Dyson are looking for 20 Mumsnetters to test out their newest vacuum - The Dyson Cinetic DC54 (Currently sold for £459.99 on the Dyson website).

Here's what Dyson have to say, "Dyson's latest vacuum cleaner uses Dyson Cinetic cyclone technology. 54 cyclones are equipped with oscillating rubber tips making them so efficient at separating dust there is no need for filter maintenance. As a result, it will not lose suction over the lifetime of the machine. It is Dyson's biggest step forward in vacuum technology since removing the bag in 1993."

Putting it to the test

"Dyson engineers spent 9,000 hours testing the new Dyson Cinetic; which is the equivalent of 500 years of vacuuming in the home. So now we want hectic households to put it to the test. Over 2 tonnes of dust was used to test the Dyson Cinetic vacuum, roughly the same weight as a bull elephant. Can you do better?"

No loss of suction. Ever.

"Bagged vacuums lose suction almost instantly. Fine dust clogs the pores of the bag restricting airflow while other cyclonic vacuum cleaners often rely on filters to capture dust which have the same problem. The Dyson Cinetic's oscillating rubber tips are made from a top secret material that's been tested with over 10 years' worth of test dust. The Dyson Cinetic vacuum cleaner will not lose suction."

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters.

Dyson are on the hunt for 20 MNers who are:

  • Available to receive a machine, and willing to test it over a two week period between 17th February and 3rd March, so please only apply if you're available during this time. You will get to keep the Dyson Cinetic once you have finished testing.
  • Able to leave feedback on the feedback thread, a review in the reviews section of Mumsnet, and a short survey outlining your feedback to be used on Dyson's website.
  • Comfortable submitting photos of the test.

Dyson will set three challenges testing the speed, effectiveness and durability of the Dyson Cinetic which you'll need to complete. We'll post these on the feedback thread. Don't worry they should be fun!

If you want to sign up to test out the Dyson Cinetic, click here.

For those of you who aren't successful, keep an eye out for the feedback thread where you could still be in with the chance to win a Dyson Cinetic vacuum of your own.

If you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Please note: Testers will be required to send photos into Mumsnet (and optional video footage). These could potentially be used on Dyson websites and social media pages (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc).

Would love to test it on my Border Collies hairs!

SuckItAndSee · 06/02/2014 21:58

I can currently offer a whole house full of replastering dust and detritus, as well as the usual family dirt, should you be seeking a particularly tough challenge...

ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight · 06/02/2014 23:39

Yummy mummy I'll swap your kids for just one of mine who don't even know where the Hoover is kept lol pleaseee Grin

bigsistersue · 07/02/2014 09:59

love to do this.

helenajane · 07/02/2014 11:01

We are a family of only 3, but make the mess of 8! If this vacuum can cope in my sons bedroom .. i would be very happy! Things my vacuum ignores! are sock fluff, flakes of the logs for the log burner, my sewing threads, paint flecks & when my daughter lived here or when she stays over .. hair!

SweetPeaPods · 07/02/2014 11:04

Is this not closed yet?! I have no chance!!

TequilaMockinBird · 07/02/2014 12:16

Please close this MNHQ before anyone else applies! I need this, think of my poor back on these stairs Grin

MrsOlf · 07/02/2014 12:20

Please pick me! Please pick me! :-)

Trumpton · 07/02/2014 18:34

I was going to ask " The Powers in The Tower" to close the thread a few days ago but thought it might look needy.
CLOSE IT NOW !

HappyCria · 07/02/2014 18:38

I really need this. My current Dyson was bought as a wedding present so is now 10 years old Shock and is in desperate need of going in to retirement.

rusmum · 07/02/2014 20:01

When is this closing! Got fingers and ties crossed! Wink

GinSoakedMisery · 07/02/2014 21:31

Ties Rusmum? Surely it won't be that bad if you don't get picked Wink

ChameleonCircuit · 07/02/2014 22:21

Have added my name to the list. No dogs, but I shed enough to mimic a pack of huskies. If those huskies had long hair, that is.

rusmum · 08/02/2014 08:21

Lol

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 08/02/2014 08:36

Fingers crossed Grin

crazykat · 10/02/2014 10:37

I'd be perfect to test this. Between 4 young kids who are amazing at making mess, DH who comes home covered in dust who then leaves his clothes on the floor which then shed black dust which doesn't like to be hoovered and a BLW toddler I can put any vacuum through its paces.

I'm sick of having to buy a new vacuum every year as they keep losing suction despite cleaning the filter every week and are forever getting blocked even though their bag less and not supposed to block.

My current one is all but dead and I won't be able to replace it for at least two months. I neeeeed this.

MikeLitoris · 10/02/2014 11:28

Ooh its closed! I'm desperately in need of a hoover but dont want to buy one just in case. Although I have probably just jinxed myself by saying that!

MummyBtothree · 10/02/2014 15:06

I know its only just closed but anyone heard yet?????? (dunno why im getting my hopes up, I haven't got a cat-in-hells chance :( )

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 10/02/2014 15:26

Not heard yet, though I've no idea what the average is between closing and choosing?

michele1970 · 10/02/2014 22:39

Damn, missed this one :-( Looking forward to reading the reviews xx

MaMattoo · 10/02/2014 22:43

My carpet produces dirt, I firmly believe that! No vaccum is ever good enough and I have been through a fair few. Testing environment if there ever was one, literally and figuratively!!! Put my name down. Now.

BabylonReturns · 10/02/2014 22:59

I didn't think it was feasibly possible to have as much crossed as I have crossed right now...... I NEEEEEEED that dyson,... X

Georgethesmartestgiant · 11/02/2014 08:32

Fingers crossed. not holding my breath though I didn't even get dishwasher tablets

GinSoakedMisery · 11/02/2014 10:57

Good luck everyone.

idleweiss · 11/02/2014 11:04

I have never been so excited about a vacuum, or needed one as much as I do now!! Was down on my knees with duct tape around my hands lifting dirt off the living room carpet yesterday!! Blush everything is crossed!
