Do any of you have any dubious connections with famous people.. for example my best friend at school stroked Eric Claptons dog,and another friend of mine ,during our nursing training, tested Dick Emerys urine!!!!!
also I used to see an osteopath who later went on to treat Emma Bs (spice girl) mum.

Bobbins, what do you actually do? Am intrigued that you regularly see all these people!

Zoe · 09/04/2003 18:08

I used to regularly sleep in the same bed as Claire Sweeney and spent loads of time with her just before she moved down to London. I often think about sending her a Well Done card, but never have.

Bumped into various Corrie stars in Sainsburys and Corrie, Brookie and Man U stars in the Trafford Centre.

Babysat one of Gomez

Friend was in Maybe Baby and a National Lottery advert

Saw Eammon O'Neal (NW daytime presenter) at church the other week

These are a bit poor aren't they??

Janice Battersby shops at our Sainsburys!

Chinchilla · 09/04/2003 20:48

I forgot - my cousins are good friends with Jamie Oliver, and went to the evening do of his wedding.

zebra · 09/04/2003 20:53

Oh yeah. My aunts are childhood friends of the Van Halen brothers (of the 80s rock group of the same name). Went to Eddie's wedding to Valerie Bertinelli, etc.

Have been leered excessively at by Robbie Coltrane (I did extra work on "Cracker", have had Claudia Winkleman on my doorstep at 7.30am inviting dh, dd and myself to present a slot on the BBC Holiday programme (which we did and we were fab!! Got a free week in Corsica plus pay!!) Refused to give Bobby Charlton a membership card when I worked in a video store because he had no identification, served Sally Whittaker (Sally of Corra) with a pram when I worked at Mothercare. Oh, and played tonsil tennis with Pierce Brosnan in a really amazing dream.

willow2 · 09/04/2003 22:04

Toured Europe with Deep Purple in the 70's. (I was 8).
Toyah's roadie tried to bonk me (I was 13 and wisely refused).
Phil Lynott offered to scrub my back when I was having a bath. (At my mates house - we were about 11 - he was a mate of her dad's).
Sung Irish songs on Paddy's night in a bookshop with Sinead OConnor.
My best mate (she of the Phil Lynott bath) does voice overs for lots of ads and all the tv channels. (Apparently HP makes a bacon sandwich if you believe everything she says).
My bruv was awarded something to do with marine biology by David Attenborough.
My sister sings on the new theme tune to Noddy.
My other sister sang backing vocals on a Rolling Stones album when she was little.
And I have seen lots of celebrities in their undies. (Not that exciting. Used to style photo sessions.)
And made Anne Robinson tea. (No milk - just show it the bag).

misspastry · 09/04/2003 22:32

i've smelt John Malkovich's afterhave he was that close, at a table in a cofee shop, I used to dance with boy geoerge at nightclubs in the 80's and DH was at college with John Galliano, no where near as exciting as others, but wanted to contribute something!!

Rhiannon · 10/04/2003 05:45

A friend of my Dad went to Posh and Becks wedding. He was the scout that spotted him for Man U. Really nice of him to remember my Dad's friend.

Oakmaiden · 24/04/2003 11:20

OK - resurrecting this a bit, but hey.... I was in a film with Brian Blessed. (OK, actually it was a WHS video about the Hundred Years War and I was a body in the crowd and Brian Blesed did the voiceover)

I sung a song on Pebble Mill. Actually it wasn't Pebble Mill - but it was the Pebble Mill slot, one time when Pebble Mill was taking a rest. I was in a Community Opera (which was SO awful I try not to remember it).

I met Simon Green (from BLue Peter) on Covent Garden once...

expatkat · 24/04/2003 11:42

Woody Allen held open the door when I was exiting the apartment building where Mia Farrow lived with their kids. I had just been to visit ex-dp's parents, who lived in that same building. (Same ex-dp dated a girl who later married Dennis Hopper.)

And DH, when upgraded to 1st class while traveling on business once, sat across from Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was between pregnancies at the time. He used to have a massive crush on her, but said, disappointedly, that she's 'short and dumpy' in real life.

emsiewill · 27/04/2003 11:34

Dh was at the Welsh BAFTAs last night, and sat next to a local DJ (Emma Hignett from Red Dragon, for those of you in my area) who used to go out with Lembit Opik. Apparantly they were still together when the tabloids were announcing that he was with Sian Lloyd. This woman has been annoyed about it ever since, and threw a glass of red wine over him last night! She was very happy to tell dh all about this. Peter Stringfellow and his girlfriend were also there, but dh didn't get close to them, nor to Huw Edwards who was presenting.

SamboM · 09/05/2003 10:45

V excited as took dd to swings in local park and Tony Adams was there with his dd. He was having a coffee at the cafe so I sat down next to him and we had a bit of a chat (well he said one word to me) He is really quite gorgeous in the flesh, though I didn't mention I was an Arsenal fan as I'm sure he gets sick of it (and I might've headbutted him for leaving us with no leadership or defense lol)

willow2 · 09/05/2003 19:31

Oh my God. You're moving to Sheen, you have a really cool dog and you're an Arsenal fan?? Am ticket registration member - been on season ticket list for ages - and have been going to matches for about 16 years now, along with four generations of dh's family. Can I just say am dead jealous of your coffee morning - did you ask him to come out of retirement and save our defence? Am just keeping fingers crossed that we won't blow the FA cup as well. Doesn't help that I live opposite a mad Man United fan and his family, who are not letting it lie.

wigglybitsAKASamboM · 09/05/2003 22:42

Fan bloody tastic, a gooner in Sheen! I'm TRS too, been on season ticket waiting list since 1992!!

wigglybitsAKASamboM · 09/05/2003 22:48

BTW welcome to borrow scary looking dog to savage neighbour. We should meet up!

willow2 · 10/05/2003 12:55

absolutely - why don't you come to the meet up in London - think it's the 23rd? Otherwise mail me at [email protected] and we can try and hook up for a coffee.

Queenie · 10/05/2003 13:44

My almost claims to fame are that Tom Cruise ate at my cousins restaurant in Dublin, I went to school with a girl who was in the film About a Boy. Nigel Benn's brother asked me out (NO, I didn't). My DH used to be good friends with Janice Battersby whats her face woman when he lived in Blackheath in London and I had dinner with the Prime Minister of Singapore. Ok all a little debatable but I'm trying.

bunny2 · 10/05/2003 15:47

I caught the clap off a childrens tv presenter.

bunny2 · 10/05/2003 15:48

I also had a one-night stands with a famous actor. I sound like a right old slapper dont I?
I met the Prince of Wales once too.

wigglybitsAKASamboM · 10/05/2003 19:22

Did you shag him?

bunny2 · 10/05/2003 23:41

God no, wouldnt that be good story though.

anais · 11/05/2003 22:01

EVERYONE who'd been anywhere near Brighton has met Chris Ewbank - he makes sure of it - t**r.

I met that footballer bloke - the one who's married to Louise - what's his name???

My Dad works at the airport and frequently has stories about various celebs. He had dealings with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones not long ago and was very impressed. A car was sent up to collect them from the plane, but a group of 1st class passngers got annoyed that there was no car for them - got in it and refused to get out CZJ ended up travelling in the front of the baggage trolley while MD sat on the suitcases on the back!
