Dyson are looking for 20 Mumsnetters to test out their newest vacuum - The Dyson Cinetic DC54 (Currently sold for £459.99 on the Dyson website).

Here's what Dyson have to say, "Dyson's latest vacuum cleaner uses Dyson Cinetic cyclone technology. 54 cyclones are equipped with oscillating rubber tips making them so efficient at separating dust there is no need for filter maintenance. As a result, it will not lose suction over the lifetime of the machine. It is Dyson's biggest step forward in vacuum technology since removing the bag in 1993."

Putting it to the test

"Dyson engineers spent 9,000 hours testing the new Dyson Cinetic; which is the equivalent of 500 years of vacuuming in the home. So now we want hectic households to put it to the test. Over 2 tonnes of dust was used to test the Dyson Cinetic vacuum, roughly the same weight as a bull elephant. Can you do better?"

No loss of suction. Ever.

"Bagged vacuums lose suction almost instantly. Fine dust clogs the pores of the bag restricting airflow while other cyclonic vacuum cleaners often rely on filters to capture dust which have the same problem. The Dyson Cinetic's oscillating rubber tips are made from a top secret material that's been tested with over 10 years' worth of test dust. The Dyson Cinetic vacuum cleaner will not lose suction."

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters.

Dyson are on the hunt for 20 MNers who are:

  • Available to receive a machine, and willing to test it over a two week period between 17th February and 3rd March, so please only apply if you're available during this time. You will get to keep the Dyson Cinetic once you have finished testing.
  • Able to leave feedback on the feedback thread, a review in the reviews section of Mumsnet, and a short survey outlining your feedback to be used on Dyson's website.
  • Comfortable submitting photos of the test.

Dyson will set three challenges testing the speed, effectiveness and durability of the Dyson Cinetic which you'll need to complete. We'll post these on the feedback thread. Don't worry they should be fun!

If you want to sign up to test out the Dyson Cinetic, click here.

For those of you who aren't successful, keep an eye out for the feedback thread where you could still be in with the chance to win a Dyson Cinetic vacuum of your own.

If you add feedback as required you will be able to keep the product.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Please note: Testers will be required to send photos into Mumsnet (and optional video footage). These could potentially be used on Dyson websites and social media pages (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc).

Mine's just arrived too! The package is very light, isn't it? Good sign...

I need to pop to supermarket now, then I'll come home and unwrap and play hoovering. I have NEVER been so excited about hoovering*, or indeed any housework at all.

  • I know, I must stop saying 'hoovering'.

Yup, Babies - Parcelforce bought mine too - has your arrived yet?

Is anyone else starting hoovering yet? I slightly want to wait for the challenges to be set, so as to ensure I get maximum dust and filth. Not really sure why that thought appeals to me... Confused

Nothing yet :( But still have time Parcel Force delivers up to 5.30pm fingers crossed.

I gave mine a little test run yesterday afternoon, I liked the hard floor tool that turns sideways - got down the side of the fridge freezer that I usually have to use the hand attachments for. It made me all kinds of Grin stupid hey!

I didn't mind using it before the challenges as I know that with these 3 little men & the puppy that the mess would soon return.

Oh, and MNHQ - it did well on the coco pop clear up after breakfast this morning - Hetty was giving it the evil eye under the dining table Wink

I love that it is so light, compared to my DC07 it's like waving a wand.

I want to vacuum (trying not to say hoover!) more but don't want to risk waking small people who are also besotted with it and want to use it. Tis mine!!

Wow, think I have vacuumed most of the house since we got this Dyson. Plus interestingly we have an argument everytime, I pull the thing of beauty out of it's box, as everyone wants to use it.

Even had my five year old DS wanting to know which was the right head for the stairs !

Oooooh, wow!! Mine arrived whilst I was away in The Netherlands visiting mum. Dh and the dc were home and I was sent a text saying : Your dyson has arrived, it is awesome! by dd aged 11 (on dh's mobile)

They left it in the box and when I got home last night we ceremoniously unpacked it. Wow, it is stunning!!
Ds aged 14 was particularly taken with it. One of his chores is to vacuum the house once a week and our old fally-over Henry was not really doing it for him.

We assembled it and the dc were actually arguing over who got to do the hovering!!

Loved how light it was and how incredibly easy to manouver it is.
Dh was most taken with the crevice tool with attached brush (easily pleased!!) although he did find the crevice tool a bit wide (for really large crevices??)

The only downside we noticed during our brief test-hoover last night was that it was quite noisy. We hovered a tiled kitchen and a hallway with wood floor and found the machine very noisy. Perhaps it will be better on carpet? We have carpets upstairs so will try that later today.

But all in all - Wow, can't wait to put it to the test properly!!

Has anyone heard anything about testing the Dyson yet ?

Report
BehindLockNumberNine · 19/02/2014 10:13

I was just about to ask the same thing. Not heard anything. Have done a little bit of dysoning and have things I want to say about it... Where is the feedback / review thread?

Report
HazeltheMcWitch · 19/02/2014 10:44

Me too.

I LOVE the Dyson, and I want a thread where where I can yammer on happily with fellow testers. I am boring people in real life with tales of "look how much dust I've collected! no, LOOK!!"

Hazel, same here!! Love the bloody thing :)
And dh is already lamenting how the clear cylinder is becoming scratched from all the dirt whizzing around inside. He even suggested doing less hoovering to keep the dyson looking nice Shock Grin

Report
3princes · 19/02/2014 14:36

It definitely does pick up more dust doesn't it, it's like magic or something Shock

However, Ds1 (9) has Asperger's and informed me that "it obviously isn't magic, you just didn't clean properly last time, I mean, it can only collect what's there" ?? Err, thanks DS1, I think you will find that was Hetty & not me!!

Going to tackle the stairs later, I rather dislike doing the stairs...

Oh, the stairs 'gave' me loads!
I used the small turbo thing rather than the stair tool as there was so much dust and hair to harvest It was noisy, but worth it.
