaflet in English it was pretty easy although I think I'd find it a bit of a faff to do every day.
Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not? It smells chemical so I would assume it's sterilised. It has the disinfectant smell that I associate with cleaning products.
Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not? If you used it every day then it's a good price but I feel that for me the novelty would wear off so quickly that it wouldn't be worth it.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Probably not to be honest, it's just too gimmicky. I don't like the need to have 2 dummies out with us (I only have 2 and one stays in the cot) or if not having to wait 15 minutes which is just unrealistic.
Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product? I'd heard of Milton but never used it and was not aware of this product.

Squiffie · 20/10/2014 22:01

I also wonder how robust the product is. Wonder what would happen if I dropped it on the pavement which I'm likely to do as I'm a klutz

SweetPeaPods · 20/10/2014 22:14

Q1. Overall impression good. Good concept. However I would have preferred a more unisex colour instead of pink when I have 2 boys!
I don't know how often I will use it, it might be easier to just take a couple of spare clean dummies out with me. Also I have a pack of tommee tippee dummy/teat antibacterial wipes in my changing bag which I feel are easier to use and better value for money.
Q2. Yes it's easy to use once you have read the instructions.
Q3. Not really. Ds1 often puts the handle in his mouth too when teething and I don't feel the MAM dummies fit very well to fully sterilise all of the dummy.
Q4. Yes and no. Because it requires additional milton tablets that adds extra expense. If would be good if it could suggest breaking a standard milton tablet in half/quarter so you are only required to purchase one type of tablets or a certain amount of the milton liquid.
Q5.if they were looking for sterilising ideas then yes.
Q6. Yes and yes. I saw it at the baby show.

Becks100000 · 21/10/2014 07:08

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

Very clever design, I loved the strap, that you could attach to the pram. Cute colour.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Once I had read the instructions and had a couple of goes, it became much easier to use.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes but wipe with a tissue etc first to get any bits off and I then wiped the dummy after to remove any after taste that may be left on the dummy.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes £6.99 is a great price, and you get 10 tablets with it which is a great start. I think you caan then buy a paack of 50 tablet for around 2.99.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would reccomed this, especially if your out and about with baby a lot and they drop their dummies a lot, great for when your at the park.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

This product was not available with my other 2 children and would have been great but I did use other Milton products around the house and I kept a pack of wipes in my bag for when out and about.

alphacole1811 · 21/10/2014 11:51
  1. Liked the design overall. Don't know how long the velcro strap would stay attached to a buggy etc.
  2. Easy to use, but the waiting time of 15 minutes would have a screaming tantrum toddler.
  3. Assumed worked with the tablets. Smelled chemically.
  4. £6.99 is a bit steep, as it could be lost on the first outing in a buggy!
  5. Only for experimentation. Some people wouldn't take to it.
  6. Obviously have know Milton from way back, but did not know that they manufactured this product.
Zebrasinpyjamas · 21/10/2014 11:54

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

It looked nice. Lovely bright green colour. It was small enough to carry around if I wanted to and was quite light. Annoying to have to carry separate tablets around though and I suspect I would lose these if I used it longer term. As the liquid only stays fresh for 24 hrs you can't make it up 'just in case' before you go out.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

It was a bit of a faff working it out at first as I found the instructions a bit confusing. Once I had done it once it was straight forward though.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes.
Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

6.99 is ok but more annoying is that if you use it long term you have to keep buying steriliser tablets too as there are only 10 included. Overall I didn't really find using it any easier than carrying around a couple of spare dummies (which are smaller and lighter) so I suspect once the ten tablets are used it will probably go in to the back of a cupboard forever!

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes if they really wanted a portable steriliser but I would probably tell them to just take more dummies out with them!

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

I've heard of Milton from my mum but not this particular product.

Tweetinat · 21/10/2014 12:00

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

I liked the shape and size of the Mini, and liked that it could be attached to your bag/pushchair for easy access.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not really. Like most other posters, I would not be happy having to make DS 'wait' 15 minutes while the dummy sterilises, so the only effective way to use it would be to make it up in the morning and use it to carry a spare around. Then if a dummy needs cleaning I could give him the pre-sterilised one and pop the dirty one in the Mini.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Only from the horrible, bleachy smell that the dummy had when taken out of the pod.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

If this was a one-off cost then I would think it was reasonable but as you have to keep buying the tablets I think that the overall cost of ownership is too much - especially when you might 'waste' tablets making up a pod which you don't use.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would probably mention the product but wouldn't actually 'recommend' it.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

I had heard of Milton but wasn't aware of this product.

