Flora Buttery product test feedback thread - £200 John Lewis voucher to be won

AngelieMumsnet · 05/12/2013 13:08

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who are taking part in the Flora Buttery challenge.

Here's what Flora have to say, "Lovingly blended for a flavoursome buttery taste, Flora Buttery has a splash of buttermilk mixed in with our natural sunflower goodness. Buttery is super easy to spread and that also means that it's magic for mixing, especially when baking with the kids - it's super for special cakes or every day cupcakes alike, and also makes a mean icing! Check out our website for some recipes that we know will soon become super-speedy family favourites.

Why not find out if you're a better baker with Flora Buttery?"

Testers were given a voucher to buy Flora Buttery.

We've got a set of questions we'd like you to answer about using Flora Buttery, but please also feel free to add any other thoughts you may have.

  • What did you use to cook/spread/bake with before this challenge?
  • How did you find swopping to Flora Buttery?
  • What was your overall impression of Flora Buttery?
  • How did the overall taste and texture of Flora Buttery compare to that of your usual butter/margarine/oil etc?
  • Do you think you'll be likely to continue using Flora Buttery in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Flora Buttery to a friend or relative? If so why? If not, why not?

All testers who leave their feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Was just about to ask if I was the only one still waiting on a voucher, but I'm glad I'm not alone

lilyloo · 21/01/2014 19:26

Will those of us picked but haven't received any vouchers still be able to go in the prize draw?

Cannot understand the delay, am sure it was October last year this was originally meant to begin. Confused

  • What did you use to cook/spread/bake with before this challenge?
Olive spread for baking, olive oil for cooking, and butter for spreading.
  • How did you find swopping to Flora Buttery?
It was alright; same as other margarines really. Tasted ok. Not as nice as butter on my toast.
  • What was your overall impression of Flora Buttery?
Similar to other "buttery taste" margarines; not comparable to butter really.
  • How did the overall taste and texture of Flora Buttery compare to that of your usual butter/margarine/oil etc?
Taste was possibly a bit nicer than olive spread, the texture (on toast) is not like butter; it makes the toast too soggy.
  • Do you think you'll be likely to continue using Flora Buttery in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
If on offer I might; otherwise I'll use olive spread for baking, and butter/spreadable butter for toast.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Flora Buttery to a friend or relative? If so why? If not, why not?
No, but I don't tend to recommend one brand over another at all anyway (except for Azera coffee!).

  • What did you use to cook/spread/bake with before this challenge? - Real butter
  • How did you find swopping to Flora Buttery? - nobody notice the difference
  • What was your overall impression of Flora Buttery? - no difference could be detected by anyone in my family except my husband who didn't like it on his toast (he is very fussy though!)
  • How did the overall taste and texture of Flora Buttery compare to that of your usual butter/margarine/oil etc? - it was actually in a way more buttery than butter but really I couldn't tell the difference.
  • Do you think you'll be likely to continue using Flora Buttery in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? - I don't think I will all the time as my husband prefers butter but I would buy it for cake making and if it was on a special offer deal.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Flora Buttery to a friend or relative? If so why? If not, why not? - yes I would, if they were looking for an alternative to real butter, this is what I would recommend to them.
candyflosscloud · 22/01/2014 23:12

I think it's safe to say we have been forgotten about. Not impressed with Flora at all!

Picturesinthefirelight · 22/01/2014 23:23
  • What did you use to cook/spread/bake with before this challenge?

Butter block for baking, anchor spreadable for toast.

  • How did you find swopping to Flora Buttery?

Bit disappointed

  • What was your overall impression of Flora Buttery?
  • How did the overall taste and texture of Flora Buttery compare to that of your usual butter/margarine/oil etc?

It didn't taste like butter. It spreads easier than anchor but tasted like all the other butter substitutes, not like butter.

  • Do you think you'll be likely to continue using Flora Buttery in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, I prefer the taste of anchor.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Flora Buttery to a friend or relative? If so why? If not, why not? No see above.

I know it's only a voucher for free spread, but I think Flora have damaged their PR a bit with these delays (how long does it take to print some vouchers?? Hmm ) as rather a lot of MNers haven't had theirs. Not sure I'll be using Flora anything after this; I was looking forward to trying something different and allegedly healthier. Ah well, we'll stick with Lurpak thanks!

candyflosscloud · 23/01/2014 08:01

It's the fact we were accepted and kept on getting empty promises I agree with the above I too won't be buying Flora again. If they can't even print and send a few vouchers then there customer service must be terrible! Considering they even contacted me on twitter and promised it's just not on!

Fletch049 · 23/01/2014 09:54

I still haven't received the voucher so i am guessing I am not in the test even though getting told i was

boptanana · 23/01/2014 15:23

No voucher here either!

maxybrown · 24/01/2014 17:04

same here too no voucher, this is all a bit ridiculous to be honest Hmm same as everyone else says

Katz · 25/01/2014 08:57

Before we used either stork or butter for baking and the whichever spread was on offer.

Swooping was easy, bought a big tub to be able to use for lots of things. Used for sandwiches, toast, baking and making butter icing. Was impressed.

We were happy with it, nice flavor and works well for making cakes

We all liked the taste and texture. It melts nicely onto bagels

We have continued bought another tub and wil probably continue

I would recommend it. I've been pleasantly surprised at using it to make butter icing, works straight from the fridge and taste wise almost perfect.

KJ123 · 26/01/2014 14:01

Still awaiting my voucher!

CatAmongThePigeons · 26/01/2014 16:17

Still awaiting my voucher, not holding any hope of getting one and has rather put me off Flora due to this messing about.

Alyssa1978 · 26/01/2014 18:14

question one I used flora original

question two we loved the buttery taste and the children definately noticed the difference and wanted more Smile

question three i was very impressed with flora buttery and the fact my kids loved it is a huge factor for me

question four we really enjoyed the taste and it seems really light if you know what I mean?

question five yes we have already switched over.

question six yes we would and we already have

Loved taking part in this, thank you Grin

maxybrown · 31/01/2014 12:09

I am guessing weeks down the line those of us who didn't get our voucher will not do so now? Hmm all seems very strange

CatAmongThePigeons · 31/01/2014 20:35

I doubt it now. Angelie can you tell us any more than please? Even if it is to say we're not getting them...

kelzw84 · 03/02/2014 00:40

I was also excepted for this but not had the voucher still.
glad im not the only one. did get a few emails apologising and saying that their were a few proplems but it would be getting sent soon.

wonder if we'll still get excepted into the draw or not.
makes flora look bad though as it seems like quite a few of us haven'nt had them shame as i do like flora products.

MrsPnut · 03/02/2014 11:08

I still haven't received a voucher, it's a very poor show from Flora.

AmyMumsnet · 03/02/2014 15:31

Hi all,

Thanks for continuing the flag this up to us. We've passed your messages on to the relevant people, and we hope that we'll have an update for you soon.

LoveBeingCantThinkOfAName · 04/02/2014 18:43

Very strange, wonder how many of us didn't get them?

insanityscatching · 04/02/2014 19:36

No voucher here either.

shrunkenhead · 07/02/2014 06:45

Please could you tell me when I could expect to receive my voucher, have been waiting ages now!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/02/2014 10:53

It's irritating as I didn't so much volunteer to test the product as want the chance of winning a £200 John Lewis voucher! I assume that no voucher=no feedback=no entry to the prize draw?

starlight36 · 08/02/2014 12:38

No voucher here either. Despite all the advertising on the TV I haven't seen the product widely stocked in our local shops yet. Still quite keen to try it for baking if the voucher arrives.
