Chris Corcoran, presenter of CBeebies' Doodle Do will be joining us for a live webchat on Mumsnet on Friday between 1-2pm.

And, lovely chap that he is, he's recorded a special pre-webchat video for you to watch - see below.

To celebrate Children's Art Week (6-12 July), Chris has joined forces with Haliborange to host a series of exclusive creative master classes for its newly launched Shiny School. Chris has created three imaginative tutorials for Haliborange Shiny School, designed to suit ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years and needing no specialised or expensive equipment. The site gives parents ideas and tips on how to have fun and learn something new as a family, and also provides nutritional advice.

Chris is happy to answer all your questions (within reason!) during this sponsored chat, and will also be giving some creative inspiration for things to do with your children over the summer holidays.

If you can't make it on the day, please feel free to post your advance questions here.

Just for reference in case you need to picture the chap

OK it's not quite a leather jacket and speedos but you have to start somewhere

I must be tired.

I thought OP said; "Chris has created three imaginative turds for Haliborange Shiny School".

F* you MP, you have grabbed the limelight again. When did you do all that research?

morningpaper · 08/07/2009 22:10

funnily enough I have a personal interest in children's vitamins and the marketing campaigns thereof

edam · 08/07/2009 22:13

Chris, why are you the only childrens' TV presenter who doesn't gurn or act like an over-excited toddler? (This is A Good Thing, btw, wish others would follow your example.)

snice · 08/07/2009 22:33

Chris, is there a fabulous CBeebies Christmas Staff Party every year at which all the presenters get drunk and photocopy each others bottoms?

Or do you all hate each other?

ruddynorah · 08/07/2009 22:37

what's the most rubbish make you've done so far? i'd have to say the baby wipe with a peg butterflies were pretty shite.

and the best? i'd say those pigs made of milk cartons..followed by your marvellous farm yard play. genius.

do you love seeing how the kids on the vt bit do their own version of the episode's make? and do you get to script your own voice over for it or does someone write it for you? cos that bit is hilarious

If there was a 3 way fight comedy stand off between you, Big Cook and Little Cook, who would win?

What will you do for a job when the spiders get repetitive strain injury?

Have they ever done a little bit of stuff for YouTube involving middle fingers? Go on, they have haven't they?

Report
edam · 08/07/2009 23:00

lupus, Chris obviously (unless Big Cook just sat on him).

Report
WriggleJiggle · 08/07/2009 23:15

He's on facebook? Where, where, where? I need links.

i'd like him to admit that none of the show is scripted. It can't be, its just so funny. Those spiders just spend all their time trying to wind him up.

Best bit of the show - when the spiders do their own making, the voice over for the children's making, and the story where the spiders join in. Is that the whole show?

Dear God, you do all realise he's actually going to read these questions/comments/propositions/declarations of lust etc don't you?

I second edams's question/comment about the way all other childrens presenters seem to be whacked up on speed and skittles.

He does a programme on BBC Wales on Sunday morning with Rhod Gilbert which is always amusing. It keeps me company while my children go riding.

  1. Okay then, craft boy, what would you suggest for a highly excitable 3 year old and a 21 month old who likes to chuck and eat things, but is a dab hand with a crayon?

  1. Why are tv crafts of the 'glue in a nice tippy-overable pot' 'here is a nice shallow tray of paint for you to throw' variety. Is it because you don't have to tidy it up?

  1. Who comes up with the craft ideas, is there some sweatshop hell of blue peter presenter rejects forced to design objects from the contents of the average bin bag?

And are you doing more doodle do? Please? Maybe just for us?

And please answer MP's questions.

You talk to children as if they have brains and a sense of humour.
Thankyou.

The Fonz AND Doodly Chris in the space of a week - fabulous!

I'll be on my way to work during the webchat Perhaps you'd like to come to my house for a pre webchat 'craft' session?

I second what redlentil said about the way you present the show - love it.

flamingobingo · 09/07/2009 08:31

Chris - I'm so glad you're coming for a webchat here, but I won't be here when you're on

I just wanted to thank you, as RedLentil did, for talking to children the way you do. It is refreshing. Does it come naturally to you to say things the way you do?

Chris - if you could answer the following I'd be most appreciative

  1. why does my 21 month old insist on grabbing the felt tip pens from the art case that grandma "kindly" bought him, ignoring the crayons and pencils?
  2. do you have any top tips for removing felt tip pen from magnolia walls and cashmere jumpers?

Also - Big Cook Little Cook both look as though they'd rather be eating horse manure than presenting a kids tv show (the self loathing in their eyes is excruciating to watch). How have you avoided this? Or has crafting for children always been in your life?

flamingobingo · 09/07/2009 08:55

Norky - buy crayola washable felt-tips - they really are washable!

I have just been reading the Haliborange Shiny School website and disovered this,

"Chris will be doing his doodle-do across the UK, to help parents unlock their child?s artistic potential."

Chris, I am not that worried about unlocking my children's artistic potential, but wondered whether you would be willing to do your doodle-do round these parts anyway? I have glue and feathers if that helps.

harpsichordcarrier · 09/07/2009 10:13