AbbieDando123 · 21/10/2014 19:45

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

It looked nice and I was excited to give it a go. I'd never heard of a soother steriliser and loved the idea of it.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I did have to go through the instructions as it wasn't clear what to do just by looking at the product. But once I'd read the instructions it was very simple and I would know what to do next time without having to re-visit the directions.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I definitely felt it sterilised the teet as this is the part in the water. I wasn't convinced about the top part of the soother, but I'm sure it does.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I think it's good value as you can use it again and again.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Oh definitely. I already have! Lots of my mummy friends love the idea and I'm sure will be buying one.
Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

I hadn't heard of Milton and had no idea soother sterilisers were out there - but now I do!

ColdCottage · 21/10/2014 19:46

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
Funky looking. Simple but cool

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I thought I would use it more than I did. I think if it had liquid sachets rather than tablets I would use it more. I didn't want to make up a tablet every time I went out as if it was a short trip and I didn't need it then it would be a waste. Whilst out I didn't always have what I needed. I don't carry a bottle of water as only drink squash. With a liquid sachet I could just prepare it when I first needed it.
Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes it smelled very clean but this also put me off a bit as I wouldn't really want to put anything smelling that 'clean' in my mouth.
Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm not sure. As a pregnant woman I might, once I'd had the baby for a few months maybe not. It's not that expensive but I'd be more inclined to try a 'novelty item' which I wasn't sure how much use I would get from it if it were under £5 or included more tablets for £6.99 may 28.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would mention it as it a good idea. Depends on the parent though.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes I've heard of Milton before.
Only heard of this product once and that was someone selling a new one second hand on a Facebook selling group.

I'm glad I had the chance to trial this.
I will continue to use it but not every day. Maybe just on long days out.

NFG4EVA · 23/10/2014 20:34
  1. I loved the design. Very well thought out. However I thought the packaging could be improve upon. I though instead if bright solid colours it might appeal more in either clear or white plastic with a small design of maybe a cute animal for example baby duck or a lamb on it.
  2. Sterilising is not something I think any mother enjoys! It's a daily task! Still the Milton mini wasn't difficult to use.
  3. Yes no concerns. Milton is a brand I trust.
  4. It's a good price however with everything you need to buy for a baby it's not something I would immediately think as a must have. More if a want than a need.
  5. Yes especially if there little one used a dummy.
  6. Yes I use Milton already in the terms if the anti bac spray. (Lovely smell) and knew this produce was in the market, albeit new to the market.

Thank you for letting me try this product.

LoudAndLarge · 23/10/2014 21:32

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

Good and innovative neat design. Really impressed.
Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes really easy to use, a simple product that I have hanging from my changing bag
Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes the dummies smelt clean and as I use Milton to sterilise at home anyway I was more than happy.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I feel it's a reasonable price & I have purchased a second one also. It takes away the hassle of carrying lots of dummies and also the worry of them being clean.
Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, I have already recommended it and a friend purchased it.
Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes I already use Milton to sterilise at home but was unaware of this product until now.

sarahvs · 23/10/2014 22:37

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I really like the design, size and colour. I also like the idea of the product.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I wasn't really sure how to set it up at first from the instructions, however found a video online that made it really clear. Then it was simple to set up and use.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, from the smell.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think it is reasonably value.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend this product as it is very convenient and easy to use.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
I was aware of Milton sterilisers but not this product.

HappyHippyChick · 24/10/2014 21:42

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I really like the design, size and colour. I also like the idea of the product.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I found it easy to use after I worked out what I was doing! I found that the best thing was to have a dummy in the steriliser and to avoid waiting 15 mins.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, the dummy smelled sterilised.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think it is quite good value for the initial product, but it depends how much the sterilising tablets cost going forward.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend this product, especially to first time mothers as it is convenient, easy to use and reassuring.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
I was aware of Milton and had seen television adverts for this product.

asuwere · 25/10/2014 09:52

I finally remembered to look up the price of the mini tablets - currently at Tesco it's £1.85 for a box of 50, so it's 4p each. Fairly good value.

OliviaRinHerts · 25/10/2014 12:06

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

I REALLY liked the idea of it and I would have bought it myself. It was small and easy to attach to the pram.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm afraid not. The instructions, although fairly clear, meant the
Process was time consuming. I've got loads to do before leaving the house with a newborn and cleaning and filling the pod before I leave was one thing I could do without especially given you can get packets of soother wipes. There were also many typos on the packaging.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes but I hated the smell and even if it is not the case I wouldn't want my son ingesting chemicals.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

It is ok but nearer the £5 mark ie £5.99 would be better given you have to buy the tablets.

Q5. I would certainly mention this product. - I probably wouldn't use it but that is not to say other people wouldn't.

Q6. Yes I was aware of Milton for sterilising products but was not aware of this product specifically. I have seen it now in boots and as I said I would have actually bought it.

Thanks for letting me try it and I am sure when things are less fraught I will use it more. It will come in useful.

