We've been asked by Kärcher to find 15 UK based Mumsnetters to put their SC2.500C Steam Cleaner to the test.

Kärcher say "The Kärcher SC2.500C Steam Cleaner makes light work of grease, dirt, stains and even limescale, delivering deep cleaning results with no chemicals or scrubbing. It kills 99.9% of bacteria with just the power of steam, and can be used on most surfaces around the home."

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters.

The 15 chosen MNers will need to be:

  • Available to receive the steam cleaner, and willing to test it over two weeks (14-27th April). Please only apply if you're available during this time.
  • Able to leave feedback on the feedback thread at least twice: we'd like first impressions and then some comments after you've used the cleaner a few times. You'll also be asked to add a review to the steam cleaner review section on MN.

5 of the 15 participants may also need to film a few videos on their smartphone (via an app we'll need you to download). Those MNers will receive an additional £50 Amazon.co.uk voucher as a thank you for filming.

Everyone who takes part in the product test and leaves their feedback as requested gets to keep the Kärcher steam cleaner after testing (RRP £ 232.09).

If you'd like to take part please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck!

We're moving, too. Tomorrow!! I've just emailed Angelie because I'm worried in my haste I put my old address down and not our new one! Although we have the keys for the next week just in case.

Squeeee! We have tile, carpet, and lino in our new place plus dirty grout and big windows so should be fun to tryit out everywhere.

Ooh, I've been chosen! This couldn't be more perfect timing, I start maternity leave next week and I am itching to begin frantic nesting and disinfect my entire house in preparation. Grin

not one of the chosen few then Sad

I'll look forward to reading the reviews though. I need to make my mind up whether I need one of these or not.

You chosen few lot... can you have a go at steam cleaning the inside of the washing machine drawer (the bit at the top you cannot see without bending over) and let me know how effective it is?

night I will certainly give the inside upper bit of the tray a go and report back.

Ooohh I've just thought of the bath overflow! It's a really odd shape and I've not been able to clean it properly!
I keep looking round my already slightly obsessively clean house and thinking of all the extra cleaning I can do! Oooh and mil has a wet room with a weird drain, that's getting a good blast!

I spent all last night thinking of things I can steam! Wondering if it would be strong enough to remove already fairly loose wallpaper from the walls?? Is that too crazy?

Report
CakeyCakeyCakey · 12/04/2014 10:19

It probably would, I remember my dad had a wallpaper steamer when I was a kid (sometime round the dark ages) that was basically just a big kettle with a pipe out of the top and a flat bit to hold against the wall, maybe use the floor attachment and try it?

Oh I will, Cakey, I will. I want to steam clean the dog but DH says that's a no-no. Confused

He did however suggest we clean the outside walls of our house. I think he thinks it's a magic machine that turns into anything you might need it for, ie a power-washer.

Although I'm not much better thinking it can remove wallpaper/groom our pets.

thenightsky I've cleaned the washing machine drawer before with a steam cleaner and you need goggles and a full hazmat suit Grin I sprayed water and scum all over the kitchen as the steam was funnelled in all directions!!! Did a brilliant job at cleaning it though.

Browsing the website you can get a wallpaper steamer attachment and an iron!

Ooh an iron you say? I never iron I hate it but maybe it'll be fun... And when ds starts nursery in sept I'll have no choice.

Dh made me cry last night, his first response when I told him was "can we sell it?"
I told him only if we sell his ps4 first! He really is a tw@ sometimes.
