Columnist and author Tony Parsons will be joining us here on Monday 6th October from 9-10pm for a live chat. Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

No, we all had a Parsons/Burchill/Landesman moment - must have been two years ago now - in some skit ot other. I was Birchill and Magdeline (sic) Bunting and other 'polemical' fmeinists

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2008 14:11

yes thats it

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 14:11

wrong end

ahundredtimes · 06/10/2008 14:14

You are all horrible.

Also Nick Hornby a good moral writer I think, not sure why he's being slated so.

Tony. Right.

Do you prefer writing novels or journalism?

Do you enjoy doing the Late Review or does it make your toes curl?

What is your favourite colour?

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 14:15

So do you think that MNHQ have confiscated all the well known usernames that have been registered?

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 14:28

Do you think they would ever dare ask Burchill on here? I am laughing at the thought. Could you imagine?!

Monkeytrousers · 06/10/2008 14:29

I wish get would get a feminist on here actually. A proper omne though, not Butchill. [grin[

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 14:30

Well it would be highly entertaining...

JulieButchill · 06/10/2008 14:32

This is better than Burchill actually, more accurate. Someone do Bitchhill, go on

JustineMumsnet · 06/10/2008 14:32

TonyParsons, who responded to FioFio or FloFlo as she will henceforth be known , is indeed the real Tony Parsons but he was just testing his log in - he'll be back at 9 tonight which is when the chat is happening with some more answers. We'll just change the thread title to reflect that to avoid further confusion.

See y'all tonight!

JulieButchill · 06/10/2008 14:33

Tony, do you tire of being asked about your realtionship with the gout maiden?

JulieButchill · 06/10/2008 14:35

Monkeytrousers waits to be deactivated...

Tony, what are your opinions of freedom of speech?

JulieButchill · 06/10/2008 14:36

Actually that's a good question - are you for political correctness or freedom of speech..or is that a false dichotomy. Where are you with nature/nurture?

TonyParsons · 06/10/2008 14:37

Dear Carmenere - thank you for your questions. I enjoy doing Late review because you just watch films and read books all week and pretend you are working. Also, it goes out live and that is exciting. And easy in a way because no matter how bad you are, it is over very quickly and you can go for a drink and you don't get asked to do it again. The big winner of X-Factor will be Cheryl - there's no obvious
Leona Lewis figure this year. And I like doing both journalism and fiction - I wouldn't want to just sit alone in a room for a year. And I think that if you have the nerve to criticise other people , you should have the nerve to do something yourself. People who just sit there and bitch are a little bit pathetic, don't you think? So I like doing it all. And I don't mind being mistaken for Nick Hornby. he is the one with looks and talent - and I am the other one. THE REAL TONY PARSONS

Tony, would you agree with the following statement;

'There are many evil people in the world - and all of them like Coldplay'

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 14:38

lololol

BitOfFun · 06/10/2008 14:39

do you think that kramer vs kramer was a good movie? I just ask because it seems to have stayed with you while you wrote man and boy.

Carmenere · 06/10/2008 14:40

'people who just sit there and bitch are just a little bit pathetic, don't you think?' - been lurking here for a while then Tony?

JulieBitchill · 06/10/2008 14:40

"People who just sit there and bitch are a little bit pathetic, don't you think?"

I knew he'd get in a dig