ELISEUS · 25/10/2014 22:41

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I wasn’t sure if this product was going to be useful as I have looked at it several times in the shops so when I was selected to test it I wanted to try and get as much use as possible and in the end I thought the Milton Mini was compact, easy to use, and it came to be a bit of a life saver after my daughter had given her 1st dummy to the dog to lick and the spare one got spat across the supermarket!

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I found it really easy to put together and use throughout the day. My dad has recently had major heart surgery so I visit him & mum 2 or 3 days a week so taking the Milton Mini is now a must as I no longer have to take extra dummies or have to buy more!!

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I have used the cold water & Milton sterilising technique anyways so this was exactly the same except it was portable

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Having used it I would say yes it is good value although I’ve not seen the small tablets anywhere to buy separately, so once I’ve used all 10 tablets what do I do?

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it to both friends & family as it is a very useful addition to the change bag and reduces the headache of going somewhere with baby.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
I have heard of Milton before as my mum used Milton when I was a baby (36 years ago) and for my sister who also used Milton with her sons. I had also seen this particular product in many shops but was not sure if it would be value for money.....it most definitely is!!

Nitnatpaddywack · 27/10/2014 17:29
  1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
As a complete germophobe I love the idea of being able to sterilise on the go. It's especially useful for dummies as they regularly hit the deck and I'm definitely not in the stick it in my mouth to clean camp. Only off putting thing is the strong smell. My baby didn't mind but it did make me feel as though I was giving him a mouthful of chemicals.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
It was easy to use, although another thing to think of as you leave the house! However for piece of mind and the hassle saved of being without a dummy it was worth it.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I've used Milton to sterilise my breast pump so am familiar with the product and confident that it works.
Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think that's reasonable for the device but it would depend on the price of the tablets and if they were comparable to sterilising wipes.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - it's really useful to have - fits in changing bag easily and offers peace of mind.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
Yes i'm aware of Milton and have used the fluid at home before.

Diamondsareagirls · 27/10/2014 19:08

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I thought the design was excellent. Nice colour, compact and easy to stick in the nappy bag.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes once you had got the hang of it. It was useful out on the go.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, It seemed and smelled clean.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think the product itself is good value but would be hesitant about how long I would use this having to buy tablets as well.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend this product to first time mums as this was a concern for me when out and about when my twins were small.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?
I was aware of Milton but not this product.

lbsjob87 · 27/10/2014 19:56

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

I thought it was great, very compact and the strap was very strong so it fits safely on the pram.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

It was very easy to use but so far we have been unable to find the mini tablets in any shop so haven't used it as regularly as I would like.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

The dummy smells very clean but it's not easy to tell if it. Is. The smell is quite chemical and I did wonder if my son could taste this but he doesn't seem bothered by it.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think it's a reasonable price for a useful piece of equipment.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend it to friends as it is a simple and well designed product that only has one real use, but does it really well.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

I had heard of Milton and seen this product in use but couldn't find it in any shops so was really pleased to be given the chance to try one.

BumpNGrind · 27/10/2014 20:17

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?
I really liked it, it's easy to use, looks good and I've already bought a second one. I like the colours it's available in and the design. Better still I am confident that when my newborn pfb spits his dummy out, I'm able to clean it on the go. One of the most handy pieces of equipment in my new mother toolkit!

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, it's simple, easy and good to go in just a few seconds.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

I trust the brand and I feel like it's doing the job it's supposed to without being overly chemical or 'nasty'.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes it's excellent value for money, I would have paid more (but glad I didn't gave to)

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes and I already have. Grandparents will be investing in this product and future friends who are having children will also be getting this as a gift.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

Yes, but I had associated it with the old fashioned form of bottle sterilising. I'm pleased to see that Milton are moving on and doing products which really do make it easier for parents on the go.

I would definitely recommend the Milton Mini and have done so, many mums I know moan about their children dropping their dummies and not being able to sterilise them until they get home. The Milton Mini is a blessing.

Q1. What was your overall impression of the Milton Mini?

  • Nice design, great colour, friendly packaging.

Q2. Did you find the Milton Mini easy to use, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • It was actually very easy to use and the instructions were very clear.

Q3. Did you get the impression that the Milton Mini effectively sterilised your child’s soother/dummy? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • Yes because of the smell but I am still not 100% sure it does what it should. I have no deep knowledge in order to determine if it really does sterilise the soother, so I just have to trust it does.

Q4. The Milton Mini retails at £6.99, do you think this is good value for money, or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • I would say it is priced right and it represents a good value for money; it is not too expensive for what it is and does. We bought 50 tablets for it for just under £2, which isn’t bad.

Q5. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Milton Mini to friends and/or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • I would and I already did. It is very convenient and well priced.

Q6. Have you heard of Milton before and were you aware that Milton did this product?

  • No, actually it was something new to me. I wish I knew about it sooner.
