Q1 They are fab! Smell lovely, make bubbles, moisturise, clean and look after her skin just like any other brand! DD has sensitive skin and we have had no problems with these products at all Enjoy using them and will enjoy using them in future!

Q2 We use Johnson's or Lush on our DD and I found the Aldi range v comparable to the Johnson's range in every way except price!! The smell/consistency/colour of the products was just like other products, of a very good quality. Kind and gentle on her skin I am more than happy that they performed as well if not better than other brands. No improvements to suggest!

Q3 Bath - good bubbles, good smell, excellent cleaning, not too much residue in bath after
Lotion - not too greasy, lovely smell, moisturises, doesn't stain clothes
Shampoo - familiar colour and smell ;), cleans hair, no tears!, soft fine clean hair once dry
Oil - nice smell, a little greasy, but locks in moisture v well, leaves skin soft for hours, but leaves clothes a bit too oily to use for 'best'

Q4 Yes! All except the oil, but we are not generally oil users, and have so much left in the bottle as it is very easy to use sparingly. All the other products were as good as anything we've used before and much cheaper!

Q5 Already have recommended, was in Aldi and mentioned to a friend similarities to Johnsons but better cost and she bought some bath and lotion to try

I liked them, I would buy them again if I was in Aldi.

I think they are just as good as johnsons which i normally use. I thought that they all stood up against them given how cheap the mamia products are aswell compared to johnsons. I also use asdas little angels and would put them on equal par with them but not better.

Although i think they could have been more imaginative with the packaging. It was almost identical to johnsons, every single bottle and the writing on the bottle was almost identical. I think they could take a leaf out of asdas book with their little angels and do a completely different bottle designs.Also the bottles i recieved were very scratched and a bit battered. To be honest I dont know if they were all like this, it could just be mine but it would put my off buying it in the shop if they were that scratched up.

Mamia Baby Bath : I liked the smell of the baby bath, was quite bubbly although the bubbles did seem to disappear more quickly than some others i have tried.
Mamia Baby Lotion: Only used this once as my son doesnt need it but it smells nice and wasnt to oily a lotion for him. Left his skin soft.
Mamia Baby Shampoo: I really liked the shampoo, i only use a small amount but my son has a lot of hair so it rubbed in well and appeared to be okay for his eyes.
Mamia Baby Oil: Dont really know what to write about this, not really any different to any other baby oil i have used? No complaints really.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

I would definetely buy the baby bath and the shampoo in future. Probably would not buy the oil or the lotion but that is more because i dont like to use unecessary products on my sons skin.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Mamia baby toiletries to other parents of babies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them if a parent was looking for an alternative to the more expensive brands like johnsons.

On the surface they look good. Look identical to Johnsons in how they are packaged. My bug bare is lids being a sod to open when your hands are wet. No such problem with these. They all did their job in that dd was clean afterwards but tbh I didn't like them
dd is 8 months and we are still ploughing through the masses of toiletries we were given when she was born. So so far weve used johnsons shampoo and bubble bath. Mothercare bubble bath and boots baby oil. I've never used moisturiser before. The aldi ones perform just as well. In fact we thought the shampoo created more of a lather BUT they all stink. I mean really chemically which automatically put me off n think they would be quite hard on babies skin. They aren't but the chemical smell is really overbearing. Also the consistency of the product could be improved. Mainly the shampoo n bubble bath. Rather than liquidy they were quite jelly like.
baby bath. Did the job. Plenty of bubbles (and we still use the baby bath) but it smells really chemically and that mixed with the blue colour makes me think it was quite industrial rather than gentle bath time clean your baby stuff. Also it was quite gelatinous

Shampoo was ok. Got her hair clean and a good lather. But again gelatinous and smelt over chemically

Baby lotion. I've never used one before. But nice baby colours in the pink bottle. Makes me think soft and gentle. Smell a bit perfumeie and a little went a long way. However dd did feel really greasy afterwards no matter how much I'd rubbed it in

Baby oil. I don't like baby oil normally as it really hurts my hands and after a while it no longer feels like a smooth liquid. This was no different.

