MNHQ here: got a question for the Prime Minister?

RhiannonEMumsnet · 29/05/2022 12:03

Hi all,

We’re pleased to tell you that next week Justine will be sitting down with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask him Mumsnet users’ questions.

If you have a question you'd like answering, you can post it below. Please stick to the usual guidelines - one question per user, keep it civil, and if one topic is dominating, please don't continue to post what's effectively the same question or point. We'll be limited for time so do keep questions as short as possible so that we’re able to ask more of them - as always, we'll try to make sure we cover the topics that we know are important to Mumsnet users.

We'll be closing this thread at noon on Monday, so please do get your questions in before that - and watch this space to hear how the Prime Minister responds.

Thanks,
MNHQ

I posted a question right at the start, about 10 posts down. It’s been deleted entirely, no trace of it not even breaking talk guidelines!

stillcoolhonest · 29/05/2022 20:29

How do you sleep at night with all the terrible things you've done?

SlatsandFlaps · 29/05/2022 20:38

What, if any, changes are going to be made to the current Disability assessment system?

When you are severely disabled on a long term basis and unable to work, you have to have two identical (& highly stressful) 'Work Capability' Assessments (even though PIP is not based on your capability to work & is non-means tested).
Also, when joining/migrating over to Universal Credit as a disabled person, it takes MONTHS for the Assessment process to complete and for the Disability element to be added (LCWRA). In the meantime until this is added, regardless of your health, you have to visit the Job Centre frequently and see a 'Work Coach' despite the fact that you're unable to work. Fine for many of us, but even paraplegic or bed ridden claimants are forced to do this. If they don't, their income is stopped! This is insane. How much longer can this go on for?

Thank you

Criceta · 29/05/2022 20:50

Why don’t you resign? You’re an embarrassment to your party and your country. I hope you enjoyed your parties while my lovely grandma died alone in a nursing home.

VanillaSugar2022 · 29/05/2022 21:14

You know we know you lie. So why do you still lie?

username35742147 · 29/05/2022 21:14

The cost of childcare in UK I believe is the 2nd highest in Europe. There is a lot of evidence to show that subsidising childcare so that is it actually affordable would lead a lot more women working/ working more hours. The extra tax/NI paid would actually benefit the economy overall aswell as improve the gender pay gap. The government still does not see this as a priority please can you explain why?

ThatIsNachoCheese · 29/05/2022 21:18

Why have local Government workers, NHS, teachers and police had a huge relative pay cut over the last 12 years and when are you going to agree to give us an actual appropriate pay rise, or do we not deserve one?

CraftyWoman · 29/05/2022 21:21

If only the glorious NormaStanleyFletcher was still here to heckle this awful man again.

No questions for him, I am unable to remain civil toward him, he is a man without integrity.

PerkingFaintly · 29/05/2022 21:26

So this exercise is what?

Fishing for some more populist bits of window-dressing to play the hero with? Like the brain-dead headlines about Imperial measures?

Obviously the Exchequer won't actually splash out on childcare or disability benefits, or do anything to make the disability benefits system less inhumane. But at least you'll garner a few issues to deliver feel-good soundbites about.

Suja1 · 29/05/2022 21:27

Why do you think you are above the law and can treat the rest of the county with such contempt?

DonVanVliet · 29/05/2022 21:28

No point asking a proven liar any questions

Purple52 · 29/05/2022 21:35

Boris, do you think we are surprised by “party gate”? given that covid seemed to be transmitting faster in No 10 than anywhere else in the country?!
…. if you had WFH and social distanced properly it would have been a very different story!!
what makes No 10 so special that the rest of your staff cant WFH? … the rest of the country managed! … including by some miracle, HMRC! (Sort of!)
And “government” and “confidentiality” are not a reason not to WFH … the rest of us had to!

Mamofoneboy · 29/05/2022 21:52

Why is childcare so unaffordable? Particularly for under 2s? Maternity pay only lasts until a child is 9 months so I have to go back to work but will be working for pennies after childcare costs.

Solonge · 29/05/2022 21:59

Why did you amended the rules to make clear that ministers will not always be expected to resign for breaching the ministerial code of conduct. Under new sanctions, they can just apologise or temporarily lose their pay instead.

You also blocked your independent ethics chief, Christopher Geidt, from gaining the power to launch his own investigations, and then rewrote the foreword to the ministerial code, removing all references to honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability.

CliffordDanger · 29/05/2022 22:03

Why are childcare and residential elder care nothing more than money-making industries, run to generate maximum profit instead of paying decent wages and delivering excellent standards of care? Our small children and our elderly are surely two of the most vulnerable groups in society, so don't they deserve better? And the people providing the care, the ones on the ground, they surely deserve better?

Do you think that one reason basics such as the above aren't on politicians' radar is because you've never had to worry a day in your life about bills, care costs, childcare arrangements, etc?

OversBo · 29/05/2022 17:33

Do you work for the Russians?

👏

SJW26 · 29/05/2022 22:38

How are you able to support plans for people escaping war, seeking asylum or refuge in our country, including children and pregnant women (who have yet to be exempt), being sent to Rwanda first, for goodness know how long?

iex · 29/05/2022 22:40

Why should mps have second homes paid for by the UK tax payers?

Surely they can stay on hotels?

Secondly, can you raise minimum wage and get people working full time be paid enough so they can live without benefits. Why are we subsidising the likes of Tesco etc

SJW26 · 29/05/2022 22:43

What do you say to all the mums calling for your resignation because while they had to give birth alone, you and members of your team thought it was ok to attend work drinks?

Reigateforever · 29/05/2022 22:55

Open free chèches for all babies from the age of 6 months for all mothers who have work until school age and also have child free care for all children during the school holidays for all working mothers. This will help more women to join the work force earlier and in turn create new jobs which in turn make a rich economy with more taxes being paid.
Most mothers need to work for todays needs and have a decent pension for their retirement.

Reigateforever · 29/05/2022 23:09

Free Chèches open from 8.30 to 6.30

ancientgran · 29/05/2022 23:16

Why can't you comb your hair?

Volterra · 29/05/2022 23:29

Why were there questions in the WJEC A level physics paper last Thursday that weren’t on the list of topics that should be revised? Fortunately my DS doesn’t trust anything Government related as he thinks you are all liars for some reason so revised them anyway but some of his less cynical classmates got caught out.

Antarcticant · 29/05/2022 23:31

ancientgran · 29/05/2022 23:16

Why can't you comb your hair?

😂

PickySlackTastic · 29/05/2022 23:42

Which of these two are you most proud of?

The continent (Africa) may be a blot, but it is not a blot upon our conscience. The problem is not that we were once in charge, but that we are not in charge any more.

Or

(response to BLM, you want to) “stop the sense of victimisation and discrimination”
