Columnist and author Tony Parsons will be joining us here on Monday 6th October from 9-10pm for a live chat. Tony's sixth novel, 'My Favourite Wife' has just been published and is described by The Independent as 'a much bigger, more ambitious book' than million-selling 'Man and Boy'. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

If Jennifer Lopez is J.Lo, Lindsay Lohan is LiLo and Boris Johnson is BoJo, would you prefer to be T.Pa or ToPa?

Tutter · 06/10/2008 21:46

tony

have you ever met tony hawks, tony hawk, or dave gorman?

thanks
tutter

themildmannneredjanitor · 06/10/2008 21:46

i have read slam-i must say i think nick hornby has gone downhill since about a boy.
'how to be good' was a bit rubbish really and slam was a bit..trivial

Dear Monkey - of course you are right - that 445,000 figure WILL include some women who had reconstructive surgery after breast cancer - my mother in law died of breast cancer 4 years ago so I know something about that. But the overwhelming majority are not for cancer patients...and re feminism, I like Germaine Greer's thesis that it was not about equality but about liberatiomn - not about being free to be men, but free to be yourself. So that is my take on it for what is it worth (3 Euros). Thanks for letting me in on the debate - Tony xxxooo

TonyParsons I don't care for the word chav - is it a word you would use? If yes, can you please define a chav. If no, can you please explain why?

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 06/10/2008 21:47

S1ur · 06/10/2008 21:47

WendyWeber · 06/10/2008 21:47

Oh I'm glad someone has, MP ! There were some lovely funny NH bits in it, but it was silly. So I was disappointed. (About a Boy is one of my most favourite books ever ))

champagnesupernova · 06/10/2008 21:48

I thought you were Nick Hornby
Sorry.

morningpaper · 06/10/2008 21:48

Will you be my friend on Facebook?

DonDons · 06/10/2008 21:48

Tony - have you ever parked in a P&C space when you have been sans child?

DoubleBluff · 06/10/2008 21:48

I asked about FB firsst MP!

TheCelestialTeapot · 06/10/2008 21:49

Will you be dropping in to post on Mumsnet in future?

Beetroot · 06/10/2008 21:49

Well

My mate owned a record shop in Upper Street.

NH used to go in there

Loads of people would say to my mate oh have you read High Fidelity - (about a guy who owns a music shop}

My mate, who has become good mates with NH says to Nh

If I had a pound every time I was asked if I had read High Fidelity I would be as rich as you are

NH replies - No you wouldn't!

cremolafoam · 06/10/2008 21:49

Tony you have 6 minutes to answer my question about Boris. Then I have to put the recycling out.

Cloudhopper · 06/10/2008 21:49

Another loo break?????

XXXXXOooooooOXXXXX

S1ur · 06/10/2008 21:49

Do you have any obsessive traditions when writing?

TonyParsons · 06/10/2008 21:49

Dear Tutter - no, i did not meet any olf those people. I DID meet the great Presley though, one night in the Nashville in Camden Town...he shook my hand and sxaid, "Presley - Reg Presley." I was always a big fan of the Troggs.
Dave Gorman - was that the Depeeche mode guy who was very clean cut one year and then covered in tattoos the next? We went to school in the same town in Essex - Basildon. Happy days. Thanks for clearing that up!! Tony xxxooo

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 06/10/2008 21:49

I don't think I've read any Nick Hornby except about a boy (and his autism stuff like the intro to Charlotte Moore). I've read more Tony Parsons! But I still want Beety to spill.

bran · 06/10/2008 21:49

Tony, are you going to write an article about your experience on here, or perhaps even put us into a book? Or will you just wake up tomorrow and think you had some sort of surreal nightmare and forget us?

tyres · 06/10/2008 21:49

That Nick Hornby book about suicide was dreadful iirc...

noonki · 06/10/2008 21:49

Tony - Has having a girl stopped you being as Misogynistic, I seem to remember you used to be in the Guardian columns? Do you think it will change your writing. My Dad is friends with Ian McEwan and he completely changed writing style after children.

DoubleBluff · 06/10/2008 21:50

I loved MAn and Boy, the bit where the son rides his bike in to the empty pool make me cry everytime.

TheCelestialTeapot · 06/10/2008 21:50

How did you begin writing? (And not "With a capital letter")

Did you know it was what you wanted to do forever, but you worked in some dull as fuck jobs first?
