This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who have been trying out the new 2in1 recipe mixes from Schwartz.

Here's what they say: "The new 2in1 range offers two easy to use recipe mix sachets in one handy pack: one sachet flavours the main dish whilst the other contains a seasoning for a complementary side dish or topping. With five different varieties to choose from, and an easy recipe on the back of each pack, this is a great way to try out new dishes or transform an existing family favourite from ordinary to special."

Mumsnetters have been trying the following recipe mixes:

Below are some questions for you to answer but please do feel free to add any other comments you may also have. Garlic and thyme roast chicken and crispy potatoes.

I'd rate it 3 out of 5. The potatoes are a 4 really, but we were disappointed with the chicken.

The flavour of the chicken was barely discernable, mainly because it was rubbed on the skin and we don't eat the skin. Despite scoring the meat before cooking, the flavor didn't penetrate much.

The potatoes were lovely however. Good, tasty flavor.

The 2in1 wasn't very difficult to use, took only a few minutes.

I used the recipe on the back exactly.

I wouldn't use this packet again, but am looking forward to using the others.

It didn't make my mealtime easier, just enhanced how I'd usually cook a roast dinner.

Garlick and Thyme Roast Chicken with Crispy Roast Potatoes. I would rate this recipe 3.5 out of 5. I used skinless chicken fillets instead of a whole chicken. I mixed the powder with the oil and painted it straight on, this gave a nice garlicky flavour. I did the same with the par boiled potatoes but found them a bit bland and needed salt. Like the other recipes this is easy to follow and does make mealtimes a bit easier. I followed the recipe apart from using fillets instead of a whole chicken and i would buy it again, just tweak the seasoning a bit next time. These recipes are a great to have in your store cupboard. Myself and my husband both liked this recipe. For some reason it won't let me add my picture!! Will try that seperately.

  • Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
Southern style crunchy chicken bites + BBQ dip
  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
Variable. They all ate it without complaining that it was too spicy, which I had been concerned about. My fussiest eater loved it, as did my toddler. My other child "didn't like the sauce, Mummy, but I liked all of the rest of it. Except the chicken." Personally I found the breadcrumb mix a little salty and I wasn't at all keen on the tast of the barbecue sauce.
  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
It was very easy.
  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
I followed the recipe.
  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not significantly. The "making BBQ sauce by adding powder to ketchup" seemed rather gimmicky as overall I'm just as likely, if not more likely, to have ready-made BBQ sauce on hand as ketchup. Indeed, on this occasion I had barbecue sauce and had to go out and buy ketchup specifically to test this product.
  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I still have to test the others so still reserving judgment overall. This one? Overall I think we as a family liked the breadcrumb mix, and I'd probably buy that on its own if it were available. However I wouldn't make the BBQ dip again, so I probably wouldn't buy it just to end up throwing out the dip mix (although reading above, perhaps TheDeadlyDonkey and I can come to some sort of arrangement... Grin)
  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
Liked it, overall.

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
Garlic & Ghyme Roast Chicken & Crispy Roast Potatoes
How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)?
4
What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
We all really enjoyed it. I expected the flavour to just be on the skin but it went through to the meat underneath. The potatoes were tasty too and the flavours went well together. we like gravy with a roast so I used the chicken juices and the pan the potatoes had been in to make the gravy, which went well with the flavours. Apparently the carrots, broccoli and curly kale weren't very nice (thanks kids) but I can't really blame Schwartz for that.
How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
Easy- not harder than a normal roast chicken dish but considerably tastier.
Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
Yes, apart from making the gravy to go with it.
Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
No easier, but no harder, so good for the added flavour.
Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future?
Yes. They are only 64p in Asda and I have already bought an extra pasta bake and a crunchy garlic chicken (as it was missing from my trial pack).
Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
Everyone loved it. I would like to try this one with drumsticks or thighs, and will chuck my usual carrots and squash in with the potatoes next time.

  • Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
We tried the Southern Style Crunchy Chicken Bites and BBQ Dip tonight. We had them with tortilla wraps and some salad.
  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)
From the cooks point of view, I'd give this 4 out of 5. It was easy to prepare if a little messy and the finished product was very tasty. DH really liked them and gave them 4.5 out of 5 as he enjoyed both the chicken and the dip.
  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
The children weren't so keen - DS (6) really doesn't like spice and said these were too spicy for him although he did eat them all so it can't have been that bad. DD was having a mega picky night and even turning down the extra potato faces I'd made her saying she didn't like them when she's had them plenty of times before so nothing was going to impress her tonight.
  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
It was really easy. I remembered to use 1 hand for egg and the other for coating so I didn't get too messy. I like the fact that they were oven bake-able as it meant I could thrown them in the oven and get on with something else while they cooked.
  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
I followed the recipe. I did guest-imate the measurements for the ketchup though.
  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
It did tonight. I really needed to fit a run in before dinner and was able to put this in the oven and go out while dinner took care of itself.
  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think we might try this one again. I served these with tortilla wraps and DH said he really preferred them to our usual fajita meal that I serve in a similar way. DH really liked the sauce too. I tried it and it was tasty but I'm not a massive BBQ sauce fan so I swapped to mayonnaise which was really nice.
  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
I liked it. It was a little messy to prepare but with this sort of recipe, it has to be unless you're buying the chicken ready coated. I can see there would be nights where I can't be bothered with the mess but when I can, I would certainly try this again.

  • Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

The roast chicken and taties

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

DH gave it 3/5, but I only gave it 2. DH rates my normal roast dinner 4-5/5.

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

Neither DH nor I thought it added anything. I hated the smell of the chicken while it was cooking, but the potatoes were more promising. The coating left the potatoes dry, though.

DS2 wolfed his food down without complaint, but DS1 completely refused to eat his dinner. He didn't like how it looked - said it looked inedible.

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Not difficult, but I was almost blindsided by the potato coating being in the bigger sachet.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

I tried to follow the recipe as closely as possible to get a fair comparison with my normal chicken dinner, though I amde allowances for my fan oven, which cooks chicken a lot quicker than the times on the packet.

  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

No. I normally grab whatever's tasty in my herb planters or fridge door and shove it up the chicken's bum. It's not hard. I also normally make a trivet of celery and carrots and add water to the tin. Because I didn't do that, I ended up with nothing to make gravy with, which contributed to the dryness. The breast of the chicken looked like it was drying out, so I had to cover it with foil.

As for the washing up - I have a tin full of black, gritty gunk for DH to deal with.

  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

No. Certainly not this recipe. I felt like I was defiling a perfectly lovely organic chicken and the result wasn't worth it.

  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

I disliked it. It didn't make the food inedible, but did nothing to improve it.

babsmam · 23/06/2013 18:46

we just had the Mediterranean chicken and pasta except I did it with tuna. it was nice enough and makes a quick meal when the kids are hungry. I liked the cheese and garlic crumb topper. we were not keen on the sauce too much oregano taste, the sauce was a bit watery but that could just be aldi chopped tomatoes. my eat anything 3 year old didn't link out as it was too spicey. think that would be the cayenne pepper. the grown us liked the warmth that gave. would give out 3/5. not sure I would buy it again but will have a go at my own crumb topping.

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

Garlic & Thyme roast chicken & crispy roast potatoes

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

4.5

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

Chicken was delicious and roast potatoes delicious!!

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy to use.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

Couldn't really add any more ingredients and I am a stick to the recipe kind of person.

  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

It made it tastier my dc's are always guaranteed to eat chicken and roast potatoes.

  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes maybe not every time will have to see how much they cost.

  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

It was a winner for sure. My dd doesn't like frozen or pre -made roasties so I was a bit worried that these were slightly different. She noticed but ate them and said they were good.

Hmm seems adding a phone pic will be tricky as can't seem to do it with the app :/ Would like to say thanks though to the person who pointed out that you need to cook the pasta on the pasta recipe first - that's my next one to try and I hadn't noticed either!

Questions

  • Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

Garlic and Thyme Chicken with crispy roast potatoes.

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

4/5

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

The chicken smelled lovely and the skin was nicely flavoured, but the actual chicken was just chicken really. The roasties were really nice though, the flavour wasnt too much, DD ate them all and DP enjoyed them too, despite being quite fussy.

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

I followed the recipe exactly.

  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

It didnt make it any easier. I cook roasts regularly so it was no different. If we make it again it will be for the taste of the roasties, not because it was easier.

  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, because the roasties were lovely.

  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

Loved it for the potatoes. The chicken flavour is just a like because the flavour was limited to the skin.

LaVitaBellissima · 23/06/2013 19:26

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

Tonight was our first trial and we made the chicken tikka with raita

How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

4 the chicken was really tasty and I surprised myself by liking the raita as cucumber is one of the few things I hate to eat.

What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

DP and I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great summery meal, dc's didn't like it but they are 2.5 and rarely like anything that isn't milk, melon or peas!?!

How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy, I liked marinating the chicken as it made it quicker (and tastier) to cook. The girls helped stir the raita.

Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

I followed the instructions but only added half an onion as I was worried it would be too overpowering, next time I would add it all as it was great, I might try and dry the cucumber a bit more with kitchen roll though as the raita was quite watery. I also think it could taste good with Greek yogurt as that's what I usually use when making dips or dressings.

Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I liked splitting the prep by doing the marinade earlier in the day, and it was nice trying something new

Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

This one yes, but would also buy just the tikka mix on it's own if possible as it would be great cooked cold for sandwiches or picnics.

Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

Really liked it

  • Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

We tried the mediteranian pasta

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

3

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

Dd refused to eat it, but she is fussy. Dh liked it, he liked the crunchyness of thr topping, but thought it was nothing special, and I liked it but thought the flavour of the topping was too much, and I didnt use it all. I would recommend using a little less topping.

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

I thought the instructions were clear, i liked the look of the packet. It was fairly easy to follow.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
only thing I changed was that I used a red and green pepper, instead of a yellow I think it was meant to be
  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
I am not sure how much easier it made making pasta, as it created more washing up, as we used an extra dish than normal, ( two saucepans and a dish) and took a bit longer than it would normally too, as it needed to be grilled
  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I might not buy this one as i prefer s simple pasta sauce but maybe another one
  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
I generally liked it

Garlic and Thyme Chicken with crispy roast potatoes.

Rated 4/5 by the whole family.

DCs like the flavour of the Potatoes especially. The Chicken was okay but we don't eat the skin so some flavour was lost I think.

Mix was easy to use, we followed the instructions and ate with carrots and peas plus gravy.
It probably made doing the potatoes a bit easier. But the chicken was just a normal roast with a coating.
Would buy it again as the potatoes were a hit.
Liked the chicken and loved the potatoes.

GenericDietCola · 23/06/2013 19:55

First day of testing in the generic house...

I don't think I've ever bought this type of packet mix as I usually cook from scratch and would use seasonings such as herbs, spices individually rather than in a pre-made mix, but I put aside my slight snobbery and embraced the test!

Today, we (DD aged nearly 4, DH and I) tried:

Garlic & Thyme roast chicken + crispy roast potatoes

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

Let's say a respectable 3 out of 5.

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

The flavour was good. I didn't eat the skin of the chicken, but felt the meat had taken on a decent flavour. The roast potatoes were very good too. It did taste quite salty to me as I don't normally use this sort of flavouring and stopped adding salt to cooking when DD was weaning, so I suppose I've got used to slightly blander flavours. DD and DH both said they liked the flavour and enjoyed the fact that it was a bit of a change.

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy, hardly any additional work to how I would usually prepare a roast dinner.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

I followed the recipe as stated.

  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

No easier. DD always eats a roast dinner very well anyway needs cajoling to eat most other things though

  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I don't think we would use this particular one again, but we are looking forward to trying the fried chicken recipe as this isn't something I would normally make and if it gives us an easy way of making this, we would buy again.

  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

We liked it.

babybythesea · 23/06/2013 20:09

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
Garlic & Ghyme Roast Chicken & Crispy Roast Potatoes

How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)?
3

What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
The potatoes went down a treat. DD (age 4) has become a bit fussy about potatoes recently but she inhaled these. However, the chicken was nothing special. It gave a bit of flavour, but no more than the usual things I use to dress a roast chicken. And the gravy made from the chicken juices was blander than normal, because it didn't have the same mix of bits I put on the chicken.

How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
Easy.

Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
Yes. Followed exactly.

Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
No easier, but no harder. It's a roast which is a bit of a faff to bring together whatever you do!

Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future?
Yes. I have already bought an extra pasta bake.

Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
We liked it, mainly the potatoes. But we won't buy this one again as it didn't add anything to a normal roast, so it's not worth the cost. If we could buy the potato mix by itself we might be interested!

IcouldstillbeJoseph · 23/06/2013 20:29

We tried the garlic & thyme roast chicken with crispy roast potatoes. I'm afraid we would rate this as 1/5, what a disappointment.

We did not think there was much flavour to comment upon - definitely didn't make the chicken taste of much at all. DS (2.5) managed a few roast potatoes but actually ate a carrot and broccoli instead of the chicken.

The mix was very easy to use.

Yes, followed the recipe.

The mix made no difference to the mealtime prep.

Will definitely not buy this one again, didn't like it at all.

Hate would be a bit strong, but it wasn't liked!

babybythesea · 23/06/2013 20:34

Having done the official questions for the roast chicken packet, I realied I didn't do them for the pasta bake mix. My summary is on p1 of the thread but I will do it again, properly!

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
Med pasta bake with crispy crumb topping

How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)?
4.5

What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
We all really enjoyed it. DD (age 4) is suspicious of anything she hasn't seen before and she loved it - success! Both DH and I enjoyed it. The crumb added something to it that my normal pasta bake doesn't have.

How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
Easy. Really easy!

Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
Yes. Followed exactly. But this is a dish that could readily be messed with - loads of veg would work well with it so you could easily put it together from whatever you happened to have in your fridge.

Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not massively easier, because pasta bake dishes aren't hard to start with. But it wasn't difficult to do by any means.

Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future?
Yes. I have already bought an extra pasta bake. This will sit in our storecupboard and will be used on those evenings when you get to 5.30 and realise you haven't even begun to think about dinner. We are never without chicken breasts in the freezer and a tin of tomatoes so this will mean we always have a standby meal.

Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
We liked it. Quite a lot.

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?

Garlic & Thyme Roast Chicken and Crispy Roast Potatoes

How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

Definitely a 5. This was hugely popular. The potatoes were superb.

What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

We all loved this - DD loves chicken but is fussy, so I was concerned she would reject the chicken, but she loved it. DH and I thought it was very tasty, and the potatoes were amazing. I wish I could buy the potato seasoning on its own.

How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy to use.

Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

Followed the recipe exactly as on the packet, just served them with veg and gravy.

Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not easier, but not harder either. Definitely worth using.

Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I will definitely buy this again. I have looked for it in the supermarket already, but couldn't find it. I would also love to buy the potato seasoning on its own to go with other meals.

Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

We loved this!

Questions

Which 2in1 recipe mix did you try?
Garlic & Thyme roast chicken + crispy roast potatoes

How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)
5/5

What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?
Really liked this one! Chicken skin was very crispy and delicious, not that DC got a look in on that! Chicken itself was juicy and tender. The potatoes were tasty too but did need a little longer in a higher heat over while the chicken was resting to get properly crispy.

How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?
Very easy

Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?
Followed this one exactly (except for the additional higher temp cooking time for the potatoes)

Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?
This one didn?t so much save me time and effort as thinking. I didn?t have to gather all the different bits for seasoning the chicken and the potatoes but to be honest cooking a roast is cooking a roast; time/effort involved are much the same as without it.

Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not necessarily this one but maybe others in the range. Didn't make enough of a difference to the meal prep time to spend the money on it.

Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?
Liked it but didn't love it.

Tonight we tried 2 in 1 Southern Style Crunchy Chicken Bites + BBQ dip.

  • How would you rate this recipe mix out of 5 (1 being lowest and 5 highest)

  • What did you/your DCs think of the overall flavour of the product?

I found it very disappointing. It felt like it was too processed. The quality of the chicken I bought (from a supermarket, not our usual one) wasn't as good as it should be for the price, though that wasn't anything to do with the product, but it didn't help. The flavour was very subtle, I felt that I could make it myself with my own spices and have a much better flavour.
The DCs didn't really go for it, they found it too peppery. They are used to home cooked food, and DH and I have made homemade chicken nuggets for them before which they liked. This didn't compare at all.
The BBQ sauce wasn't any better than a branded BBQ sauce, and the kids didn't really like it either, even though I initially told them it was just ketchup!

  • How easy, or difficult, did you find the 2in1 mix to use?

Very easy to use. Fine for a really quick supper if you are not trying to impress anyone.

  • Did you follow the recipe on the back of the packet or did you add/take away any other ingredients?

I followed the recipe on the back.

  • Would you say the 2in1 recipe mix made your mealtimes easier at all? If so, why? If not, why not?

No. Nobody really liked it. Although it was quick, it would have been just as quick if I had made the recipe mix myself with store cupboard ingredients. It even made the meal more difficult as nobody really liked it (and we were all really hungry!)

  • Do you think you will buy, or look to buy, Schwartz 2in1 recipe mixes in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

For this particular recipe mix, very unlikely. I will make my own. I look forward to trying out the other ones though.

  • Overall, would you say you loved the 2in1 recipe mix, you liked it or you hated it?

Hated it. Sorry! But thanks Mumsnet!

Okay - have tried of the mixes now. Will post individual reports!

  • Tried Southern style crunchy chicken bites + BBQ dip
  • We'd rate it 3/5
  • This was quite popular with dh and the dcs (I didn't taste it as was at work when it was made). They liked the chicken element lots - said it was v tasty but the bbq sauce was a lot less popular. General consensus was that the BBQ had a 'funny taste' however when I tried it a couple of hours later when I got in I liked the sauce. Either it improved in standing or it wasn't 'sweet' enough for dh and the dcs who are sugar fiends.
  • DH found it very easy to use and followed the recipe on the packet without adding anything.
  • It made it easier in that it gave DH an idea for a meal that he wouldn't normally have made - and then he didn't have to faff around trying to find the necessary spices etc.
  • Yes, possibly. Still have a sneaking suspicion that the mixes are somehow more synthentic/artificial than making our own mixes but happy to be proved wrong over the testign period. :)

Didn't love it or hate it - thought it was fine.

(No pic cos DH didn't take one).