I don't think I'd use these products again. Id rather pay a little bit extra and get a branded one like johnsons (although places like home bargains or wilkinsons always have good offers on it) that smell nice and seem more baby skin friendly
I'd mention to a friend that aldi do baby toiletries and if on a budget they might do but they just weren't for us. Or they can have a go with our leftovers n decide for themselves!

I thought they were just as good as any other I've tried and better than johnsons or cussons.

I don't use lotion or oil on DD. The bath bubbles have a lovely smell and her scalp is less scaly than usual.

Yes I'd buy them.

Yes I'd recommend them, most baby toiletries are far to pricey.

Have enjoyed trying the mama baby range products, they do as they say on the label, the amount of product for the price is great.
Have sampled many baby products before, the Aldi range are definitly better then wilkinsons brand and tesco and would say especially the shampoo is like the johnsons baby shampoo. The baby bath product is the only item i wasn't too impressed with, simple baby products definitly win here.
Bath - did not like the smell it reminded me of Parma violet sweets, struggled to get many bubbles and not much of a lather
Baby lotion - absorbs well, smells nice and goes a long way for the money
Shampoo- great, smells nice, washes out easily, no tears, leaves hair soft
Baby oil - bit greasy, need a really small amount, nice smell
Yes would definitly buy the shampoo and body lotion again, and would highly recommend Aldi products to friends as a cheaper yet still high quality of baby product to use.
I would not buy the products as a gift for a hamper purely as the look of them is very basic but the actual products are good.
Have really enjoyed having the oppertunity to try different products, thanks

This is tricky because they are so akin to johnsons and i'm not keen on johnsons products. So i liked them but some products more than others. I loved the bubble bath but i wasnt keen on the baby shampoo.

They are exactly like johnsons and judging by aldi's advertising campaign and the packaging that was exactly their aim. They worked just as well although the baby oil felt more greasy. What i would say is that they were far more gelatinous than johnsons (bath and shampoo) they came out almost jelly like and didnt pour. It took a lot if agitating to mix the bath one and the bubbles didnt last long. I loved the palma violets type smell of the bath stuff. They were nice but i prefer ranges like green baby, little me etc.

Mamia Baby Bath

It was too jellylike, needs to pour better. Had a lovely smell but the bubbles could be more abundant!

Mamia Baby Lotion

Really nice, lovely smell, soaked in well.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

I wasnt keen on this but then im not keen on johnsons. It was certainly no tears when i rinsed it off on my baby and toddler but the smell wasnt great and it also left both kids with a dry scalp.

Mamia Baby Oil

A bit oiler than johnsons so didnt sink in as well but it had a nice smell and worked well. I used it on my own legs after shaving! On baby i used to massage her skin after her bath and she smelt lovely. Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not? I dont think so, they are excellent value compared to johnsons but they just arent my cup of tea. I prefer things like bath milks and herbal type smells in the kids. I'd be more inclined to buy it if it mimics johnsons natural range. Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Mamia baby toiletries to other parents of babies? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes i would. Although they arent the product i prefer they are a direct comparison to johnsons for far greater value and i'd certainly steer someones choices if they favoured johnsons products.

I did enjoy using them, my initial impression was that the packaging was an exact copy of Johnsons which I felt was unoriginal and gave the impression of a cheap copy rather than a brand.

Looked just like Johnson's but a cheaper rip off. Sorry. Smelt a combination of sickly sweet parma violet top-noted on top of a chemically undertone. Not nice at all.

I tested each for smell and texture on my own skin and used the bubble bath in my dd(2.10)'s bath. Made lots of bubbles and cleaned her but I couldn't stand the smell and so I couldn't bear to use on my newborn. Seemed too harsh! I normall y use Johnson's baby nightime bubbles (purple bottle) and no more tears shampoo. Otherwise I like something with a herbal smell, esp lavender or camomile like Little Me Organics or Earth Friendly Baby.

