  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I enjoyed this bread toasted with butter, it reminded me of the fruit loaf I used to eat as a child, although I wasn't keen on the extra sweetness from the cranberries & blueberries - it tasted a little artificial.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

DS (2) gobbles anything down and this was no exeption! DD (6) thought it was a "treaty bread" so was very happy that I allowed it for breakfast as well as an afternoon snack! She did comment that just those two "meals" for her and DS had used up pretty much a whole loaf though - with a couple of slices eaten by me too! Her only "negatives" were that she would have liked more fruit in it and it was quite sweet, although to be fair that might not have been a bad thing. She liked the packaging with lots of fruit pictured on it.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

We eat seedy wholemeal bread usually anyway so this wouldn't have much impact for us, but I can see why it would make the bread appealing for those with children who only like white bread.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Depending on the price, I would possibly buy these and the bagels again. I usually buy cinnamon & raisin bagels anyway as an occasional treat - we love them! I wouldn't buy the bread too regularly though as we got through the loaf so quickly, I imagine it would soon get expensive.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would possibly mention it to a few of my friends. One in particular has a child who is quite fussy, but does like toasted teacakes, so I might mention this to her to give her an extra breakfast option to add to the routine.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I liked the different coloured fruit. Other fruit breads we have bought just has black fruit in it. Smell was lovely as well but perhaps more of a spicy smell? Wasn't as fruity tasting as I thought it would be.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

Ds3 (3) loved it, he has been asking for it every morning for breakfast. He liked it both as it was and toasted. Other two dc were not overly fussed but they are picky with fruit and raisins anyway.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Not really as they already eat a good amount of fibre as it is. I'd be more impressed with the fruit intake.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Yes as ds3 likes it. Have picked up the muffins today for him to try for a chage, will be putting grated cheese on a toasted one.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Possibly, based on the fact ds3 liked it.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I thought it was very nice, although there wasn't enough fruit, you couldn't really taste the blueberries and the name reminds me of the cereal (so I was expecting something a bit more fibre filled and dense). The loaf was a bit small, I would have preferred more, we got through two loves between the four of us in less than three days. It made a good breakfast and snack.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

Both DC liked it, especially DD who dislikes most fruit breads as they usually contain peel of some kind and she hates it. It was sweet and really appealed to their tastebuds.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Maybe slightly more likely, but I make sure the DC get plenty of wholegrains in other ways. In addition this bread is very sweet so its unlikely I would buy it often enough to make too much of a difference to their diet.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Yes. I'd buy the occasional loaf, once a month or so as a bit of variety. I don't think I'd buy it more regularly than that as there are lots of other things the kids enjoy too. I'd probably try some of the other products in the range depending on how they were priced.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes probably. Its a nice enough bread.

Lilyloo · 30/09/2012 08:52

My overall impression was good, I liked the packaging and the smaller size loaf.
I gave it out at my dd sleepover, 2 out of 4 liked it. My dd's didn't but it was only the berries they didn't like. Maybe different fruit loaves would address this. I loved it as it wasn't as sweet as a team cake and was much easier to toast.
That message would encourage me to buy it if I thought my dc needed more of that in their diet.
I would definitely buy it again, yes and will be trying the other products in the range.
I would recommend it yes.

Thankyou for letting us try it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/09/2012 09:13

Ok mine arrived yesterday, (parcel in the post office was a book). The date on it was for 29th plus 2 days, so I was a bit concerned about the amount of time it had been in transit. I popped one in the freezer and the other in the fridge so that we'd have chance to eat it.

