Can I just say that I've had to bin my shampoo! The bottle started leaking quite badly from a hole in the bottom of the bottle which must have been why everything was covered in gunk when it arrived.

I would also like to add that having compared a bit more the Aldi bubble bath with the Boots own brand one, the bubbles from the Aldi product don't last anywhere near as long.

I agree with SleepyFergus regarding the short test time vs. late delivery of the products - my comments were based on using each of the products only once. The other thing it might be worth mentioning is the way the products were packaged for delivery - just in a plastic delivery sack, my bottles were fairly scuffed and scruffy looking and I'm surprised they weren't damaged. It's not great if your testers are already feeling a bit negative before they use the product!

Thanks v much for the opportunity to test. However, the test time is very short given the products were sent out late, a d in my case dependant on picking up from the post office. Plus, I don't wash my kids hair every night, or use these products daily, so all in all, I've prob only used these products 3/4 times which I don't fe is an effective testing time. I was chased twice by MNHQ to feedback - is the urgency to feedback from you MN or from Aldi??

I felt the products looked like they were modelled on Johnsons but looked cheap and very unimaginative in comparison. A d as another poster pointed out, looking like Johnsons isn't necessarily a good thing as a lot of people avoid Johnsons.

The bottles were huge, which maybe great value for money, but unwieldy to manage when your trying to hold a squirmy baby (thinking of the shampoo in particular)

Overall, the products were okay. Nothing may special, a but basic and chemically smelling. I wouldn't buy them. I find other brand names are frequently in offer, esp when Supermarkets have baby events. Also, other own brand labels are much more imaginative. Take a look at Waitroses own, or Asda. I want to use those products based on what they look like alone.

Sorry this is a bit of a moany feedback, and being chosen to test is much appreciated. But I just don't think this was a great test to be honest.

Q1) overall impressions were good but a bit surprised at how unimaginative the packaging was, though i get why its so similar to johnsons. Overall the products looked and smelt good and worked well.

Q2) these were definately compareable to other ranges i have used. I usually use johnsons or asda. As my older 2 dcs have eczema and very sensitive skin i dont use products on them often but these were as good as the others though no better. I did really like the bubble bath as it made lots of bubbles and had a nice smell.

Q3) shampoo- it was nice and thick and lathered up well. It washed and rinsed well. It didnt have an overpowering smell so i could still smell baby hair after.

Babybath - this was the best one. I loved the smell and was nice and bubbly. I would buy this again but only for dd2 as it isn't sensitive enough for the older 2.

Baby oil - ok as far as oil goes but a bit pointless. I used it for baby massage. A little goes a long way and it smelt fine but i would still stick with olive oil as its all natural and does the job well.

Moisturiser - left baby's skin soft and not sticky and had a pleasent smell.again a little went a long way. I tried it on older dcs sensitive skin and they said it felt itchy (they're not used to any products on their skin).

In general i liked all but the oil. The one improvement if possible would be to make extra sensitive products that suited the whole family. Im not sure if i like the similarity in packaging with johnsons. On one hand it's sort of subconciously reassuring as its like a known and trusted brand. However it feels like trickery. I once bought a similar bottle accidently and felt annoyed at being duped. It also makes me think it isn't anything special/unique.

Q4) i will buy the baby bath again (if im near an aldi) for all the reasons above. I would buy the shampoo again but wouldn't go especially for it. Its on a par with the products i currently use. I wouldnt buy the oil as olive oil is more natural and better. The moisturiser was good enouhh for dd2 but its eadier to use the same emolient that the others use.

Q5) if it came up i would say theyre just as good as any other and i would definately reccomend the bubble bath.

Thanks ive enjoyed this trial. Was nice to try a different brand and was pleasently surprised :)

I have enjoyed using the products, although found the tet time v short by the time mine had actually arrived! Also i dont understand why they've been modelled on johnsons so massively- i get that that is what aldi 'do', but I think the packaging alone would put some mums off. I dont buy johnsons for good reasons, not just because of how expensive it is, and i think the packaging of the aldi brand will ring bells with some people!

I enjoyed using them and was surprised overall at how good they were, the shampoo especially left my kids hair v soft and smelling nice without being too pungent or perfumed which I dont ljke. The oil was nice- exact same to johnsons. And the bath lotion was fine but not something I had a lasting impression of, bar the colour, which made me think of bathroom cleaner to be honest!
I usy use Lush Dream cream as its so gentle and soft and has zero effect on sensitive skin. I used to use simple baby for hair but found it left course hair even courser.

