Following on from the fab Ford S-MAX and Galaxy testing in Christmas '09-10 and a variety of other projects in 2010, Ford have asked us to now find a total of 15 Mumsnetters and their families from across the UK to take part in a three week test drive. This time we have three newly launched cars on offer - you can choose from...

C-MAX - a 5 seater, featuring

~ Five flexible seats
~ Power operated tailgate
~ Panoramic roof and interior
~ Active Park Assist

Grand C-MAX - a 7 seater, featuring

~ Seven flexible seats
~ Power operated tailgate
~ Sliding doors
~ Active Park Assist

or the Focus, featuring

~ Active City Stop
~ Active Park Assist
~ Lane Keeping Aid
~ Traffic Sign Recognition

Ford kindly let JustineMumsnet and CarrieMumsnet put the Grand C-MAX's through their paces recently -

The team at Ford say "We're delighted to be working with Mumsnet again in 2011. We are looking forward to finding out what Mumsnetters think of the all new Ford C-MAX, Grand C-MAX and the Focus"

Conditions - please read
You can use the car for anything (legal) - but you would need to pay for any fuel you use, as well as any parking permits or parking/traffic fines.

Insurance will be arranged as long as you:-

~ are aged 25 or over
~ have had a full driving licence for three years or more and
~ have no convictions for dangerous driving.

What will test drivers need to do?
If selected, you would need to be able to offer feedback about the car on Talk at least twice a week for the duration of the three week test plus a final round up of your thoughts.

We will also be asking you to use the video camera provided to film yourself reviewing the car with your family plus we'll need a photo of you with the car and some details about you and your family. All footage, photos and information may be shown on Mumsnet and potentially used by Ford elsewhere.

Timetable
The test drives are scheduled to take place as follows - each one will last 3 weeks.

Please only apply for a car when you are around and able to test the car as well as add your feedback.

C-MAX w/c 25 July to c14 Aug x 5 testers
Grand C-MAX w/c 15 Aug to c4 Sept x 5 testers
Focus w/c 12 Sept to c2 Oct x 5 testers

If selected your name and contact details would be passed to the team at Ford who would make arrangements to deliver the car on a convenient day and time to suit you.

If you're interested in taking part please sign up by clicking here.

If you are selected, we'll be in touch.

If you're selected for the test drive and add feedback as required on Mumsnet, you will receive £100 of John Lewis vouchers.

Thanks and good luck

Do you have to video just out of interest? The survey does give the option to say no.

I've entered Grin. Really hoping we're chosen as we're travelling to a friends wedding during the trial period and would be able to give the car a great test.

Laughed at Justine screaming at the car parking itself I would too Grin.

I think I deserve to be picked after the nightmare i have had applying for this one Grin

Oh my GOD. I had no idea that you could buy a car that parks itself. Sadly watched video after I entered comp, otherwise I would have raved on about it there and you wouldn't have to read it here. That is just so impressive. Do you think you HAVE to be sat in the drivers seat, can you do it from the pavement? Shame it won't be school term, I'd love to freak the other mums out on the school run...

oh, btw, Done!

Do we get to keep the car?

We would like to test the Grand C-Max as there are too many of us to fit in anything else! But if we were picked we wouldn't be available till 18th August would this be a problem? is it still worth entering?

OMG just weed my pants at the parking thing...I avoid parking like that if it can be helped because I am rubbish at it so I will if given one of these to test massively massively give that a good going over.

Wow! I just watched the videos, these cars are amazing! Why do you even need a licence? They can park, stop and read signs on their own!
Anyway, I've signed up, as I can give it a versatile test (city, rural, toddler, adults, baby, pushchair, carseats, camping) See, I'd be great! Grin Grin
(I must add most of the above are friends/family I tend to take out, I didn't lie on the application Grin )

I'd love to try the C Max, but am driving up to Devon on Aug 6th and returning the following day which is presumably the actual collection day. MNHQ do you think Ford would collect on the 8th instead? (could you put in a good word for me please?! Wink)

AnnMumsnet · 08/07/2011 08:05

SoloAgainItSeems - think there will be some flexibility on collections of cars...so long as we have contact details for you - and you put it on the form we can pass it on (if you are chosen)

can you check to see if any of them have a tow bar and if we would be allowed to use it please? Thanks

lisad123 · 08/07/2011 09:07

it says it comes as a package, but hoping they might add one. Taking one of these camping would make for a great review. I want to know how much space there is for children, clothes, bedding and a large dog :)

AnnMumsnet I have had a full driving licence for 12 years but only converted to full UK licence last year. Could I still be eligible?

Have been umming and aahing about changing my car for ages, Now that we don't have to haul a buggy about it will be interesting to see how we would get on with a smaller car, currently have a people carrier and three children under six, but need to cut the fuel bill so would love to see how we get on so we can make a decision!

annemumsnet can you let me know if my entry finally went through? I only had to try it about a million times.

I'm dying to do this one, i've been after a c-max for ever but dp isn't too keen. Hopefully a test drive would sway him.