  1. I thought it smelled a little bit chemically fruity but then often blueberry does for me. I thought the bread was a nice size for breakfast. It was a little dry in texture but see above. I really liked the test though, especially toasted with cream cheese and jam. Yum!
  2. Dd thought it was really tasty too. She didn't want hers toasted.
  3. I'm very much into making sure we get enough fibre so it def helps. I'm wondering if the fibre helps lower the gi of the bread as my once concern about the fruit, yum thou it is, is that it might make it quite a high gi product.
  4. I really like the idea of the muffins (if you mean English muffins) and bagels. I'd probably have them as a weekend breakfast.
  5. If it came up in conversation I would, but I don't often talk over breakfast options with friends!
peppamum · 30/09/2012 10:06
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

It was smaller than I expected but that wasn't a bad thing. Two slices is a good portion for a child. It was a bit bland too, with less fruit than I thought, but in fairness, I ate it both toasted and untoasted and liked it both ways.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

They both loved it!

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Probably - it was one of the reasons I was keen to try it. I wanted it as a breakfast product and so there has to be something healthyish about it (i.e. not really any worse than weetabix with sugar as a start to the day - neither are exactly a health food!)

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Yes, not all the time but as a bit of a change from the norm. I would buy muffins or bagels too, as a teatime treat as a sort of slightly healthier cake substitute.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, for all the reasons mentioned above

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

FIrst impression was ok, nicely packaged, good size slices and lovely smell. A pain to get into the loaf, had to cut into it as the yellow tag didn't have paper openings at the end, sticky yellow tape all the way.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

Both my children tried it plain and toasted. We tried it with butter and a few different fruit spreads. Neither of them like it to be honest. They found it quite dry and lacking in fruit. It smelt lovely, but the taste didn't match it.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

It's a great message but it won't work if the taste doesn't appeal. It's great to start the day in that way, but if it doesn't taste nice, kids won't want it.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I wouldn't purchase this bread again, to be fair the ducks ate more than us! As a family we really like other Kingsmill products and buy the bread, muffins etc and have no issues with them.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, there are other fruit breads on the market that are much tastier and appealing.

OnwardBound · 30/09/2012 12:37

1) What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I thought the loaves were maybe a little on the small side, although good sized slices for snacks or small children.
I thought the bag was quite difficult to get into to, with the yellow tag being impossible to break!

2) How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

I have a 3 and 1 year old. They didn't mind the bread but I can't say they loved it. I think there wasn't quite enough fruit in it for their liking.

3) Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

I think this message may be more likely to make me buy the product. I try hard to ensure my children have a healthy balanced diet and have their recommended daily intake of vitamins and nutrients.

4) Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I think if the bread was on special offer I might buy it. Otherwise there are other brands of fruit bread that I would buy first as they contain more fruit and my children prefer them.

5) Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I might recommend it as it is a healthy product with good level of recommended daily wholegrain. But I would also be honest and say it wasn't my children's favourite brand of fruit bread.

MadameOvary · 30/09/2012 15:29
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

It smelled quite appealing but in reality was far too sweet. 10% sugars is excessive for me. Would have liked 3-4% sugars (from fruit) and more attention to flavour, such as cinnamon. Would also have liked it to be be heavier in texture.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

My daughter refused it point blank as she doesn't like "bits" in anything. I managed to persuade her to try a nibble and she screwed up her face.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Not particularly as daughter eats mostly wholemeal bread anyway. And plenty of fruit.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I would buy it for myself if it had less sugars, no sweeteners, and for my daughter if you could do a "no bits" version! I would buy all these products if they fit this criteria.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

No I wouldn't as it did not have the texture and flavour I was hoping for, but thank you for giving me the opportunity to test it. I will certainly mention it to my friends and they can make up their own minds.

div22c · 30/09/2012 15:45
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

Nice tasting but less sweet and less fruity compared to our usual fruit loaf (Warburtons or Sainsbury's own brand). Less sweet is fine but would have liked more fruits. The variety of fruits is nice, rather than just raisins/ fruit peel. Like that it is freezable.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

DD liked it toasted with butter.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Not really. But it is useful for days when DD wants soft white bread rather than usual wholemeal/ granary bread.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Yes as a 'less unhealthy' snack/ breakfast :-)

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, it is a tasty and 'less unhealthy' version of fruit breads/ muffins.

