UK Mumsnetters needed to test TomTom’s top Sat Nav - the GO 5000 worth £259.99 NOW CLOSED

We have been asked by the team at TomTom to find 100 UK MNers to try TomTom GO 5000.

We're looking for Mumsnetters who are regular drivers.

TomTom says: "We all know that traffic jams can take seconds to build up and then last for hours. There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in a jam or in slow moving traffic and not knowing how long you will be there. Especially, when your time is tight and you have children to pick up or drop off.

TomTom satnavs know the precise traffic situation on most UK roads at all times, in real time. The satnav you’ll be given to test is a “live device,” this means it is constantly searching every possible route option to find you the fastest route available. So, if the traffic situation suddenly gets bad on your “normal” route, it will automatically search other options to find a new, faster route and give you a new arrive time."

If selected, you'll be sent the TomTom GO 5000 to try for a few weeks and so long as you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

If selected, you will be sent the TomTom GO 5000 at the end of September, and asked to try it for two weeks. You will then need to try it and add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. At the end of the testing period, we’d also like you to post a review on the Mumsnet review pages and fill in a short survey. In order to keep the product, you would need to add your feedback by the 26th of October, so please only apply if you are able to do this.

Please also note that TomTom may use your anonymous feedback comments on their website and social media channels, as well as elsewhere.

If you'd like to take part, please add your details here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/RKBRB3K

We will be in touch with selected MNers ASAP.

Thanks and good luck!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/10/2014 18:40

Hurrah! I'm so excited about this!

The day after I applied I got stuck in a massive jam and just had to sit there, engine off, and wait it out. Hopefully this will never happen again!

Princesspond · 01/10/2014 18:44

Wow I was actually selected!! I never get anything, so excited!!!

chickensandbees · 01/10/2014 18:53

Horray! So excited. Been looking at reviews of this and it looks amazing. Lifetime EU maps.

Cannot wait.

Who have you voted for on the choice of voices?

chickensandbees · 01/10/2014 18:55

DH is gutted I've been picked. He thinks I need to improve my geographical knowledge. Now I don't need to! Grin

AlfieandAnnieRose · 01/10/2014 18:57

I voted for Stephen fry, I think Homer Simpson's voice or bert n ernies wouldn't be what I'd want to hear whilst stuck in a traffic jam! Stephen fry is intellectual so I'd think ah yes he knows what's best. Oh and I like his voice on the Harry potter audio books Smile

Squiffie · 01/10/2014 19:00

I'm in!! I actually squealed when I opened my email. Was at dp's house, my dad thought I was mad. I'm sooo undecided on the voice.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 01/10/2014 19:00

I'm in too! Can't wait to test it out in deepest, darkest rural Scotland!! Thank you MN and TOMTOM.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 01/10/2014 19:02

Oh, and I voted for John Cleese, in the hope it might sound like Basil Fawlty Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/10/2014 19:03

I've gone for Brian Blessed.

Stephen Fry would just irritate the hell out of me.

chickensandbees · 01/10/2014 19:07

I went for Stephen fry too. On the basis of the harry potter books. John Cleese would have been my second choice.

snowplop · 01/10/2014 19:09

I'm delighted to be selected. A horrid day has just got so much better. My vote went to Stephen Fry too; I can just imagine myself chortling along as he guides me down an ingenious short cut.

VeryStressedMum · 01/10/2014 19:15

I went for Stephen Fry too. I wonder when we'll get them, I'm really excited I really need a sat nav, my phone dropped down the toilet and I'm using the crappiest phone ever that doesn't have sat nav. I had to go somewhere on Saturday I'd never been before and printed out the directions...it was like I'd gone back to the dark agesGrin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/10/2014 19:20

I hope we don't have to listen to the famous voice then if everyone has voted for Stephen Fry. There must be a default normal voice, surely?

I don't see why we couldn't just pick our own choice. Stephen Fry's smugness would make me want to throw it out of the window.

TequilaMockinBird · 01/10/2014 19:30

I too voted John Cleese in the hope it it sounds like Basil Fawlty Grin

lougle · 01/10/2014 19:30

I only liked Stephen Fry!

NoMoreDelays · 01/10/2014 19:44

So thrilled to be chosen. I chose Stephen Fry's lovely voice!

NoMoreDelays · 01/10/2014 19:45

And my name's in anticipation of a successful Tom Tom test.

Blondieminx · 01/10/2014 19:48

I did actually squeal! A much needed bit of good news! Smile thank you MNHQ & TomTom Smile

Rhumba · 01/10/2014 19:52

Woo Hoo - Vote for Stephen here too!

ChildrenOfTheDamned · 01/10/2014 19:53

Yay! Just got my email, I'm chuffed. DH insisted I vote for Darth Vader, I wanted Yoda though. Put it to a vote and the kids voted for Darth Vader. Hmm

BiggerYellowTaxi · 01/10/2014 20:05

I just got my email! Well it was there ages ago but I've had a manic evening and only just seen it. I'm very excited Grin