No. I don't want to just chuck them out as so wasteful but I'd be a bit embarrassed to offer to a friend as I dislike them and think they look cheap. I might see if they don't dislike the scent first as part of the conversation, then offer them if they don't. Especially as lots of people on this thread seem to like.

Thought the packaging look was very similar to Johnson's but that seems to be Aldis thing to make packaging similar to well known brands. I did enjoy using them.

We usually buy Johnson's (when it's on offer) or asda little angels. I'd say they where very similar to these brands in terms of performance.

Mamia Baby Bath - loved this. Didn't bother DSs skin and smelt lovely like Parma violets.
Mamia Baby Lotion - only used this once. Seemed nice

Mamia Baby Oil - I really like this but would only use at bed time when pyjamas are going on as a bit greasy. I've been using it on myself too.

I enjoyed using them, but with the colours and styling of the packaging they looked a lot like Johnsons products, and I think their own distinct branding would differentiate and stop people unconsciously comparing brands.

They compared very well, they felt like good quality products. We have used Johnsons and Sainsburys own. The baby lotion was better than Sainsbury's own baby lotion.

Mamia Baby Bath - LOVED the parma violet smell! Seemed to lather ok (but we don't run long baths so there's not much time for bubbling)
Mamia Baby Lotion - this was fine, the smell was nicer than Sainsburys own brand, but there isn't really anything to pick between Mamia and Johnsons.
Mamia Baby Shampoo - this didn't lather quite as much as the Johnsons shampoo does but it certainly got DD's hair clean and untangled and it still smelt and shone well the next day.
Mamia Baby Oil - a little thinner than other baby lotions but not excessively greasy which was good

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not? The bubble bath definitely, because of the smell. If they were cheaper than Johnsons or other own-brand toiletries then I would definitely buy these again.

Yes I would, especially if I was aware that they were on a budget and these were cheaper. I don't feel these toiletries are so great that they would warrant a separate trip to Aldis, but if I knew someone was going there anyway I would mention that the toiletries were very nice.

One other thing - a body wash would be good. We frequently shower DD and so like to use a baby-equivalent of shower gel.

I use johnsons and boots own products usually. Not knowing the price its hard to see how they will perform but they do seem like a good budget version of the leading brands.

The Baby bath was good apart from the smell it wasn't an awful smell I just don't like palma violets! I did find that I had to use a little more than usual to get the same foam as my usual johnsons, but as it was a much bigger bottle that isnt a problem. I didn't try the baby lotion as not sure what to do with it and the smell was a little strong. The shampoo was great and I thought it was better than my usual one and my LO hair seems super shiny, but the smell was just awful it reminded me of furniture polish so I would not buy that again for that reason alone which is a real shame. The baby oil was the best of the bunch, I usually use boots own extra soft skin one, but I thought the mamia one was fantastic and it had the classic baby powder scent which lasted and masked the scent of the shampoo which was a bonus.

I would definitely buy the baby oil again and if the smell of the shampoo changed I would buy that.

I would recommend them as I assume the price will be good and would definitely recommend the baby oil regardless of price as it moisturised really well.

Q2) again I couldn't get away from the fact they felt like cheaper versions which put me off quite a lot. I'd much rather just have the original version than a copy cat. I was hoping these products would have their own identity and offer something new but this really isn't the case
Q3) all of the products have quite overwhelming fragrances and generally I prefer more subtle, gentle scents which seem gentler on sensitive skins.

As soon as they arrived my first thought was that they look exactly the same as Johnsons products - same colour bottles etc...I used the baby bath and the shampoo frequently but the body lotion not so much. I did not use the oil as I don't like using oil, even Johnsons oil so I cannot compare.