Scrambledchocpancake · 30/09/2012 17:12
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?
Really liked the packaging and the smell from box as I opened it was very nice. YDC and I had fun smelling it in the car as we were waiting for the toddler class to start (we had met the postman on our way out). When we got back to the car the whole car smelt of apple and fruit so I was quite keen to try it.

  2. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?
The first night of trying the bread I thought we had got a miracle bread as my YDC who does not eat bread and picks of any topping instead of eating it devoured the lot without any encouragement from anyone. ODC however wasn't so sure. However the second tea time didn't go aswell with only half being eaten and then the third night was encouragement needed. ODC didn't like the "bits" in it although she is a fruit fiend!

  3. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?
No this wouldn't due to my kids being fairly young and that they have a balanced diet. However if they were teenagers and always hungry then yes as it is a healthier option.

  4. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?
I would consider it as it is a quick and easy tea time idea. I might try the muffin/bagel too depending on what else was available at the time. It is not something I buy regularly so is more of a treat.

  5. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend it as I really liked it toasted with butter on and the smell is loverly! Quick and easy breakfast/snack/tea. Although with all that fruit in it is part of your 5 a day?!?! :/!
Thanks for choosing me! I loved the test!!!!!

browneyesblue · 30/09/2012 20:54
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I loved the smell, and I liked the way that it toasted. It fitted in the toaster well, and I didn't lose bits of fruit.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

DS seemed to like the Fruit and Fibre bread - he ate it all and asked for more.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

I don't think that it makes a difference to me. I knew that was the message when I got the bread, but I had already forgotten by the time the bread was out of the toaster. I didn't remember again until I read it here. As a family, we tend to eat quite a balanced diet and I don't really focus much on buying foods that claim to provide XX% of YY RDA. I just buy foods that we enjoy.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I would buy it again. I liked the taste, and so did DS. I may try other products in the range if I came across them, just to see what they were like.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

If it came up in conversation, I would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre. It tastes good, and is quick and convenient to make.

Thank you :)

Kirsty770 · 30/09/2012 21:33

I really liked it, more flavour and variety of fruit than other fruit breads. The children both liked it and asked for it for for breakfast and lunches. I would look at other varieties like bagels or muffins or pancakes if they were also in the range. I would buy it again due to the extra wholegrain. I liked it enough to look out for it and buy it. I have already recommended to families and colleagues as I really enjoyed it. Thanks

missorinoco · 30/09/2012 21:42
  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I liked the size. Not too small, but not so large I would be concerned that it would go stale before being eaten.
I found the taste too sweet. I like cinnamon toast, but despite expecting to love this didn't eat it again.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?
One child loved it, and devoured the stuff. My toddler, who was really excited about the concept, was horrified to realise this was not malt loaf, I think she thought her luck was in and I was giving her malt loaf for breakfast, and was so offended she has refused to touch the stuff. Be warned if you are describing it to your kids...

  2. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Not more likely, cereals are fortified.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I would buy it for the children if they asked, and would try muffins and bagels. Most likely to buy it if on offer, I would consider it a luxury product.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I would suggest trying it, as it's different, but would probably warn adults that I found it sweet.
PurpleKittyKnitting · 30/09/2012 22:03

1) What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I quite liked it, not very moreish for me, I found the smell a bit odd.

