Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries? Did you enjoy using them?

They looked like a complete copy of johnsons, I think they would of been much better with there own identity, as you felt like you were using a cheap version. That said, I was impressed with the quality as I normally shop in aldi but buy toiletries elsewhere.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?

I found the bubble bath, shampoo and lotion equal to my usual brand of johnsons, but without the gorgeous johnsons smell. I found the oil took a long time to soak in, and wouldn't use again

Mamia Baby Bath

Liked amount of bubbles and left skin soft, dislike smell

Mamia Baby Lotion

Good quality soaked in well, again not too keen on the smell

Mamia Baby Shampoo

Good quality, washed out well, smell could be improved

Mamia Baby Oil

Took too long to soak in with a wriggly baby, won't use again, but I don't use oil anyway.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

If in aldi I would buy all but the oil again, however overall I prefer my usual brand

I wouldnt tell people to avoid, as I would other aldi toiletries! However I didn't rate the products high enough to recommend, they were just 'ok'

We've only used them once so will wait before reviewing, but I wanted to ask-

What am I supposed to use the oil and lotion for? My DC don't need moisturising as they're soft skinned anyway.

The overall impression of the toiletries was that they were a cheap Johnsons. The packaging was identical, this has positives and negatives, they fit in well with the rest of Aldis products but also look like a cheap copy.
I did however enjoy using the products,

The products were similar to the Johnsons range but ubfortunatly all smelt more chemical, an improvement would be to make them smell more natural. You don't want to use harsh smelling products on a babies sensitive skin.

- Mamia Baby Bath
Disliked this product. The smell was very overpowering similar to that of Parma violets, was very gel like and so needed working to make bubbles. The bubbles although there began with a lot soon disappeared.

- Mamia Baby Lotion
Liked how it seemed to moisturise more than the branded competitor, my baby doesn't use this so I tested it and it left me feeling lovely and soft.

- Mamia Baby Shampoo
Smells nice and not to overpowering, bubbles well, didn't like how you couldn't smell it the next day on my babies head, you can with the Johnsons right up until bath time.

- Mamia Baby Oil
Liked the flip top lid, a little thicker than Johnsons but this is just an observation not a like or dislike.

I wouldn't buy the bath because of what I stated above, the baby lotion I also wouldn't buy as we don't use it, if I was in desperate need of the other products then I would buy them if in Aldi doing my shop but wouldn't go to aldi to buy them, similarly if I didn't need them I could hold out to buy Johnsons.

I would recommend them as they performed well, my dislikes are opinion (smells) and I think are a good cheaper alternative baby range.

Yes enjoyed using them as always keen to try new products especially those at a good price. It was handy that they replicated the Johnson's range as then I knew exactly what was in each bottle at a glance but very unoriginal, would rather if they had their own identity.

In terms of volume for price, these are unbeatable. We've used Johnsons, Halos and Horns and have been gifted more high end products such as Burt's Bees and Neal's Yard. Next to these, the Aldi range does look very cheap but that's because it is!

Mamia Baby Bath

Liked the violet smell for nostalgic reasons but on the whole thought it was a rather chemically smell. Good bubbles, washed well.

Mamia Baby Lotion

Nicely perfumed, moisturised well.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

Good lather and DDs hair was soft afterwards so liked this a lot.

Mamia Baby Oil

Not too greasy and used it on my legs too!

Not sure - good value for money, would most likely get the shampoo again but felt it was all a bit artificial plus the packaging was ugly, rather something a bit more upmarket looking on the bathroom shelf - yes I know that sounds shallow!

Yes if someone was looking for a cheap and cheerful product

My first impression was that the bottles are very big, a lot like Johnsons but not as attractive.

I usually use Asda bedtime bath, which I prefer the look of, but the Mamia bath does just a good a job and smells nice. I usually use Johnsons shampoo and the Aldi baby shampoo did perform just as good but i dont personally think it smells as nice, It smells a bit chemically. I think the general look and smell of the products could be improved.

I really liked the smell of the baby bath which smells like parma violets (Mmm!) but i think the colour is too artificial and not necessary. The baby lotion was quite greasy and didn't soak into my daughters skin very well. The shampoo smelt a bit artificial but apart from that was just as good as johnsons in my opinion, and i would consider buying it. The oil is not a product I usually use but had a nice smell.

I would consider buying the shampoo and baby bath as they are good value and generally good products! I probably wont buy the baby lotion or oil as its not something I use.

Yes I think I would recommend them as they are good value for money and seemed to be gentle on my little girls skin and hair :)

Flisspaps - don't worry, if you don't want to use the oil or the lotion on your baby, then no need to add feedback on them. Unless you have another willing volunteer who would like to try them and tell you what they think?