We have used Johnsons products, body shops baby burriti (I think it is?),and tesco's own brand . The Aldi Mamia range compared very well to the others.

Baby bath - loved the smell of Parma violets (which I think is the same as Johnsons??). Liked it so much I used it in my bath and I have sensitive skin but no problems :)
Shampoo - makes her hair smell lovely, cleaned her hair lovely and haven't noticed cradle cap flaring up so it works well on sensitive skin. The only thing wrong was as I was using it I noticed a strong chemical smell, but as it does the job I just ignored it.
Baby lotion - good. Works well.
Baby oil - didn't use, sorry.

I would buy the baby bath again definitely, if even just for myself to use! I do like using Johnsons bedtime baby bath (and tesco's copy of it) so it would help if Aldi added that to their range.

I would recommend the baby bath and the baby shampoo. I'm not sure on the cost of these but I imagine a lot cheaper than overpriced branded toiletries :)

Q1. They look like a cheaper version of johnsons, and not very imaginative. I found the lids quite cheap quality and a bit sharp round the edges which is not good for slippery fingers! I only liked the lotion but not the rest.
Q2. I normally use johnsons, as I was worried the aldi range would be too harsh on my baby's skin due to the strongg artificial smell and consistency. The lotion performed well and left a nice velvety feel, but I was really put off by the Parma violet/toilet duck smell of the bubble bath and its gloopy consistency. Also I would of liked a small explanation of why the ingredients were chosen and how they would benefit my baby. Please improve the smell of them and make them seem less artificial! Johnsons seems more natural and caring for my baby's skin, this stuff seems like a knock off from the market.
Q3.
thumbs down to baby bath, I was put off by the artificial smell of the bubble bath and its globby phlegm like consistency. It just seemed as if I was pouring toilet duck mixed with Parma violets into my babies bath, which although it didn't do him any harm, made me worried that it would be too harsh on his skin.
Lotion had nice consistency and made my baby's skin feel velvety soft. Not overly keen on the smell.
Oil was comparable to johnsons.
Shampoo wasnt quite as foamy as I would of liked and a bit globby and unnatural.
Q4. Maybe the lotion but not keen on the rest as I'm worried what they may do to my baby's skin due to the smell and overall artificialness (packaging, smell, consistency)
Q4. I would probably advice my friends against buying them unless they loved Parma violets! Again I would be worried they may cause a reaction with some baby's skin so would be hesitant to recommend them.

I was pleasantly surprised by the toiletries. I'm not sure why they have chosen to copy Johnsons packaging quite so closely.

I didn't notice any real difference in the amount of bubbles produced. But the consistency is a bit odd very jelly like in comparison to Johnson or Boots own brand.

I liked the smell of the baby bath although it is quite strong and it left ds1 and 2 clean which is the important bit

I'm not normally a fan of lotions and potions for babies/small children but the baby lotion was ok i didn't think it left any more greasiness than other brands.

I was pleased with the shampoo it performed just as well as premium brands, there were no tears and it smells nice.

As with the lotion i don't use much baby lotion but it seemed to do what it was supposed to.

I would quite happily buy Mamia baby bath and shampoo again in future if i was shopping in Aldi as they held up well in my opinion against premium brands.

I probably wouldn't buy the lotion or oil simply because i don't buy them very often regardless of brand.

Knowing that a lot of parents are in a tight budget i would be happy to recommend Mamia to others as a good affordable substitute for overpriced premium brands with practically identical ingredients.

They looked basic but I don't mind that but I didn't really enjoy using them. I must point out I am a big fan of Aldi products in general but not keen on this particular range.

Q2
I normally use Little Angels for bath products and E45 for lotion as my son has eczema. I didn't find the Mamia range as good as my usual products. For me the smell could have been improved and I would have preferred if all the products had been dermatologically tested as from what I could tell only the baby oil and lotion had been.

