We have another exciting product test for you - we are looking for 40 Mumsnetters who don't already have a Wii at home but would like to take part in "My First Wii Challenge" with Nintendo.

Nintendo say they "are keen to offer Wiis to 40 MN families to encourage them to spend fun time together as a family as well as give them the opportunity to test out some great games". If you already have a Wii, please look out for the feedback thread for this project as Nintendo would like to hear your views too (in exchange for a prize draw Grin).

If you are selected for the test you'll be sent a Wii console, handsets and nunchucks for all the family plus the following games:

uDraw GameTablet with uDraw Studio
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn, and
Just Dance Jnrs

We'd then like you to take part in 4 weekly challenges with the Wii. This will involve playing with one game per week and adding your feedback to a thread on Mumsnet.

The challenge will start week commencing 4 July and last for 4 weeks - so please only apply if you are able to add feedback every week in July.

Ideally we're looking for MNers in the UK with at least 2 children.

After the challenge is completed and you have added at least 4 lots of feedback you will be able to keep the console and games for your family to enjoy.

In addition, we will need 10 of the families selected to film themselves and their family playing with the Wii. These videos will be used on the Nintendo pages on Mumsnet in the autumn and possibly elsewhere (they will be hosted on YouTube). If you are willing to undertake the video element please indicate this on the form link below. You will be supplied with a FlipCam (which will need to be returned). You will be briefed on filming requirements but it shouldn't be too onerous.

To sign up please add your details here

Good luck and many thanks

Stan, you need to get the controller exchanged.

AnnMN, what can Stan do as her product is faulty.

Scootergrrrl · 25/07/2011 19:18

Perhaps we are going to be a cautionary tale for families who buy a Wii thinking they can get away with the basic package and not buy any extras....
(pictures Nintendo ad featuring cheapskate mother who only bought one controller rocking in a corner muttering "please share nicely" "please take it in turns" under her breath Grin)

Bohica · 25/07/2011 19:18

Ohh a social beavioural experiment! They will love my bickering brats children, You could be right though Prof becaus I want to have a right old moan about how disorganised everything has been but I don't want to appear ungrateful.

Jux · 25/07/2011 19:24

It's an experiment to see how long it takes us to cave in and buy extra controllers.

Triggles · 25/07/2011 19:43

Hey now Scootergrrrl - Nobody filming at my house so I can't imagine where they'd get that footage from! Grin

We don't have the money for extra controllers. So I guess that's that.

Scootergrrrl · 25/07/2011 19:49

There's probably a secret camera inside the Wii Wink

(goes to drape scarf over, just in case)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 25/07/2011 19:54

DS1 is getting really good at Mario kart!

DS2 just seems to be getting more andmore frustrated as ds1 gets better and better at the games and he can load a game up by himself now which he thinks is cool (I'm going to have to start unplugging the Wii box overnight now!)

ProfYaffle · 25/07/2011 20:24

Bet the experiment's null and void now we've rumbled it

Neverlandpirate · 25/07/2011 22:11

Another day goes by and still no more controllers, dance game or feedback thread.

Maybe Nintendo dont want a feedback from us anymore having read this thread- particularly when they read that we think we are all part of a social experiment on the effect of game consuls on family dynamics? Grin

Poor AnnMumsnet must be rocking in the corner somewhere by now!

IShallWearMidnight · 26/07/2011 10:37

DD2 (13) is really unimpressed with the Spongebob game. She says it's aimed at 7-8 year olds, but if she can't work out what to do, nor manage any of the games in the time allowed, no way will a younger child. I doubt this will get played again tbh.

Triggles · 26/07/2011 11:54

I actually enjoyed the Spongebob - it's rather addicting in a mindnumbing sort of way. Grin But I agree it takes a degree of coordination and reaction time that DS2 doesn't have at 5yo. (or DH at 46yo Grin but I didn't say that!!) DD seems to do well at most of the games, but then she has good coordination and reflexes. I can beat her on tennis though, thank god, or she'd be lording it over all of us!! Hmm

Triggles · 26/07/2011 11:55

adding to it that I'd like to TRULY beat her by playing AGAINST her, but we're just comparing her game to my game, as it were.

Belo · 26/07/2011 12:12

IShallWearMidnight I'm very glad to hear that your 13 year old can't do any of the games in the time allowed. It makes me feel better about not being able to do so! DDs have both totally given up on it.

Jaquelinehyde · 26/07/2011 13:49

I'm having to do all of the spongebob games myself just to unlock the next lot of games for them. The timer is way, way, way too quick!

I'm addicted to mariokart as is ds and everyone else can't stop playing the sports pack, I sustained an injury whilst fencing so have taken early retirment from sports. Grin

This thread is nearly full now, we may need to set up a new one before the feedback thread arrives!

GypsyMoth · 26/07/2011 13:52

we'll still be doing our own threads by september at this rate!

i have been doing spongebob too,but have put the games away now as its warm and sunny and dc are all out. not much point if theres no more controllers or a proper thread to post on.

Bohica · 26/07/2011 18:31

Oh I see the Chedds have a thread and Wii don't.

Scootergrrrl · 26/07/2011 18:34

Do you think they're watching us...? I'd happily swap the uDraw for another controller so we can play Mario together!

(jumps up and down, waving a single, solitary controller and sends smoke signals by burning the empty Wii box)

Fennel · 26/07/2011 18:42

Yes, but they have Chedds and we have Wiis with lots of games. Would you really want to swap?

The killjoy in me is quite happy with just one controller, I don't like computer games to be too much fun Grin

AnnMumsnet · 26/07/2011 19:32

I am hoping to have news for you soon ladies - again I am so sorry - we're all trying very hard to get it all sorted for you asap....and you'll be pleased to know tech told me how to amend the max post limit so you can all keep posting on here if you like - all feedback is welcome [weak] Smile

Pictionary is brilliant and lots of fun and you do only need 1 controller for this. DH and I would love to play tennis together or Mario but it ain't much fun with one controller.

Boys loved Kirby. Not done much udraw. SBSP is fun for them too.

Have just borrowed ZUMBA but need the time to do it!!

ShatnersBassoon · 26/07/2011 20:27

I'll happily swap the Udraw for another controller too Grin. The easy option would be to buy another controller, but I don't know if the ones promised by Nintendo will materialise, and I didn't really bank on having to pay for anything to make a success of the Wii test Blush

Still enjoying some of the games, but Udraw has been a bit of a damp squib.

Triggles · 26/07/2011 20:40

Yep, the Udraw by itself is a bit dull, but the other games with it are not too bad at all.

LawrieMarlow · 26/07/2011 23:31

Wonder if the 1000 limit has been extended yet - see this is post 999 :)

I would like another controller and hope one turns up some time.

Bohica · 26/07/2011 23:41

Nope not yet

GypsyMoth · 26/07/2011 23:42

Ds is almost 13 and loves u draw! Hogs the wii perfecting his masterpieces. He needed no instruction either, and doesn't seem to lose his temper swapping colours etc, unusual for him! He has the obligatory Tongue out whilst concentrating too.
