Columnist and author Tony Parsons will be joining us here on Monday 6th October from 9-10pm for a live chat. Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

oh it's him, that one.

i get him mixed up with that other bloke who wrote a book with a football title. Can't remember what he's called either. The other one wasn't married to Julie Burchill though, at least maybe he was, but if so I wasn't paying proper attention to sleb goss at the time.

LittleBella · 02/10/2008 17:46

nick hornby, that's it.

I can't remember the name of his book

LittleBella · 02/10/2008 17:46

I've just realised I sound senile

CountessDracula · 02/10/2008 17:50

FEVER PITCH

OneLieIn · 02/10/2008 17:50

I knew what you meant. Maybe we could ask him questions about being mistaken for Nick Hornby all the time???

PoppyFox · 02/10/2008 17:50

Nick HOrnby is a bit more miserable though. How to be Good really depressed me and then his next book was about a bunch of people who met on a roof top when they were about to commit suicide. So I won't bother with the next NH.

Jux · 02/10/2008 17:57

What are we meant to ask this one about? I am assuming that if I were to ask dh about his favourite wife he would describe me or am I missing something about the modern world, now that I'm 50 and live in an alternative universe consisting mostly of mn, and bounded by my laptop?

Ginni · 02/10/2008 17:59

I really love Tony Parsons, he's one of my favourite autors, I find his books really refreshing and funny, just finished It's a Long Way Down in fact. I want to ask Tony where he gets his inspiration from for his books in general. I can't wait to read the new book.

bran · 02/10/2008 18:11

Oh, I though Tony Parsons wrote How to Be Good (it was horrendously depressing I agree PoppyFox, especially the sex for some reason). Now I'm not sure that I have read a Tony Parsons book at all.

MrsMattie · 02/10/2008 18:14

Noooooo?!

Is this April Fools come early?

Can we have Burchill instead?

For the love of God, not him.

Cocolepew · 02/10/2008 18:14

I though A Long Way Down was about actors on motorbikes

MrsMattie · 02/10/2008 18:14

Or we could have Tony Hart like Cod said. Only if he brings Morph with him, though.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 02/10/2008 18:20

A Long Way Down was written by Nick Hornby, not Tony Parsons

bagsforlife · 02/10/2008 18:30

Didn't Tony Parsons once think he was Britain's greatest living author (his words). Oh dear.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 02/10/2008 18:31

aw, bless him

MrsMattie · 02/10/2008 18:33

OK, here is my question.

Who is more supersillious, self congratulating, passive aggressive and generally fuckwit-ish?:

a) YOU

b) Rushdie - Hmmm. He scores very highly indeed on 'Sleazebag' points. You shagged Burchill But then you slagged her off for years .

b) Amis - he picks up full 'Woman Hater' points (you're not quite as misogynistic)... but you lose 'Right to bore on and on on Late Review' points because (and it pains me to say it) he is cleverer than you. You gain a slight edge for not having a ginger-ish hue to your barnet.

c) Hornby - you're equals when it comes to writing drivel. in fact, is Nick Hornby your 'Nom de Plume'? Come on, fess up.

Hassled · 02/10/2008 18:35

MrsM - the answer is b) Amis.

Views re Parsons were made quite eloquently here, I felt.

Hassled · 02/10/2008 18:36

Actually you have 2 bs. I mean b (ii), Amis.

Doobydoo · 02/10/2008 18:39

WHY?Anyone but him.He is so smug eek.I file him along with Rod Liddle.

Cadelaide · 03/10/2008 13:16

D'you think he'll still come?

Liffey · 03/10/2008 19:58

Has anybody actually got a question??!

Maybe we could ask Tony Parsons to change his name to TOny Parsons-Burchill, because that would really help me to tell him apart from Nick Hornby.

Mousie · 03/10/2008 21:18

why don't you get jenni murray. someone with balls.
tony parsons is smug and has a very subservient wife. not keen.

Mousie · 04/10/2008 09:43

totally uncalled for, the subservient bit. what was I thinking (drinking). sorry.

CaptainJaneway · 04/10/2008 16:43

I can't think what anyone would want to ask Tony Parsons tbh. What was Julie Birchill like to be married to? Erm, that's the only interesting thing about him I can think of: that he was once married to Burchill.

Saturn74 · 04/10/2008 17:02

Who is your favourite Viz character?