I would recommend these but felt it was a shame not to enhance the feel good factor the products gave with a price list- as the perceived 'value' is greatly dictated by the price point!

Q1 the products smell lovely but would like to have seen a better packaging rather than exactly the same as johnsons colours maybe something brighter and childlike. Nice sized bottles easy to grab hold of.

Q2 these are lovely products just as good as the johnsons which I usually use. Lovely smelling and gentle on the skin

Q3
Baby bath- made great bubble and smelled lovely
Baby shampoo- gentle on the eyes and good lather smells like sweets
Baby lotion- smooth on the skin made super soft went on nicely but quite a strong perfumed smell would prefer less fragrance
Baby oil- came out too quickly as you only need a small amount, smells nice and made skin soft

Q4 yes if I was shopping in Aldi and they were reasonably priced

Q5 I would recommend these products as just as good as johnsons and a good alternative thank you for letting us sample these products, we would be happy to use them again in the future and will be spreading the word.

Liked them, packaged to look like Johnsons. The bottles are quite big, so tricky to do with one hand. Colours made it easy to identify which was which from the range. Aldi have produced the 4 "classic" baby products, but we don't use oil or lotion on baby, or toddler, and would have preferred to see a body wash and night time product instead/as well.

Compared to Johnsons, which is the main brand we use, they performed well. Babies are never really dirty, so no tough tests, but have a nice smell. They are quite thick, so we found ourselves using more than we would of the Johnsons. I wasn't too bothered about this, because of the price difference.

I ahve also used own brands from morrisons (baby first bath wash-yellow one) and tesco (bedtime bath) which also compare equally to Johnsons (and use the same colours!) apart from the price, which is much cheaper!!

Personally, I would prefer smaller bottles in the range, as they were quite heavy when full.

Q3 Thinking about each product specifically, please tell us what you liked and/or disliked about them:

Mamia Baby Bath... Nice enough smell, not as nice as a bedtime bath. Made lots of bubbles, but didn't last too long.
Mamia Baby Lotion... Don't tend to use this but tried on toddler and myself. Nice enough, left skin soft. As mentioned above, don't see this as key part of current baby range.
Mamia Baby Shampoo... Used this product the most, nice smell and bubbles.
Mamia Baby Oil... Not something I tend to use/buy but tried on myself and a little on baby. Bit greasey once we were done, so didn't fully soak in.

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

I would buy the shampoo. Shop at Aldi so can see this making itself into my trolley. Baby bath would buy if I needed some, but usually have a "stock" ao would probably buy another own brand when out and about instead (morrisons baby wash, or tescos bedtime bath are ones I have used in the past)

Probably wouldn't buy the other products as don't use oil and lotion.

I would, based on my answer to Q4.... I wouldn't recommend anything I wouldn't buy myself! I think some people would be surprised that I would that Aldi do a baby toiletries range, so that could be a selling point in itself.

Firstly apologies for the delay life is rather hectic currently however it has given me a longer period to test the products. Thanks you for letting me try the products and please see below for my feedback:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries? Did you enjoy using them?

My first impression was how similar the products looked to Johnsons in terms of packaging. I know this is something Aldi uses as a selling point i.e being very similar to product leaders.

The scent is lovely and you get loads yet do not have to use much at all.

Overall I would use these products again if I required them and I was in my local Aldi. In particular the bubble bath, lotion and oil.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?

All products are more gel like than I am used to however this was no problem and the bath was lovely and bubbly for my little ones. I absolutely would say I much prefer the scent to Johnsons, you don't need as much and the only negative is the bubbles don't last as long I would say.

The lotion is gorgeous and left them soft and smelling great for ages - family members actually commented on how lovely the baby smelt:) it takes a little longer to sink in that Johnsons but was worth it for the extra softness.

The oil was great too. I used it in the bath in water and left her really soft. It's very comparable to the market leader.

I only used the shampoo once because I tend to use dentinox for cradle cap. When I did use it it left her smelling lovely with shiny fluffy hair. I often use some of the more natural shampoos and probably would not change to the shampoo but only due to personal preference. One comment is it took a while to rinse out properly but still easier than Johnsons.

