MNHQ here: got a question for the Prime Minister?

RhiannonEMumsnet · 29/05/2022 12:03

Hi all,

We’re pleased to tell you that next week Justine will be sitting down with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask him Mumsnet users’ questions.

If you have a question you'd like answering, you can post it below. Please stick to the usual guidelines - one question per user, keep it civil, and if one topic is dominating, please don't continue to post what's effectively the same question or point. We'll be limited for time so do keep questions as short as possible so that we’re able to ask more of them - as always, we'll try to make sure we cover the topics that we know are important to Mumsnet users.

We'll be closing this thread at noon on Monday, so please do get your questions in before that - and watch this space to hear how the Prime Minister responds.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Mental health services for children and young people are woefully underfunded. My dd was unable to go to school for a year and nobody was there to help us, leading to me having to give up my job and having a nervous breakdown myself.

When will the government put more money into mental health services?

We are at almost two years of non attendance at school. Did have an appointment at CAMHS finally this month - which was cancelled an hour beforehand. 🙄

Why can't you comb your hair?

😂 😂 😂

This is my favourite.

SpindleSheWrote · 30/05/2022 00:08

If you had a Tracey Emin tent, whose names would be within?

RippleQueen · 30/05/2022 00:11

Can I have 10oz of red meat please

PickySlackTastic · 30/05/2022 00:16

We need a biscuit question! Boris: do you ever have moments when you wonder whether you may cause more harm than good? If so, what is your biscuit of choice in these moments?

I posted a question right at the start, about 10 posts down. It’s been deleted entirely, no trace of it not even breaking talk guidelines!

Me too @ShirleyPhallus, though to be fair I posted it before I saw the one question only rule and had already asked him if he did indeed refer to himself as "the fucking Fuhrer". I just also wanted to know if he thought it was appropriate for a UK Foreign Secretary to ditch his security detail to go to a sex party at the villa of the UK-newspaper-owning son of an ex-KGB officer.

ozymandiusking · 30/05/2022 01:07

Please will you ask the Foreign Office to speed up dealing with visas for the Ukranian refugees. There are people in this country waiting to take them have rooms ready etc, and they are just not arriving. Just get on with it!

Nancydrawn · 30/05/2022 02:58

What, if anything, makes you feel shame?

My second post wasn’t even a question! It was just pointing out that there are basically no usable questions on here at all and MNHQ are going to have nothing to ask.

@RhiannonEMumsnet can you reinstate my original question please?

ThettaReddast · 30/05/2022 05:41

What’s the last lie you told?

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 30/05/2022 07:29

Did you access and amend the Sue Grey report before releasing it to the press?

In fairness secretgf no one will be surprised about that.

waltzingparrot · 30/05/2022 07:31

What's the plan to make a success of Brexit Britain?

Smudgepop · 30/05/2022 07:38

Can Boris have another look at the cost of living in our country and see how it’s impacting for the worst and what support he can provide us. Also Children at school should be getting free school meals at every age now.

Doubleraspberry · 30/05/2022 07:41

Many posters have already given examples of struggling people who are not receiving the right financial support from your government. Yet wealthy pensioners have just been handed a huge pay rise by your government. I know that means testing is not a free process, but how do you defend new payments to people who are not in need of them (my in-laws tell us every year they have used their Winter Fuel Payment for flights for one of their six holidays a year) when so many are struggling? I’d hate to think it’s just because you rely on the votes of rich people over 65.

BoJoSecretGF · 30/05/2022 07:57

Actually, this is my question:

what will be your reason for cancelling this Q&A session because you don’t like the questions?

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 30/05/2022 08:09

Ha- tried to be clever there… the question was “what’s your favourite John lennon song?”

themillington · 30/05/2022 08:28

When is it going to be possible for single working mums to be able to work more hours without it being taken away by HMRC or the local council? I work 18 hours and the minute I do even an hours overtime, I am penalised by housing benefit or tax credits. Life can be very hard brining up a teenager on your own

LukewarmCustard · 30/05/2022 09:17

What are you going to do about the very low rate of maternity pay? Do you think it is ok for families to go into debt to keep afloat during maternity leave?

passport123 · 30/05/2022 09:24

I realise this is great publicity for MN and Justine, but you didn't put any of the difficult questions to Rishi Sunak so I'm not sure why anyone thinks you will to BJ......

Br0wnMummy · 30/05/2022 09:26

Why are you destroying the country for future generations? Surely someone with so many kids must care a bit about the devastation you're causing for the country's children?

Why did he want to become the Prime Minister?

who’s lives does he seek to improve and why?

They wouldn’t appear if they got hard questions and would veto the whole thing. I strongly suspect the Prime Minister (or his minions) will screen it before being released.

boogiewithasuitcase · 30/05/2022 09:36

Why do you keep saying the answer is 'jobs, jobs, jobs' when a significant amount of people who are already in work are also struggling?

sunja · 30/05/2022 09:48

For those of us who work hard to try and ensure we can look after our own children with our money, why do they make it easier to essentially be on benefits? It shouldn't be a struggle to work and have children. It shouldn't be better off not going to work because nursery is EXTORTIONATE. Our childcare system is one of the most expensive in the world and it disincentivises people from having children as many struggle to afford it.

What will be done to make childcare more affordable for everyday families? When will the overhaul of the childcare system come? When will the childcare sector be seen for what it is - an important and integral sector.

FatherBuzzCagney · 30/05/2022 09:57

Anyone else on here surprised that Tory HQ haven't been along to astroturf some nice questions yet? Maybe they really are as incompetent as they appear.