Q3

Mamia Baby Bath: Bubbled up well but the bubbles lost form quickly and couldn't pick any up in my hand. It smelt of Parma Violets which I don't like and was a strange consitancy, not like a liquid.
Mamia Baby Lotion: Smelt a bit like old ladies, left the skin soft but not smelling very nice
Mamia Baby Shampoo: Smelt a bit harsh but lathered up well, there was no no tears formula so was worried about getting it in my son's eyes. Didn't smell very pleasant once his hair dried.
Mamia Baby Oil: Smelt nice and absorbed well. It left baby's skin soft.

Q4
If I were to buy any of them again it would be the baby oil as it was the only one I would consider as good as it's competitors.

Q5
I wouldn't recommend most of the products, again maybe the oil. I wouldn't be happy telling people to try it when I didn't think the products were up to Aldi's normal standards.

Q1 - At first I was surprised how they looked so similar to the equivalent Johnsons products. This made it really easy for me to tell which product was what (handy when you're covered in bubbles trying to wrestle with a slippery baby!). I enjoyed using all of the products on myself and baby. Each one felt and smelt lovely. Lots of bubbles and a little goes a long way with each one.

Q2 - I usually use Johnsons products so was pleasantly surprised with how good the Mamia products comapared. As above, a little went a long way and I could still feel the moisturisers for a long time after using. I use baby oil and lotion on my own skin and loved them both. I don't think any improvement is needed as even with sensitive skin and eczema in the family, they were gentle enough for everyone.

Q3 - Mamia Baby Bath - loved how bubbly this was, smelt lovely and rinsed off skin with no residue. Would like this to be in a bigger bottle!

Mamia Baby Lotion - smelt lovely and didn't feel sticky like the Johnsons one can. Absorbed very quickly and was easy to apply to a wriggly baby.
Mamia Baby Shampoo - I've only used this one in my own hair (as baby has a little bit of cradle cap) and I have dreadlocks, it was easy to use, very frothy and washed out without a trace. Some shampoos leave a reused but this did the job and washed out great.
Mamia Baby Oil - I used this on baby and myself, was very kind to sensitive skin and smelt devine. It absorbed really quickly and left skin feeling lovely and silky soft with that 'baby smell'. Lovely.

Q4 - Yes, I've already stocked up (for bath time at my mum's house when we're visiting). They're all such great value and I won't be buying any other brand!

Q5 - I've already mentioned to other mums about the products and they were all surprised that they were so cheap and effective. I also met another mum who'd also been given samples by MN and she was also very impressed.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries? Did you enjoy using them?

I can't say I did enjoy using these products. Like a few others I found the smell really quite harsh and a bit chemically. Certainly not as nice as the range I usually use. I know Aldi almost copying the design from another brand is not something new and it did mean even without the writing on each product I would have known what each was.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?

- Mamia Baby Bath
- Mamia Baby Lotion
- Mamia Baby Shampoo
- Mamia Baby Oil

I did not find that the products performed as well as Johnsons products which we normally use.

Baby Bath - this was quite gelatinous as others have mentioned which I found strange. I like my bubble bath (whether for me or my baby) to be able to pour easily. I then found it did not produce bubbles as easily as Johnsons and the smell was not as pleasant.

Baby Lotion - the smell of this was not as bad as the shampoo and bath product. It went on okay but it wouldn't make me go especially to Aldi to buy it.

Baby Shampoo - this was the product I liked the least. It did not leave my little girl's hair as shiny or soft as the Johnsons products and the smell was chemically and unpleasant. I also found the texture of the liquid not as user friendly.

Baby Oil - of all the products this was the most like our usual Johnsons. It seemed to work well and left her skin soft but as we don't use Baby Oil that frequently it doesn't appeal that much.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

I wouldn't buy any of these products. I don't know how much they cost but as you can often find offers on Baby products in many supermarkets I don't see that as an issue.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Mamia baby toiletries to other parents of babies? If so, why? If not, why not?