Mamia Baby Bath:

Loved the bubbles, scent and gentleness.
Bubbles could have lasted longer

Mamia Baby Lotion:

Amazing, left her soft for ages and smelt great
Took a little while to sink in (but worth it)

Mamia Baby Shampoo

Smelt nice and left hair shiny and fluffy
Took a while to rinse it all out but nothing like Johnsons and made her eyes a little red

Mamia Baby Oil

Very comparable and no feelings either way

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not?

Would absolutely buy the bubbles, lotion and oil again as all worked, smelt amazing and didn't need much at all. People have said how wonderful she smelt!!

I probably wouldn't buy the shampoo again for my own reasons stated above.

Absolutely I would recommend this range especially if they did a night time range. It's a fantastic comparable range to Johnsons and if I was in my local Aldi would now have no second thoughts about buying it.

Very late to the party replying to this (thanks to TheOtherHelenMumsnet for the kick up the jacksy!) as usually on the app rather than the PC.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries? Did you enjoy using them?

They looked nice - familiar. Most of the other supermarket own brands use the same colour 'coding' for products.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?

The bath foam didn't give us as many bubbles as our usual one (ASDA Little Angels) but smelled nice, and managed to get the muck off DD and DS.

The shampoo was a nice thick consistency so it didn't spill out of my hand, but it didn't lather well at all - to get a good lather going we had to use LOADS. We like bubbles in this house. Again, it smelled nice.

I've not used the oil - I wouldn't usually and I'm not entirely sure what it's for outside of 'adult' uses . I used the baby lotion, that was nice and left my skin feeling soft. Again, its' not something I use generally on my DC.

I think that both the bath products need to give more bubbles! A bedtime fragrance might be nice. I'd be interested in that.

Mamia Baby Bath - Nice smell, familiar bottle, cleaned well. Not enough suds.
Mamia Baby Lotion - Nice smell, familiar bottle, left skin soft.

If I was in Aldi and knew I needed the shampoo or bath foam then I'd buy those to save me a trip to ASDA. However, I wouldn't go out of my way for them as I prefer the Little Angels range.

Probably not, as I prefer the ASDA Little Angels range.

I use a mixture of things from tesco value through to halo and horns. I prefer the smell of the tesco value bubble bath and think a lavender version would be nice. We don't really use baby oil or lotion but they seem fine. If I were aldi I would do a completely different smell make them a bit different.

I tried them on my baby and 6 year old who also thought they smelt and felt very nice. Just one small thing, I would have packaged them very differently to the Johnsons range as they look like a cheap version when I fact they are good products in their own right

Mamia Baby Oil i liked all of them but the oil was a little too greasy. Baby bath smelt wonderful and made lots of bubbles, shampoo cleaned perfectly and again smelt very nice. The lotion was okay too and made our skin soft and fragrant

I usually use johnsons on my sons and found that they did not keep the nice smell for long. The packaging of the mamia looked like johnsons. They smelt nice the caps were good as it meant my 3yr old couldn't open it and they worked really well. I would change the packaging to make it stand out against rivals

Mamia Baby Bath

This was very fragrant and created loads of bubbles. It cleaned my son very well

Mamia Baby Lotion

I could apply this easily without it being too heavy on the skin. It went on smoothly and smelt nice

Mamia Baby Shampoo

Again it did the job. My baby is 6mths so doesn't have much hair but cleaned what he had without drying his scalp which the johnsons shampoo does

Mamia Baby Oil

This I loved on my baby and on myself. It left the skin well moisturised and soft without feeling greasy

Have used the equivalent Johnsons products. The lotion is a little sticky and all of them are a like chemical smelling.

Mamia Baby Bath

It may be my water but had difficulty getting a decent lather. Otherwise it was fine.

Mamia Baby Lotion

A bit sticky, not very keen on this - very chemically smelling.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

OK, don't really use shampoo on baby at the moment so used it on myself! Worked well, washed out easily, seemed mild.

Mamia Baby Oil

The best of these I think. Absorbs well; smells ok and left skin nicely moisturised.

Would consider the shampoo which seems mild and effective and the baby oil which is very effective.

I am presuming that these will be priced at less than the Johnsons equivalent in which case I would definitely recommend them especially for those on a budget.