2) How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

She knew before she tried it she wouldn't like it. She wanted to know what each bit was in the bread, but then said she didn't like the apple bits (she is 15)

3) Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

I a not a big eater of toast, always have cereal, my daughter does have toast virtually every day but didn't like this and I can't make her eat it

4) Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I don't think I would buy it. I would possibly get muffins as I like them, but I am the only person in the household that likes fruit ones

5) Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would suggest that someone tries it, and I know my tastes can be a bit 'bland' compared to most, so I think it it worth a go for anyone

Thanks for letting us to try it out

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

It was a nice 'extra' after breakfast or as a snack. I'm a big fan of Starbucks Fruit Toast and while this is not as fruity or thick it is a nice treat at home.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

Yes she enjoyed it toasted with butter.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Yes although I think I'm more focused on her having 5 pieces of fruit and veg a day as she normally has Wheetabix for breakfast.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

Yes I would consider buying it as a treat but not part of my weekly shop.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend it as very tasty - particularly the red bits ? cranberries/cherries.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I was expecting the loaf to be larger but overall I was impressed with the bread. It wasn't too sweet.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

The DC's loved it, they had it as an after school snack toasted with some cinnamon butter. Both dcs said they thought the bread should have cinnamon in it.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

It probably would to be honest.

We will buy it again, the dcs like it and we ran out of it before I tried using it for savoury sandwhiches, cheet on toast etc

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I wouldn't bring it up but if someone was talking about it I would recommend it.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

The packaging looks appealing and the bread looked tasty.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

Both DCs loved it! I couldn't tell you what they particularly liked as the comments were along the lines of "Buy some more Mum". I used it for part of breakfast and also after school. It felt like a more healthy alternative to, for example, toast and jam.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

As a family we are eating more healthily and I would probably feel this contributed to that.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I will buy the bread again and most likely will try the other products.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I will recommend it. Lovely stuff.

End result - DD was very sad there was no more of the bread left for the weekend. But I am more "Meh!" about it really.

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

It smelled very sweet, I could smell it as soon as I walked into the kitchen, which I found a bit overpowering though it wasn't an unpleasant smell. The size was perfect for snacks, though I think for breakfast any of my children would have demolished half a loaf before really being full. I liked the taste, it wasn't as sweet tasting as it smelled, though I felt it lacked spicing and sprinkled cinnamon over mine. I was expecting something with a bit more punch to it, and it was a bit bland for me. Though dh disagreed and he was very keen on it.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

The children all loved it, from 12 down to 7. They loved the fruit. However, they didn't think it was anything particularly special in terms of a real treat and the next day they wanted malt loaf rather than the kingsmill again.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Not really, because I think the kids already have a good diet and I would worry about the sugar content a bit.

  1. Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?

I'd see it as a after school snack thing, and I would be a bit wary of buying it too regularly as I would worry about sugar levels compared to them having normal toast after school. It would be a treat on occassion, probably when it was on offer! I wouldn't be keen to try the muffins or bagels personally, as I prefer these bread products in savoury flavours. I think the kids would like the bagels though, and they would probably end up in the trolley if they spotted them.

  1. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'd tell them it was quite nice, but I wouldn't go out of my way to enthuse about it, as I don't think it is that special. maybe if some allspice was added it might be different!

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

I thought the size of the loaf was good and the slices fitted perfectly in the toaster.

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

We regularly buy fruit loaves and they both enjoyed this one.

  1. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?

Yes, because neither of my children will eat brown bread so this would be a alternative

I would buy it, depending on the price, as we all enjoyed it. I would buy bagels as they sometimes eat bagels for breakfast

Yes, I would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre as it is tasty and we all enjoyed it.

I'm going to be the only one going against the grain here but oh well!

1)At first I thought the packaging was attractive and was quite keen to try it out, as were the kids.

2)We had some toasted and that was ok. The kids liked it although the neighbour's younger kids threw their slices on the floor as they didn't like "bits" in their bread. I thought it had a funny aftertaste that I wasn't too keen on.

I was going to use them in their lunchboxes but there's really nothing you can put on them. The bread already contains quite a bit of sugar so I didn't want to add to that with jam. You can hardly make a cheese sandwich with it so I ended up just giving them a buttered slice in their lunchboxes. They didn't complain though!

3)Having 35% of their daily wholegrain would help me when considering to buy it. The kids already have a healthy breakfast of porridge so I'm not really worried about that side of things, but it is nice to know that it's healthy.