No I wouldn't. I didn't enjoy using them and quite honestly am thinking of how to get rid of the products as I don't want to continue using them on our LO. I wouldn't recommend something to friends that I'm not prepared to use myself.

My first impressions were surprised that they looked identical to Johnsons baby products, thought they would of been more unique to Aldi rather than copying another brand, very unoriginal! Was keen to try them though as I am always on the look out for the best baby toiletries I can find.

I don't like Johnsons as a brand they have far too many chemicals in their baby products and unfortunately the Mamia range is exactly the same. I have tried so many different products (sainsburys, boots, tesco, asda, Johnsons, weleda to name a few) but will be sticking with my favourite so far which is Burts bees baby as I prefer more natural baby products. If you like Johnsons then this is as good at a fraction of the price. They could improve them by making them more natural and I'm surprised they don't have a baby body wash or baby soap in the range.

Mamia baby bath - I found this smelled really nice and produced a good bubbly bath, no issues with it.

Mamia Baby Shampoo - this seemed quite good, I did like the fact it wasnt runny like Johnsons as that always reminds me of washing up liquid. I
Used it on both DS and DD, lathered well and rinsed cleanly with no residue. DD has sensitive scalp and it didn't dry it out like a lot of products have. DS has some dry skin on his scalp and although this didn't get rid it also didn't make it any worse. Lots of chemicals in this again though but on a positive note I did see that this shampoo has panthenol in it which Johnsons doesn't so overall I would definitely say this is better than Johnsons.

Mamia Baby Lotion - I don't normally use baby lotion but did try this once, seemed ok but as I don't normally use I have nothing to compare it to.

Mamia Baby Oil - Again I don't normally use unless skin is very dry but tried it once, seemed fine but very greasy so wouldn't recommend using too much of it. Smelled really nice.

I would probably buy them if I were a fan of Johnsons as they are probably better in my opinion but I just don't like using chemical ladened baby toiletries. Comparing against Johnsons they are very good value for money. Not for me though.

If it came up in conversation and I knew the person used Johnsons or were looking for something of value then I would definitely recommend because as I said previously the products seemed on a par if not better than Johnsons. It's all the chemicals that put me off these products.

I would definitely be interested if they brought out a "naturals" range.

Which I can understand but it just made them look like cheap imitations - why not design your own packaging? I couldn't help to then compare them to the Johnson's products which I have used, which is a shame as I may not have done this if they weren't designed to look like them. Johnson's is hardly amazing packaging so why copy it? Good sizes and good price. Overall I think a good budget buy.

Do you think any of them could be improved in any way? I have used Johnson's, Little Me, Boots, Palmers and Burt's Bees. I prefer the smell of Little Me, Burt's Bees and Palmers. The nicest smell in the Mamia range is the baby oil. I found the others a bit chemically smelling after a while. I prefer organic/natural ranges and my baby has eczema so I also use emoliant based products. The products certainly performed as well as the others, I think it comes down to knowing what the ingredients are and the smell. I also have to say I like nice packaging if it is going to be on display in my bathroom and the Aldi range isn't great.

Mamia Baby Bath - like initial Parma Violets smell but it changes to a more chemical smell after a short amount of time. Disliked the jelly like consistency, which does not disperse as well in the water.
Mamia Baby Lotion - nice consistency, okay smell
Mamia Baby Shampoo - jelly like again which I didn't like
Mamia Baby Oil - no issues with this but I don't normally use baby oil on my baby. I personally feel it is an old fashioned product not really used by modern day Mums.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not? I might use the lotion again. I will certainly use up the samples as they perform well. If I needed to economise I would buy them in the future but when I can afford more natural products I would stick to those as I just orefer to keep the chemicals off of my baby. I would as an economy brand as I don't think they are a poor substitute, it is really just the packaging and the jelly consistency of the shampoo and bath product that let them down. (which let's face it isn't the end of the world!)
