Hi all,

We’re pleased to tell you that next week Justine will be sitting down with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask him Mumsnet users’ questions.

If you have a question you'd like answering, you can post it below. Please stick to the usual guidelines - one question per user, keep it civil, and if one topic is dominating, please don't continue to post what's effectively the same question or point. We'll be limited for time so do keep questions as short as possible so that we’re able to ask more of them - as always, we'll try to make sure we cover the topics that we know are important to Mumsnet users.

We'll be closing this thread at noon on Monday, so please do get your questions in before that - and watch this space to hear how the Prime Minister responds.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Will the Govt remove VAT on fuel? VAT was originally intended for luxuries. .

Given that the Conservatives have historically been the party of low taxation, are you worried about alienating your traditional Conservative voters with the increases in personal and corporate taxation over the last two years?

What plans are there to sort out the nhs dental crisis? In Cornwall, and I'm sure nationally, the situation is unbelievable. I spent 8 years on the waiting list. And when we did manage to find one (I checked every week online - was never allocated one) we had one treatment before covid. After that they shut down.

My 12 year old has only seen a dentist once. No private practices will take my children unless I'm also registered. I cannot afford private fees for me, and I need a lot of work doing so a payment plan is also not an option. My teeth are beginning to fall out (genetic gum problems) and I'm in a lot of pain - not bad enough for an emergency appointment however - as the situation here is so bad they have to prioritise those with infection.

Dental health is so important. It can impact on overall physical health, mental well being. I don't expect to receive free treatment, but I strongly feel there is the need for an affordable option for low income families.

What's your favourite thing to have for breakfast?

If only it was humble pie...

PepeLePew · 29/05/2022 18:19

Really, where to start?
That is not my question.

How about...

In the face of a cost of living increase that will see many people have to choose between either eating or heating, why has your government opted to give second homes the energy discount, and is this a good use of public money?

What's your favourite thing to have for breakfast?

What’s the betting that’s the only question he will answer.

Which was your favourite extra-marital affair?

Who applies the rosin to the bow?

doadeer · 29/05/2022 18:52

Hi Primeminister,

Do you think you played a key role in thousands of unnecessary deaths during covid?

Thank you!!

Wolstencroft · 29/05/2022 18:56

As a teacher, I would lose my job if I broke the law- why doesn’t the same apply to the Prime Minister ?

ladymalfoy45 · 29/05/2022 18:59

Malcolm Tucker would fuck you up!
let's have Q&A with Armando Iannucci instead.

Happygirl79 · 29/05/2022 19:03

Why are you referred to as 'the right honourable' when you don't have a shred of honour in you?

RichardOsborne · 29/05/2022 19:12

Dear Boris Johnson,

Do you expect to continue humanitarian aid to the Ukraine?

Thanks,

Richard Osborne

Laurawebster · 29/05/2022 19:14

Prime minister, do you plan to do anything about disproportionately high childcare costs?

It costs working families upwards of £50 a day to send a child under 3 to nursery.

I had to take the decision as a teacher to return part-time after my second child, as childcare costs were going to take over 60% of my monthly earnings.

Having to pay such a large proportion of your income on childcare, just so you can continue to work, is totally unethical, and hits low-to-middle income families like ours incredibly hard.

Goldenphoenix · 29/05/2022 19:18

Why have you allowed so many green areas be built over since being in power? Do you not value the countryside at all?

And secondly, when will you resign? Have you no shame at all?

holdingonfordearlife · 29/05/2022 19:37

Do you think actions have consequences?

How will sacking 91000 civil servants help sort the enormous backlogs in e.g. passport and driving licence applications. Why is the civil service being blamed for poor political leadership?

+1

Why are many SEND children being off rolled and what does my 18 son who is very bright do an not course at college will let him join due to no GCSEs even though he could have done these with the right support.

That's a really good question - I hope it will be chosen to be answered. We had a very similar situation with my eldest.

LittleMissLego · 29/05/2022 19:52

I'd love to know your thoughts on foodbanks. Why has demand for emergency food parcels risen so significantly over the last decade, what is the root cause of this rise? And over the next 5 years do you forsee our society's need for foodbanks rising, remaining static or dropping?

(yes, this is exactly the same question that was put to Rishi Sunak, I wasn't very impressed with his answer)

whoahokeycokey · 29/05/2022 19:57

How can I teach my children to respect authority, abide by laws and be respectful when the leader of our country who made the rules has no regard for them whatsoever?

holdingonfordearlife · 29/05/2022 19:58

What's the point in saying sorry when you don't demonstrate the sentiment?

Wouldn’t now be a good time to decriminalise or legalise cannabis?

Will you add back the references to honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability to the ministerial code?

Why should ministers be any less accountable than the civil servants who carry out their orders?

I would love an answer to this too. How can we trust the honesty of our ministers and our prime minister, when you set the rules governing your own conduct? Should the ministerial code not be fully independent of governmental influence - as Primus Inter Pares, you should not be making your own rules.

PenOrPencil · 29/05/2022 20:11

Mental health services for children and young people are woefully underfunded. My dd was unable to go to school for a year and nobody was there to help us, leading to me having to give up my job and having a nervous breakdown myself.

When will the government put more money into mental health services?