Q1: I thought they looked like cheap pound shop imitations of Johnson's. Designing their own line would be much more preferable IMO.
Q2: I haven't really used other baby toiletries recently as DS is quite new and my other DCs are older, but in the past I have used Johnsons, Boots own and supermarket own brands.
Q3: Baby bath- I liked the smell (parma violets) and the gloopiness didn't really bother me. The smell faded quite quickly- I couldn't smell it on DS after he was dried- but that's probably a good thing, not too perfumed!
baby shampoo- Good, I liked the smell, no problems. We didn't use much.
Lotion- Not used, I don't generally use any for any purpose.
Oil- Used on my skin. I liked the smell and it was fine for me.
Q4: I would probably buy the bubble bath and shampoo in future because they smell pleasant and do the job. I don't use lotion and oil normally.
Q5: Yes I would recommend to people though I'd have to say to them, don't be put off by the cheapo packaging!

I usually use Johnsons and until something better comes along will continue to do so. I think Johnsons? products have a nicer fragrance and their baby bath lathers up much better.
To improve the Mamia range I would change the bottle design to make it more unique and would change the fragrances as I didn?t like the smell of the baby bath or baby shampoo.

Mamia Baby Bath- I didn?t like the smell at all and there was no lather.
Mamia Baby Lotion- This is the best of the range. I liked the fragrance and the lotion was smooth and not too oily. My baby has slightly dry skin on his arms and they felt smoother after one application.
Mamia Baby Shampoo- This produced a nice lather but again the fragrance wasn?t great, although it was better than the Baby Bath.
Mamia Baby Oil- This is like other baby oils, nothing special. Baby oil is not something I usually use and having used Mamia my opinion hasn?t changed.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not? I don?t think I would buy any of the Mamia range. Although I liked the Baby Lotion I think there are better brands available. My reasons are explained in my previous answers. Agree with others that said that the packaging came across as a cheap knock off of Johnsons, which made me think that the product would be inferior

I didn't try the oil but I found all of the other products comparable to Johnsons or Boots which I normally use.

- Mamia Baby Lotion - nice texture and easy to rub in, not keen on the smell

- Mamia Baby Oil - didn't use

I was very quick to try them, and I thought they looked very similar to the Johnson's equivalent which I am sure is the idea. I liked the cap as it was harder to use so it prevented losing huge amounts if my two year old got hold of them. I was concerned that the baby shampoo wasn't tear free like my usual product and I didn't like the smell I found it very artificial and a bit odd. It seemed very highly perfumed by the smell and that's very off putting for me. They seemed to do the job however as soon as I put my hands in the bath water I knew we had a problem as my hands were stinging like crazy. Most of the johnsons products we usually use do have perfumes in them and I never have a problem. But this was! I am sure that most people will be fine using them but for us we won't be buying them again. Which is disappointing because I liked the price, a lot!

We usually use Johnson's and in terms of perfomance I think they did similar however somethings to think on:

tear free formulation for the shampoo
smell to be less artificial
content of perfume additives to be lowered or removed
I personally would love a natural type of product that didn't cost a lot

Mamia Baby Bath I liked the lid being a bit stiffer, whatever is in this stung my hands (dry skin) and made bath time very unpleasant for me. However the kids liked it. I didn't like the smell.
Mamia Baby Lotion was ok,didn't like the smell and it made the skin soft but I didn't see any further benefits of continuing to apply it. Again the content needs to be looked at to make it smell better and more natural.
Mamia Baby Shampoo washed similar to the Johnson's product, I liked the lid, really didn't lie the smell and was concerned it wasn't a tear free formulation and it stung my hands so I think the content of perfumes and unnecessary ingredients needs to be looked out.
Mamia Baby Oil was ok I don't usually use oil as I not see the point and I think it's a bit old fashioned. Again maybe look at smell and perfume content.

I love aldi but i thought that the shapoo smelt like my dog shampoo. Bit sad as i was delighted they had added it to the range. ( will still buy it as it saves trip to tesco)
Aldi can you give us calpol and ibrufen generic pls......about 1.00 price point would be lovely.

I thought that the range was very similar to Johnsons- so functional everyday toiletries. The packaging was unoriginal but did make the products instantly recognisable. I can see that this may be a good strategy to encourage people to try them.

I would only ever use very small amounts of these toiletries and similar as they can be harsh on the skin. Perfect for cleaning up mucky mud and paint covered toddlers though.

I thought the products were comparable to Johnsons products.

Maybe Aldi would consider running a more luxurious natural range too- along the line of Waitrose Bottom Butter and Burts Bees.

