UK Mumsnetters needed to test TomTom’s top Sat Nav - the GO 5000 worth £259.99 NOW CLOSED

AngelieMumsnet · 15/09/2014 13:38

We have been asked by the team at TomTom to find 100 UK MNers to try TomTom GO 5000.

We're looking for Mumsnetters who are regular drivers.

TomTom says: "We all know that traffic jams can take seconds to build up and then last for hours. There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in a jam or in slow moving traffic and not knowing how long you will be there. Especially, when your time is tight and you have children to pick up or drop off.

TomTom satnavs know the precise traffic situation on most UK roads at all times, in real time. The satnav you’ll be given to test is a “live device,” this means it is constantly searching every possible route option to find you the fastest route available. So, if the traffic situation suddenly gets bad on your “normal” route, it will automatically search other options to find a new, faster route and give you a new arrive time."

If selected, you'll be sent the TomTom GO 5000 to try for a few weeks and so long as you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

If selected, you will be sent the TomTom GO 5000 at the end of September, and asked to try it for two weeks. You will then need to try it and add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. At the end of the testing period, we’d also like you to post a review on the Mumsnet review pages and fill in a short survey. In order to keep the product, you would need to add your feedback by the 26th of October, so please only apply if you are able to do this.

Please also note that TomTom may use your anonymous feedback comments on their website and social media channels, as well as elsewhere.

If you'd like to take part, please add your details here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/RKBRB3K

We will be in touch with selected MNers ASAP.

Thanks and good luck!

I may just wear mine around my neck going to work. I'm a little in love with it already.

BiggerYellowTaxi · 07/10/2014 19:06

I got Angelie's email but I've not had a text. Anyone else?

IAmAPaleontologist · 07/10/2014 19:13

I've not got a text, don't know if i gave mobile number, probably not as signal shit here so i don't normally bother. Would have been useful to change delivery day. Oh well.

VeryStressedMum · 07/10/2014 19:38

I haven't had a text yet Sad

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/10/2014 19:38

Mine is coming tomorrow apparently but I'll be out. Tried to change the delivery address to work but couldn't so have nominated a "safe" place. I think if they send me a one-hour slot tomorrow I'll try and nip home to get it. I'm so excited - I am totally sick of the traffic in the mornings, and now the weather has started to turn it is getting even worse.

TequilaMockinBird · 07/10/2014 22:56

I've got a text, mine is coming tomorrow too Smile. Have to find my way to Milton Keynes and back next week so it's coming just in time!

ChippingInLatteLover · 07/10/2014 23:11

socksrock Wales is looooooooovely. Don't put too many places in the TomTom you'll miss all the roads you took wrong turns on, and ended up being the best bits!

Not sure what's happening for half term yet, I have been looking to see where there might be some sunshine... might have a staycation with Tom Tom instead Grin

Blondieminx · 07/10/2014 23:40

No text here either but I've been in a signal blackspot most of the evening.

Sods law dictates it'll arrive while I'm doing the school run. Wonder whether it's Yodel or City Link Hmm

Really excited to be trying this out! Whenever we visit rellies in the middle of the country, we always get stuck on the infernal A14 and I bet this gadget will be brilliant for swerving those jams Smile

AlfieandAnnieRose · 07/10/2014 23:57

Blondiemix the text says interlink are delivering if that helps you to know!

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 09:03

Well, the sexy new man in my life should be arriving between 9.50 & 10.50. Even if he's late - and he shouldn't have any excuses really - it's hours before I have to go out, so all good :)

Anyone else?

SophieBarringtonWard · 08/10/2014 09:10

I got a text with a delivery slot then immediately afterwards a text saying they didn't have my parcel & won't be delivering today after all Hmm

WeAreEternal · 08/10/2014 09:11

I had a text message at 8.45 saying the parcel would be delivered between 14.45 and 15.45, which is pretty much the entire school run.
I was just about to add a note to say 'please leave it in the porch'. And i have just received another text message saying,
"Sorry, we haven't received your Widget Uk parcel yet so we can't deliver it today."

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 09:13

Oh Sophie & WeAre that's annoying :( I should go and get my phone really, I left it in the bedroom and couldn't be bothered going back for it. Harumph.

Floralnomad · 08/10/2014 09:15

I got the same 2 texts so I've emailed HQ to see if they know when they will be coming .

HeySoulSister · 08/10/2014 09:18

So not today then?

CMP69 · 08/10/2014 09:19

I had a text at 9:05 saying it wasn't coming and one just now saying delivery between 11:05 and 12:05 Confused
Any thoughts Angelie?

ilovemonstersinc · 08/10/2014 09:21

Same thing here. Text to say 10.11-11.11 then not delivering today Confused

VeryStressedMum · 08/10/2014 09:26

Still no texts...hope mine is coming at some point. I may call interlink to see if they have a delivery for my address.

AngelieMumsnet · 08/10/2014 09:30

Hello! I'm looking into the text issue and will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

ilovemonstersinc · 08/10/2014 09:45

Dlynch is 45mins away Grin

nicename · 08/10/2014 09:46

Are you on a teensy wee island and he has to get a boat? Or top floor of a very very very tall tower?

MimsyBorogroves · 08/10/2014 09:52

Mine is here. Just setting it up now Smile

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 09:57

He's here :)

No Delivery Texts

I have just spoken to the very lovely delivery man :) Very nice he was :)

I said to him about 100 of them going out today and he said 'Yes I know' (I should have asked him how many of them he had shouldn't I), he said that they are likely to arrive as per the original text. They are loaded onto the handset as they are loaded onto the van. The system is automated, so the 'follow up' texts are probably just someone hitting the wrong button somewhere. He said he'd be very surprised if they didn't arrive as per the original text.

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 09:59

Right, off to see Tom :)
