. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

It was very crunchy and there was no seperation like many other leading brands. the texture was good, strong flavour. more for adults than the dc i think

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

didnt taste as sweet as other leading brands on peanut butter

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

I would be happy to pay this as a treat but wouldnt buy it reguarly as sunpat is usually on offer around £1 so cost would be a major factor in the decision

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

Eaten on its own at first, used to top biscuits

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not

I would recommend as a treat probably more for the adults than the children and now and again rather than a weekly purchase.

Non-tester but we have both - crunchy for me and smooth for our toddler. I prefer crunchy though.

ricecakesrule · 11/09/2013 20:54

Smooth every time! Peanut butter on toast is my ideal evening snack!

M22kids · 11/09/2013 20:55

Strangely, I prefer crunchy but always seem to buy smooth because I don't like getting bits stuck in my teeth... Makes me sound really old...

ilovepicnmix · 11/09/2013 20:58

It's got to be smooth for me!

sealight123 · 11/09/2013 21:04

There is a fine knack for getting the right peanut butter combination!

For example-
Smooth for Peanut Butter and Jelly (Jam) sandwichs
Crunchy for homemade peanut butter ice cream

and for the more adventurous tastes....crunchy peanut butter and coleslaw on toast....a creation from my stepdad which is a lot nicer than it sounds :P

Crunchy is most definitely the best though!!!

missinglalaland · 11/09/2013 21:08

Not a tester. We prefer smooth.

I slightly prefer crunchy. Although I do love smooth. It's a close contest. I bloody love peanut butter. Grin

Bollard · 11/09/2013 21:15

We buy crunchy for me, DH, DS1 and DD1
Smooth for DS2 and DD2

GetKnitted · 11/09/2013 21:16

We prefer crunchy on toast or smooth in cooking :)

FrillyMilly · 11/09/2013 21:29

I love crunchy but the kids prefer smooth, so we just have two pots on the go.

majjsu · 11/09/2013 21:29

A non tester but my LO and I love smooth.

Coffeechick · 11/09/2013 21:30

I prefer crunchy myself

manfalou · 11/09/2013 21:31

DS has only tried a little on toast... wasn't that fussed =( it was smooth.... if any of the testers made the Peanut butter cookies and would kindly send me the recipe that would be fab ;) I love peanut butter and these sound rather interesting.

I prefer.. CRUNCHY

imawigglyworm · 11/09/2013 21:35

im a non tester & I don't eat peanut butter personally. My DH & DS's do and they all prefer smooth peanut butter.

Viewofthehills · 11/09/2013 21:39

Not a tester, but we have always buy this. Prefer crunchy unless we're making peanut butter cup mixture which needs smooth :-)

tutu100 · 11/09/2013 21:50

I prefer crunchy peanut butter. The kids aren't keen on peanut butter as they find it quite cloying in their mouths, but they will only try smooth peanut butter, they've refused to try my crunchy one.

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

We liked the consistency and texture, especially the chunky lumps of peanut. Nice big chunks of peanut. Less sticky than other brands we've tried.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

I prefer it to our usual brand, but that could be because we've been on an economy drive recently so have been trying value level products. It is thicker, less sticky and a more pleasant taste and texture to these brands.

As another tester has mentioned, my only concerns would be the added salt (for the DC) and the use of palm oil, which I understand is environmentally damaging as a crop. Further research required though!

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

It seems quite a high price, but again that could be due to the recent austerity drive in our house. It feels like a premium product to me, so I suppose it would command a premium price to match.

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

I had it on toast, and my daughter loved it in a sandwich with bramble jelly. We haven't cooked with it yet, but may attempt some peanut butter cookies at the weekend (if there's any left...)

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend it for it's taste and texture, but I would also probably mention my reservations about the salt and palm oil content.

zipzap · 11/09/2013 21:51

Non tester here.

I like both crunchy and smooth peanut butter so tend to ring the changes for a bit of variety.

However my all time favourite way to eat peanut butter was in some delicious bars that were made by a chain of cookie shops back in the early 90's (something like Mary Mapple Cookie shops but I can't remember the name exactly). Anyhow, they made the most wondrous peanut butter bars - thick dark choc on the top, a layer of salty peanut butter and then a crumbly delicious wonderful biscuity/oaty/nutty/brownie/not sure what exactly layer on the bottom that was great. And the overall combination - heaven! Would love to know how to recreate them...

Actually it's probably just as well that I don't as my waistline is significantly larger than it was in those days Sad

Clary · 11/09/2013 21:52

1/ they liked it, tho I think they missed the sugar content of the other brand we buy. I prefer it without the sugar.

2/ I think Whole Earth was yummy.

3/ No it's too dear for me in my current state of austerity shopping. PB lasts a few days for a jar in this house.

4/ Ate it on toast and also made Ngella's Peanut butter cookies.

5/ would recommend it with a rider about the price.

DownyEmerald · 11/09/2013 21:56

Smooth!

tigerchair · 11/09/2013 21:57

Crunchy every time here... even straight from the jar, yum Smile

EstoyAqui · 11/09/2013 21:58

I like crunchy but DD and DS both prefer smooth. That being said smooth is nicer in a toasted peanut butter and jam sandwich. Mmmmmm