Baby Bath
I used this 3 times in a bath alongside my toddler. I actually found it much less drying than the Johnsons equivalent on my own skin.
There were next to no bubbles- but maybe this is a good thing as less sodium laurel sulfate??
I had no feelings on the smell either way. Don't know why it was blue though!

Shampoo
I liked the smell. DS (2) described it as 'lemony'!
We used some to mix pretend cakes in the bath and ge rubbed it all over his face/eyes with no ill effects so it must be gentle.

Lotion
Used on both DS and I. A light moisturiser- not too greasy. Not much else to say!

Baby oil
Wouldn't use on DS. Used on myself. Sunk in quickly- didn't sit on my skin.
I'd actually buy to make home made moon sand (mixed with flour)!

Yes I would buy the products again. However, I use such tiny amounts of shampoo/bubble bath I'd not need to buy often.
I didn't mind DS using the products to make cakes in the bath (and would object if cost more).
Would be interested in a luxury range-eg natural oils and essential oils!

Yes if discussing Aldi products generally. Wouldn't go out of my way to recommend though.

Overall impression was that they were very very similar to johnsons! As soon as I opened the packet I thought id been sent them by accident
They were lovely to use apart from the oil. I felt it was too heavy ad left a pretty thick residue on everything.
Q2
I felt they compared well to other products I have tried. I use welleda baby on a regular basis and have tried johnsons, tesco and boots own baby lotion was and shampoos. I didn't find there wa anything 'lacking' in these products compared to others. I would suggest a smaller bottle for the oil as only the tiniest bit is needed so that bottle seems massive and possibly a better lid so less spillage? A dropper or something would be better.
Q3
Bath- lovely and bubbly, soft bubbles and smelt nice
Lotion- nice and light, possibly not as good for dry skins
Shampoo- no tears which is good, soft clean hair, smelt nice
Oil- no scent, heavy, spilt a lot, didn't really enjoy this one.
Q4
Yes I would buy the bath shampoo and lotion again. I am quite happy they work well and are a good price compared to other brands. I would however buy other brands if they were on offer to a similar price of aldi, I'm just a product snob if I'm honest! I would not buy the oil as I just didn't like using it.
Q5
I would recommend the products apart from the oil. A few of my friends are pregnant and I have mentioned that I'd tried these.

I was initially really excited to try out the range because I've loved all of the Aldi baby range so far, but I was very disappointed in the end.

I usually use Johnsons products but I've become a bit bored of them recently - they seem too chemical for my liking so I want to switch brands. Unfortunately I think that the Aldi range was too chemical too. I think that to improve them I'd really like more natural ingredients in the products. The list of chemicals on each of the bottles were huge, it made me quite concerned about what I was putting on my daughter's skin.

Mamia Baby Bath - made lots of bubbles but they disappeared quite quickly. Nice floral smell.
Mamia Baby Lotion - Didn't like it - seemed to be very greasy. (I tested it on my own skin too)
Mamia Baby Shampoo - Used it once and wouldn't use again. It made my daughter's hair very straw-like for the first few hours after washing and then afterwards it became very greasy. I was also concerned about the high number of chemicals in it. I got a tiny bit in my eye and it stung quite badly. I had to be very careful with my daughter.
Mamia Baby Oil - I was a bit 'meh' about this. It seemed OK but I wasn't overwhelmed by it.

Maybe the baby bath if I needed some and was in Aldi, but I wouldn't go in specially to purchase it. I wouldn't buy any of the other products because I didn't like them very much. I may change my mind if the number of chemicals was reduced though.

It has, in Aldi last weekend with another parent. I recommended the baby bath but told them about the number of chemicals in the others and they weren't very impressed either.

Sorry for appearing so late on the thread. Bit of a mix up, so mine only arrived yesterday.

Overall impression was great, as I had anticipated. Uncomplicated, easy to use packaging. Lids came off without needing teeth to assist (my pet hate). I did enjoy using them.
I have mainly used J&J, and would have easily believed that these were from the same brand. I recently changed to 'Baby Naked' as my little one gets irritated skin easily. I was a little hesitant, but used the lot and there was no irritation at all. They all performed great. No complaints!
Baby bath: Very concentrated stuff so a little goes a long way. Great fragrance that doesn't cling heavily to the baby. Makes a baby smell like a baby should. Doesn't create masses of think bubbles. Another plus for me as she tries to eat them!! Baby lotion: lovely! I'm not a user of baby lotions, but it made her skin soft and lightly fragranced. Baby shampoo: again, well concentrated. Nice fragrance. Made her hair super soft and kissable! Baby oil : good fragrance. Didn't irritate skin. Nice texture.
Yes, I will stock up when I next go in for the fabulous nappies. Probably not the Baby Lotion, but that's just because we don't really use it.
Yes, will recommend to everyone. I have converted many friends to the nappies already. In fact my Mum and I actually fell out because I had the audacity to put some Pampers in the changing bag (to use them up). She said 'Why are you giving ME the rubbish nappies while I have her?' I love Aldi baby products. I wish more people were less snobby and would try them!

