We've been asked by the team at Samsung to find 20 (v lucky) MNers to try out its latest handset - the Galaxy S4 Active and to add feedback on Mumsnet.

Samsung says "We think this new handset would be great for parents. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is specifically designed to handle all aspects of modern family life - including

~ the great outdoors - with a fully sealed design that provides great protection from dust and water - you can even use the device to shoot photos and video underwater, with your results optimised by the new Aqua Mode.

~ everyday family life - we'd love you to report back on how the handset withstands your general day to day life with a child we'll be asking testers to 'allow' it to be dropped on the floor, 'eaten' by your LOs, and even 'accidentally' dropped in the bath/ (clean) loo to demonstrate how well it copes with modern family life.

~ looks and functionality - the Galaxy S4 Active also shares the Galaxy S4s slick design and useful smart services, so you can enjoy the same great style and convenience"

Full tech spec here

This new handset will be supplied unlocked for use on any network (just insert your sim) - the costs of calls/ texts/ data must be borne by testers. The handset retails for c£400 Grin.

If you're selected to take part you'll be asked to try out the handset (including some challenges!) and to add feedback at least twice on Mumsnet - we'll be looking for first impressions as well as some follow up feedback after a couple of weeks.

We'll also need you to add a review to the MN smartphones review pages
and on the Samsung pages

If you'd like to take part and can commit to adding feedback as above please add your details here

We'll be in touch with those selected asap

thanks and good luck

Not sure.. whether my application was in :( seems too late to check. Hope to get a surprise e-mail tomorrow when i wake up :)

androbbob · 29/10/2013 21:41

I am in and finding it ridiculously exciting! Just hoping I dont have to travel miles to collect if from whichever depot it will get left at! I hate the Nokia work have given me to use and as I work outside and prone to dropping stuff (esp. phones) I hope it lives upto its claims!

alemci · 29/10/2013 21:45

won't they post phones to us?

alemci · 29/10/2013 21:45

won't they post phones to us?

DoItTooJulia · 29/10/2013 22:01

They said they'd post it out, I think that andro means that depot where you're post gets left if you're not in to receive it?

alemci · 29/10/2013 22:16

yes hopefully they will come this week.

TheYamiOfYawn · 29/10/2013 23:38

I got selected, and am very very excited.

RubyGoat · 30/10/2013 06:49

Congratulations to all who have got this. Am very jealous! EnvyGrin

BerstieSpotts · 30/10/2013 07:30

Congrats! :D Now I just have to save up £400 to buy one... Grin

Indith · 30/10/2013 19:25

Wow! I'm in! Very excited but slightly worried I won't be able to work out how to use half the shiny features. Oh well sure the dcs will work it out for me. Ds2 is going to be thrilled, I usually try to stop him from throwing my phone in the bath rather than encourage him to try it out.

androbbob · 30/10/2013 21:46

DoItJulia is correct - they will be posted out to us, but if you are out then you usually have to go miles away to collect parcels. Wonder if it will arrive before the weekend??

MoogDroog · 30/10/2013 22:08

I'm so excited I'm getting a bit impatient - do hope they arrive before the weekend! Do you think they'll let us know when they're on the way?

Been reading up - sound amazing! Grin

DoItTooJulia · 31/10/2013 20:14

Moog, I've been emailed to say its coming tomorrow via special delivery!!

How exciting! It's great timing, we are off to waterworld at the weekend, so might get chance to take an underwater shot or two!

Thanks MNHQ and Samsung!

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 20:19

Mine is thankfully being shipped to my MiL, we're getting the keys to our new house tomorrow and then going up to hers on Saturday, hopefully my new SIM will be there by then.

Indith · 31/10/2013 20:20

I'm going out tomorrow but thankfully dh is working from home. Look forward to playing this weekend!

Wonder how I get all my contacts off my current phone and on to the new one........

alemci · 31/10/2013 21:22

can you put your current sim on a contract in new phone automatically or do you ring your provider. I only use phone and texts on current one.

JulietBravoJuliet · 31/10/2013 22:54

Yay I've been chosen as a tester! :) got an iphone at the minute though so not going to be able to copy my contacts over. I'm so excited Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/10/2013 22:58

Alemci you can shove it in, but if you have a normal sim you might need to get it cut to a micro-sim which is dead easy if you have a phone stall where you live - they have special shaped cutters that trim the excess plastic.

Indith · 01/11/2013 07:19

oh no do you need a micro sim? balls, I live in the sticks. I was in town yesterday!

MoogDroog · 01/11/2013 07:41

Was coming on hear to say that I'd spotted the microsim problem - I'm heading to town today (in the sticks also), and apparently Vodafone will swap it over if you take it in to the shop.

Of course, heading into town (which I need to do anyway) will no doubt mean that I miss the postie... Sad

LittleRobots · 01/11/2013 07:43

Aw I so wanted to win this!

DoItTooJulia · 01/11/2013 09:15

It's here! It's lovely!!

Just putting my sim in and charging it up!

alemci · 01/11/2013 09:52

mine arrived at 7 a.m.

I am right in thinking I need to provide my own sim card.

had to order a new sim as my phone is old and want to keep n.o.

doing a £10.50 a month package with 1gb of data. not locked in. is there a cheaper way of doing it paying as you go. any ideas?

thanks

TheYamiOfYawn · 01/11/2013 10:37

I'm charging mine up at the moment. It is lovely. Rather alarmingly big.

JulietBravoJuliet · 01/11/2013 10:40

How has it been sent? Courier or Royal Mail? Couriers can't get to my house...
