UK Mumsnetters needed to test TomTom’s top Sat Nav - the GO 5000 worth £259.99 NOW CLOSED

We have been asked by the team at TomTom to find 100 UK MNers to try TomTom GO 5000.

We're looking for Mumsnetters who are regular drivers.

TomTom says: "We all know that traffic jams can take seconds to build up and then last for hours. There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in a jam or in slow moving traffic and not knowing how long you will be there. Especially, when your time is tight and you have children to pick up or drop off.

TomTom satnavs know the precise traffic situation on most UK roads at all times, in real time. The satnav you’ll be given to test is a “live device,” this means it is constantly searching every possible route option to find you the fastest route available. So, if the traffic situation suddenly gets bad on your “normal” route, it will automatically search other options to find a new, faster route and give you a new arrive time."

If selected, you'll be sent the TomTom GO 5000 to try for a few weeks and so long as you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

If selected, you will be sent the TomTom GO 5000 at the end of September, and asked to try it for two weeks. You will then need to try it and add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. At the end of the testing period, we’d also like you to post a review on the Mumsnet review pages and fill in a short survey. In order to keep the product, you would need to add your feedback by the 26th of October, so please only apply if you are able to do this.

Please also note that TomTom may use your anonymous feedback comments on their website and social media channels, as well as elsewhere.

If you'd like to take part, please add your details here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/RKBRB3K

We will be in touch with selected MNers ASAP.

Thanks and good luck!

Mine has been delivered to a neighbour, when I go to 'where is my parcel' the delivery man has taken a picture of the neighbours house Grin. I like that for the security, impressed with interlink so far.

Mimsy ???????

Alfie Very cool :)

Bda two good looking delivery men then! I know 'mine' wasn't going to SL.

lynniep · 08/10/2014 11:37

I've got Jamie delivering mine to work sometime between 2 and 3.
Flipping typical - I'll be back home then - the entire rest of the day I'm out and about which is why I asked for it to be delivered to work! Ah well, one of my colleagues will keep it safe till tommorrow...

Well I read the instructions. Or at least I stared blankly at them for about 10 seconds then tossed them aside. Not sure wtf they were in aid of. Still at least my cuppa didn't get cold. Grin

whoops · 08/10/2014 12:21

Chipping, DS is a regular at the hospital, we were there for repeat blood tests this morning and back again tomorrow Hmm

that was one of the reasons I was keen to try the Tom Tom as I usually get stuck in traffic going from one side of the city to get to the hospital at the other!

My delivery time isn't showing now so don't know if it's been delivered and don't want to harass my neighbours!

SocksRock · 08/10/2014 12:40

Mine is coming with David! He is currently making delivery no 65, I am number 96! Poor David sounds very overworked... Estimated between 14.33 and 15.33 - prime school run time...

ilovemonstersinc · 08/10/2014 12:47

Ive turned it on. Put school address in to see if there was another quicker. Will plug into laptop when dh gets in so he can havekids wwhile I play update it.

SocksRock · 08/10/2014 12:49

He's heading for the next village over from me. I have to go there to collect DH's prescription, get milk etc. Would it be wrong to hunt him down and demand my sat nav??

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:02

lynniep bloody murphy's at it again!

Bda I'm somewhat glad mine couldn't connect to the laptop this morning then, but it sounds like I'm going to need to get the laptop sorted out so I can do it. Anyway, I'm sure it will work well enough for now. Fingers crossed.

MrsT - the Quick Guide made much more sense afterwards Grin

Whoops sorry to hear about DS. I hope that Tom Tom or Tim Tim Or Jane Jane help you with your apts. Go and let your neighbour know you are home now - it might be there!!

SocksRocks He might be there sooner, as I said, Lovely Bloke had already done almost 30 in just over an hour. It would be perfectly fine and save him having to find your house, just take some ID with you! Interlink van should be easy to spot!

ilove It could take a while - make yourself a nice drink and impress upon DH the need to not be disturbed... then have a nice nap while it updates!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/10/2014 13:06

Mine is next door apparently, unfortunately the next-doors are NOT currently next door Smile so will have to get it later!

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:09

On no inigo how irritating!

whoops · 08/10/2014 13:09

It's here!! The delivery man didn't see the note about delivering to next door!!

Just updating then going to head off for my 1st journey with it!

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:10

Oohhh - :)

I haven't updated mine. Have you seen how long it's taking ^^? You don't need to update it to use it if you haven't the time.

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:12

I NEED someone who has updated to spill the beans on which voice we got :)

Also if the 'voucher' to download a voice of our choice (as per the PDF from Tom Tom) is 'on our account' or if it should have been in the box?

whoops · 08/10/2014 13:15

Lol my update just went from 18mins to 4hrs and has dropped down again to 1hr!

lougle · 08/10/2014 13:16

I think Iain has stopped for his lunch, because he's been delivering parcel 53 for a long time. I'm parcel 60. All very exciting.

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:18

Maybe Homeowner 53 is having wild sex with him making him a nice cup of tea :)

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:19

whoops hmmmm.... I wonder how long it will actually take? My washing machine does that and it's bloody annoying!

MimsyBorogroves · 08/10/2014 13:20

I'm still updating Hmm - blaming DH for using the bandwidth for his 'actual' work, but it's down to 8hrs 19mins. Still seems a ridiculously long time...

Nothing thus far about additional voices. I had a play around before I started updating and I'm liking how user friendly it is. Adding in favourite addresses, changing voices, finding POIs etc were all very easy to do.

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:27

Yes Mimsy so far it seems pretty user friendly. I've found one thing that was a bit annoying, but I'll work out whether it's me or 'it' first before looking like a total twat Grin

Doesn't DH need to have a lunch break - you could offer him something to take his mind off of work

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 13:28

Oh have you found the regular voices yet bda? I assumed it would come up in there once you updated.

However, what MN said and what Tom Tom said about the 'additional' voice weren't the same thing... so who knows?!

SocksRock · 08/10/2014 13:30

I decided not to stalk him. Went to supermarket and the map has him closing in on me rapidly! He's at 76 now, so fingers crossed will get to me before school run...
