Columnist and author Tony Parsons will be joining us here on Monday 6th October from 9-10pm for a live chat. Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

I had Parsons and Landesman following me about the boards

Monkeytrousers · 04/10/2008 17:53

zippitippitoes · 04/10/2008 17:54

aaaai see i shouldnt be too overconc3rned about insulting him lol

CaptainJaneway · 04/10/2008 17:57

I was Landesman on here

I like Julie Burchill

Monkeytrousers · 04/10/2008 18:04

Oh Janeway, it was you. How apt

Burchill and Parsons belong in the same 'taking ourselves too serioulsy' camp as far as I can gather from the evodence available

Monkeytrousers · 04/10/2008 18:06

Oi, Purchli, you still got gout? From living the working class life?

JuliePurchill · 04/10/2008 18:20
ScummyMummy · 04/10/2008 18:26

Not sure it's relevant but does anyone know if the parson's nose on a chicken is its bollocks or its arse?

midnightexpress · 04/10/2008 19:46

Can't wait till Monday. Can he come now?

JustineMumsnet · 06/10/2008 11:00

Guys, guys, guys are you determined to run all our guests off MN? What's happened to our famed hospitality?

Surely we can muster some sensible questions between us?

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2008 11:02

well i would ask a question out of sympathy for your plight

but i dont know anything about him except the rather badly remembered music journalism

what about

what music are you listening to

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 11:07

Hi Tony, welcome to Mumsnet, who do you think is going to win the X-factor?

(Is that the kind of thing you wanted Justine?)

JustineMumsnet · 06/10/2008 11:08

Not quite... but it's an improvement I suppose!

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2008 11:09

Hi tony

welcome to mumsnet

i remember you used to be a music journalist

what are you listening to now?

JoolsToo · 06/10/2008 11:10
wavertree · 06/10/2008 11:15

Is it annoying that people get you mixed up with Nick Horby or are you flattered? And can I ask who you rate out of modern Brit writers?

duffy · 06/10/2008 11:16

Hi Tony,
I really enjoyed Man and Boy - thanks for that. I have a couple of questons:
How did the teenage years go with your son? Was it tough and have you any advice?

Secondly,
Have you found over the years that being working class has been an advantage career-wise or otherwise?

Thanks in advance.

Swedes · 06/10/2008 11:52

I gather you raised your son pretty much single handedly. I'd just like to say well done.

I gather you want to see the return of Capital Punishment? Can you explain under what circumstances?

I feel mercy is more important than justice, what do you think?

Cies · 06/10/2008 12:12

I see from your Wikipedia page that you write regularly for GQ.

Do you think there is a future for magazines such as GQ in this modern world where everything one might want to read about is on the internet? (like mumsnet of course)

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 12:30

Hi Tony, where do you think feminism is today? What should its goals be?

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 12:30

And would you really prefer to be writing for Vanity Fair?

Tony,

do you read Viz?

coco

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 13:01

I like Viz - I especially like its fake ads.