Products are packaged to resemble the market leaders Johnsons, so impossible to evaluate without comparison to Johnsons. Overall my impression was favourable - products not identical but a good (presumably, I haven't compared prices) budget alternative.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?
Experience of other products is limited- I've only really used bubble bath for my baby so far- he doesn't have much hair and I'm not really sure what baby oil or lotion are for- my baby's skin doesn't need moisturising and for massage I prefer to use a natural oil like grapeseed. I've used Johnsons bubblebath and an 'Organic Babies' one. The Mamia baby bath didn't foam quite as well as these but I liked the smell. I have used Johnsons' Baby Lotion, Shampoo and Oil in the past, though not extensively, and the Mamia equivalents of these products seemed very similar, including the fragrance.

Mamia Baby Bath- Liked the fragrance. Didn't foam as well as other baby baths I've used.

Other products- ergonomic bottle design and easy to open, liked the fragrance.

If I were a big user of Johnsons' products, yes, I would probably go for the Mamia range as an economic alternative. As it is, I'm not using much in terms of baby toiletries so would probably pay more for a more natural product.

Sorry it's taken so long to write this... Massive sickness bug in my house

Overall impression was they look just like tesco / Johnsons Etc I was excited to try them out tho..
I thought they compared well to my usual brands, I usually use simple products and was nervous about using something else on my babies skin but they definitely didn't seem as harsh as I thought they would be. My only criticism would be the packaging. I think they need to be made to look a bit more individual rather than to copy the more well known brands.. Maybe not as cheap looking.
Bath - I liked the smell, it reminded me of Parma violets, didn't produce enough bubbles for me tho..

Lotion... I didn't use this on my baby but I used it on my 6 year old. She liked the smell. Wasn't too greasy and sunk in quickly. She smelt lovely haha
Shampoo - really like this. It was my favourite product, loved the way it smelt, it made my babies hair super soft.
Oil.. I've never used oil on her before but I liked it. Wasn't as greasy as I imagined but didn't sink in as quickly as I liked. She smelt just like a new baby which was lovely, plus she liked the interaction

I would definitely buy the shampoo again, I loved this product. It's a huge bottle too so it will last ages so its really good value. I'd probably also buy the oil and lotion again. Same as they are big bottles and will last ages. I didn't really like the bubble bath it's a bit synthetic looking which makes me nervous about bathing a baby in it !!
I've already recommended the shampoo to my friend when she complimented me on how nice the babies hair smelt

They compare well to Johnsons but I prefer less scented things - they performed fine but I would tone down the smell

Smell too strong left skin soft but I don't ususally use baby oil - very similar to Johnsons

May use the baby bath as seemed the most gentle, not the others as I just don't use them in any brand

Mamia Baby Bath

Mixed feelings about this. i didn't mind the smell and it produced lots of bubbles but the blue colour put me off a lot. I really hesitated about putting this in my baby's bath as it gives the impression it contains lots of chemicals, but I did and it was fine.

Mamia Baby Lotion

I didn't use this but it looked and smelt fine.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

Good shampoo, lots of lather, very similar to J&J.

Mamia Baby Oil

I don't normally use baby oil but used a little bit of this. The bottle is massive! Gave my baby a little massage and it was nice, made her skin soft and didn't feel too greasy and came off my hands easily.

Yes-the shampoo and possibly the baby bath for an older child. I just wouldn't use the other products.

Yes as a cheaper but perfectly fine selection of baby products.

they seem cheap. using them was fine, but the scents used did not lead me to a higher plane of ecstasy or anything.

Q2 How did the Mamia products compare with other products you've tried (please include details of what brands of baby toiletries you usually use)? Did they perform as well? Do you think any of them could be improved in any way?
they look like cartoons of J+J products, and smell like cheaper versions of them - they certainly didn't 'perform' differently though. I think the scents could be less powerful in all of them.

Mamia Baby Bath

fine, bubbled ok, neither child reacted to exposure.

Mamia Baby Lotion

used it on my own skin and it didn't seem to moisturise at all - I found J+J lotion far superior for actually making the skin feel nice. The scent was too harsh to want to put it on my baby's skin.

Mamia Baby Shampoo

best product of the 4, but why a 500ml bottle? who uses that much baby shampoo?! we are only on our 3rd 300 ml bottle of baby shampoo for 3 year old DS!