My initial thought about the Mamia range was that it looked very similar in colour and presentation to the Johnsons range (unless this is an industry standard). I liked using them.

The Mamia products seem to do the same job as the Johnsons range which I usually use; though the consistency of the shampoo and bath were a bit thicker. The top for the bath and shampoo could be changed to a push pump type to aid dispensing of the contents (especially for a large bottle of 500mls).

Mamia Baby Bath ? I liked it, though the fragrance could be improved. It made a good lather.

Mamia Baby Lotion ? I liked it. Good moisturiser.
Mamia Baby Shampoo ? I liked it. Nice fragrance.
Mamia Baby Oil ? I liked it. Oils my Baby?s hair nicely.

Yes, I would consider buying some of the Mamia baby toiletries again (Oil and Lotion). I won?t be getting the bath and shampoo as I prefer a combined all-in-one wash.

I?d recommend the products I liked.

The only brand I've used before is Johnsons as I was bought loads when ds was born. I think these are comparable. The bubble bath perhaps doesn't foam quite as much but it was enough. I think I prefer the shampoo to Johnsons, there seems to be less residue on ds' hair and its left very soft and fluffy.

Mamia Baby Bath - I love the smell, probably because I love the smell of Parma Violets. If you don't like them you'll hate the baby bath as it is a strong smell.
Mamia Baby Lotion Nice feel and scent but the scent didn't seem to last as well as Johnsons.
Mamia Baby Shampoo - Love it. Very little needed and left hair soft. I used it to wash my own hair with good results too.
Mamia Baby Oil - It seems ok. Its not something I really use so its hard to say how it compares but I like the smell.

I'll definitely buy the Shampoo and Baby Bath if I was shopping in Aldi (which I do quite a lot), I would buy the lotion if the scent lasted longer. I wouldn't buy the oil simply because we don't really use it.

I would recommend as its a good alternative for someone on a budget.

Q1 I liked the products, nice big bottles with gentle products. Good value for money.
Q2 Used Johnsons and Boots organic. Felt better value for money, products went a long way.
Q3 - Mamia Baby Bath - not too many bubbles, cleansing but gentle

Mamia Baby Lotion - nice smell, easy to apply
Mamia Baby Shampoo - gentle lather
Mamia Baby Oil - not too keen on baby oil in general but ok for the type of product

Q4 Definitely would buy the lotion and baby bath once these run out. Q5 Most definitely would recommend as good value products

Q1 Cheap, basic versions of well known brands of baby products. They were fine, no better or worse than other comparable products. Quite nice smell.

Q2 The baby bath foamed well and smelled nice, just as well as the organic one I am currently using and as Johnsons.

Q3

Mamia Baby Bath - Nice smell, large bottle so will last a while.
Mamia Baby Lotion - Nice smell
Mamia Baby Shampoo - Nice smell, seems to wash hair adequetly.
Mamia Baby Oil - Don't use baby oil, never have.

Q4 Yes, I might buy these again as the price is probably lower than other similar products.

Q5 I suppose I would, they're nothing special but probably value for money.

My first impression was positive - thought that I had been given Johnson's range as they looked so similar. I enjoyed using them - all products seem of a high quality - I would not have known that they were not one of the more expensive ranges on the market - my son enjoyed his bath for the first time - the first without screaming (but think this was just a coincidence)!

The products was as high quality as Johnson's or supermarket's own brands that I have tried. I generally like to use organic products which don't create as many bubbles as the Mamia range. I like the Little Me Organics as a treat but these are very expensive & the quality of the Mamia range is comparable. I think the quality is fine for the price range and I don't think I would notice the difference between Johnson's and Mamia range - it's equally as good if not better - I'm not sure of the prices for the Mamia products but I imagine that they are at least half that of the Johnson's range.

Really nice fresh smell - good bubbles

Mamia Baby Lotion

nice consistency/smell

Mamia Baby Shampoo

good lather - did not seem to irriate my son's head

nice scent easy to apply

all products have easy to open caps

yes definitely - would make a trip Aldi just to purchase - I haven't tried their nappies yet but I have heard good reviews of these too

yes def as an alternative to some of the more expensive products on the market

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries?