4)I would possibly buy it again, though not for me. My ds doesn't really eat his sandwiches at school or anything bready but he would eat this with butter on, so it's a healthy alternative to sandwiches in his case and I would be reassured that he was eating something filling too. I don't think I would buy the muffins or bagels as again, what would you use as a filling? You can't really do anything but toast these so I think it has a limited appeal.

  1. I did test this out on 2 neighbours. The first one had kids aged 3 and 2 and they both hated it. The second said the same as me, that she wouldn't know what to put on it, so she toasted it and her kids seemed to like it. Therefore I'd recommend this to anyone whose kids are fussy eaters or who need an alternative to sandwiches.

I really didn't like it all that much so wouldn't be recommending it for adults.

) What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?

Liked the size of the loaf - smaller slices great for kids
Liked the flavour combo

  1. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

We had it toasted with butter and both DC's 2 and 6 loved it.
Liked taste.

Its a good selling point but kids have wholemeal/granary bread on a daily basis so already get a good dose.

Yes would probably try other products and the bread again.

Ideal for after school snack.

Well my bread finally arrived, 2 days after best before date Angry I checked a few slices over though and we've tried it, but it's a bit too late to freeze as it is about to 'turn' IYSWIM so won't get much out of the sample. What a waste. :( However as it was really yummy I will be buying it ASAP!

  1. What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?
was a bit put off by the smell at first as it was sweeter than a teacake (the smell of which wafts temptingly through my workplace every morning!), but it was lovely toasted with butter. I like that it is as light as regular toast, not dense like fruit loaf

  2. How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?
they both munched it up toasted with butter and no complaints, DS wolfed it down (and he's not one to keep quiet if he dislikes something!). DD was a bit confused about the fruit bits but she did like them.

  3. Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?
yes it would, because I know they like it anyway, and they only need to eat one slice to get that.

yep I will be as I've got a taste for it now! I can't see it being something we eat every day, so I'll freeze it. I think we might try the muffins but probably not bagels as I only really eat those with cream cheese and I can't see that going together.

  5. Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
yes I would - it's yummy and 'different' so why not :)

1) What was your overall impression of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? Was there anything you particularly liked or disliked?
I liked the small slices and smaller loaf as I wouldn't worry about not getting through it before it went stale. I thought the packaging was a bit fussy but liked the pictures of fruit. It smelt amazing as soon as I opened the bag. I really enjoyed it as I don't really like raisins/sultanas etc but enjoyed the other fruits in there.

2) How about your DC? Did they enjoy the taste of Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread or not? Was there anything they particularly liked or disliked about the product?

ds1 (5yo) enjoyed it and has eaten it a couple of times. ds2 (4yo) refused to try more than a tiny corner but he is generally a bit fussier. dd1 (10mo) ate some but threw lots on the floor like she does with everything

3) Kingsmill says "By eating a slice of Fruit & Fibre bread, your child will start the day by having 35% of their recommended daily wholegrain" - do you think this message would make you more likely to buy the product or not? Why?
It wouldn't affect me. I prefer to get wholegrain into the dc's via non-sweet methods so they don't think all sweet things are good for them if that makes sense. It would maybe mean I'd feel a bit better about offering it as a snack though.

4) Now that you've tried it, do you think you would consider buying Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre bread? If so, why? If not, why not? How about other products in the Fruit & Fibre range such as muffins and bagels, do you think you might try any of these? If so why, if not, why not?
I would buy it as a good home-from-school snack/occasional breakfast treat. I would look out for other options like bagels but I especially liked how toast-able this is. I would never ever have bought this product without the trial. I'm v keen to try it with cheese too although I will eat cheese on pretty much anything.

5) Finally, if it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Kingsmill Fruit & Fibre to your friends/family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would say how much I enjoyed it especially to friends who like me don't really like raisins/sultanas. I would not suggest it for breakfast though but for a snack instead.