Mamia Baby Oil

I don't use baby oil much, but again found the scent a bit off putting here.

no, they just smelled a bit cheap and chemically for my liking.

if I knew someone already shopped at Aldi, yes, but not something to go out of their way for.

My overall impression of the range was a copycat of the Johnson range but far reduced quality. I started off using the baby bath and was instantly put off my the smell, far too chemically and synthetic for my liking. The product was really gloopy but did produce bubbles and my little one didn't seem to bothered by it.
I next tried the shampoo which was a bit better than the bubble bath but I still felt the product was too chemical.
The baby lotion didn't smell that great but was soft on my baby's skin. The baby oil was a little too greasy but not too bad.
I wouldn't choose to buy the product again as I would prefer to spend a little more on a natural product that didn't have so many chemicals in (see the ingredient list on the products!).
I would only recommend the product to a friend if they were on an extremely tight budget and just needed a product to work without any frills.

Bottles and design VERY similar to Johnsons, products smelled ok and bottles were easy to open with wet hands

These seem to be designed to be a direct rival for Johnsons (which is what I normally use) and compared very well with the branded products.

Q3
Mamia Baby BAth - lots of bubbles, smelled nice, though was a rather offputting bright blue colour

Mamia Baby Shampoo - lathered up well, the jelly like texture was a little odd at first but I found I acyually prefered it as it was easier to control the amount being dispensed and it didnt run into DD's eyes

Mamia Baby lotion - moisturised without being greasy, nice smell

Mamia Baby oil - don't really use much baby oil, but seemed to compare well to other brands I have used in the past.

I'm a massive Aldi fan anyway and would definately buy all these products again

Yes, no hesitations. They are a quality alternative to branded products

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Mamia range of baby toiletries? Did you enjoy using them?

As a Johnsons & Johnsons user the similar packaging gave me the expectation that the product should also be similar. My main (illogical) reason for using J&J to begin with was their "No tears formula" - if these products have the same formula/benefit then it would be good to state that somewhere on the packaging.

I would switch to a cheaper brand, at the moment I stock up on J&J only when supermarkets run their baby events.

I'm a loyal J&J user, my Mum used them on me and I've never thought about using any other brand (god, I'm a brand manager's dream!) so I can only compare with them. The only factor that would encourage me to switch is price, if I could get a comparable product for a significantly cheaper price then I would switch.

I don't use baby oil and rarely lotion but gave these a go anyway - they seemed to perform well. The shampoo and baby bath were also comparable to my usual products.

On the whole I found the products OK but over scented and over coloured, J&J is less nuclear!

Mamia Baby Bath, I loved the smell as I'm a big fan of violet scents, I'd go out of the way to buy this but only to use on myself. For babies it's far too perfumed and the blue colour looks more like toilet cleaner than something you'd use on a baby.
Mamia Baby Lotion, again too coloured and scented.
Mamia Baby Shampoo, seemed identical to J&J but I'd like to see a reference to a "no tears" type formula to feel really happy using it on my children.
Mamia Baby Oil, didn't evoke any strong feelings either way

Q4 Do you think you'll consider buying any of the Mamia baby toiletries range in future? If so, which product(s) and why? If not, why not? Not unless the colour/scents are calmed down (or DH gets made redundant and I have to start really economising!)

Assuming the products are a lot cheaper then yes, I'd say give them a try but with a warning about the extreme perfume & colour.

good general impression - smaller bottles for the lotion/oil perhaps? takes am age to get through that much.
the name 'Mamia' suggests both mother and baby usage (and i have used myself!) I like the packaging and flower motif, it is sweet without being identical to the cute bottomed baby you get on most.

2)Improvements..hmm..

I liked the smell of the shampoo - nicer than Sainsburys own. Nice clean finish and doesn't leave hair as flyaway and itchy as Johnsons did.

the baby bath - didn't bubble well, nice smell though. Better bubbles!

the lotion - really liked it for me, felt a bit too chemically for baby. went on nicely, but don't need to use much - little goes a long way. a purer feel.

the oil - good smell. smaller bottle would be better as i said.
seem to have covered likes/dislikes but -

I don't usually shop at Aldis not because of product range but because of poor service and the parking for their shop is restrictive (almost never a space, never mind one easy to get kids in/out of carseats from)
I do think this range is very attractively priced and cheaper than expected - would recommend as an 'as good but cheaper' to Tesco's/ Sainbos/ johnsons.