I was surprised at how battered and scratched all the bottles were- they were posted in a padded bag so i doubt the damage was caused in transit! However, i liked the packaging as it was simple. quite similiar to Johnsons though.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried?

I didnt like the smell- thought it was very chemically, but none of the products made my sensitive skin react. I tend to use the Burts Bees baby stuff.

Q3 Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you liked and/or disliked about them:

Mamia Baby Bath- odd texture and smell!, quite gloopy. Produced a small amount of bubbles.
Mamia Baby Lotion- better smell, nice consistency, absorbed well.
Mamia Baby Shampoo- disappointing, didnt make DD's hair soft and fluffy- her hair looked like it had been dampened down!
Mamia Baby Oil- this was the best of the lot, absorbed fantastically well, smelt better than the rest, i have really dry 'outdoor' hands and it sorted them out well! lifted DD's cradle cap well.

Only the oil for my hands, and only if I couldnt get BBB.

yes- as they are well priced and I am ridiculously precious about what goes on DD!

Like other posters I was disappointed that the Johnson's packaging had been copied. This makes me feel Mamia isn't a brand in its own right.

I preferred the bottles to other products as the tops were really easy to open. Johnson's products seem to require two hands which isn't great when bathing a baby so these tops were much better. I wasn't keen on the products themselves. They didn't smell as nice as other products and didn't foam up very well.

Mamia Baby Bath: I wasn't keen on the smell at all. What a pity Aldi didn't choose a lavender scent or similar. This baby bath smelt way too chemically.
Mamia Baby Lotion: This was a really nice lotion apart from the lack of nice 'baby' smell
Mamia Baby Shampoo: This didn't foam as well as I would have liked.
Mamia Baby Oil: I didn't try this as I dont use baby oil.

Probably not. I will stock up when Johnson's is on offer.

Yes, they got baby clean and smelling lovely without her coming out in any lumps and bumps. I love the smell of the Baby Bath but the Shampoo was a little drying.

I usually use Johnsons shampoo and Johnsons Bedtime Bath. The Mamia products did perform as well as the Johnsons ones in my opinion for getting DD clean and smelling nice but I think the shampoo would dry her scalp out too much if I used it regularly.
As others have said, the Baby Bath could be less gloopy and a more natural colour - the blue looks a little too harsh, but I like the smell and it didn't cause a little rash like Johnson's Bedtime Bath does if i've not rinsed it thoroughly at the nape of her neck which is great.

Mamia Baby Bath

Love the smell, didn't like the gloopyness at first but it's not really an issue. The colour I'm not keen on - looks chemically.

Mamia Baby Lotion

Fine, looks and smells like any other baby lotions i've used - nice.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

The shampoo leaves my DD's scalp a bit dry. Not a problem at the moment because it's done a sterling job of getting rid of a patch of cradle cap she's had for months but I don't think I would like to use it regularly.

Mamia Baby Oil

I'm not really an oil user but I've tried a bit on myself and there's nothing remarkable or negative about it for me.

Yes, I would buy the Baby Bath because I like the smell and it doesn't leave my daughter with a little rash on her hairline at the base of her neck like Johnson's does. If they made it in a Bedtime Bath that would be great.

I wouldn't buy the shampoo again because it would dry out my daughters scalp too much if it was used regularly.

I would recommend the Baby Bath and that they try the oil and lotion if they used them. I wouldn't recommend the shampoo.

I thought that the packaging was very similar to J&J products,which I quite like as it means that they are more easily identified on the shelves.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?

I usually use Johnsons body wash and either Boots/Asda own brand shampoo. I found that the Mamia products compared favourably with these. They did not irritate either the skin or eyes of my babies when used and worked well. I think that the addition of a bodywash to the range would be useful as that is what I usually use to clean my grubby toddler!

- Mamia Baby Bath
I loved this. It smells like Parma Violets which I love! The bubbles didn't last very long, but this wasn't too much of a problem. It cleans nicely and leaves the babies smelling nice!

- Mamia Baby Lotion
I don't usually use lotion on my kids but I tried it myself after a shower and found it was a good moisturiser with a nice, but not too overpowering scent.

- Mamia Baby Shampoo
This shampoo was nice, it didn't irritate the kids eyes and cleaned their hair nicely, leaving it soft and clean.

- Mamia Baby Oil
Again I don't usually use oil on my kids but I tried this on my skin and found it not too greasy and with a fairly innocuous smell.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

I would definitely use the baby bath and shampoo again and would consider using a bodywash if they introduced one to the range.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Mamia baby toiletries to other parents of babies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend the whole range as they seem good value for money and definitely comparable to Johnsons.
