Zoomchat with Helen Joyce on her new book

Hello

We’re delighted to announce a Mumsnet Zoomchat with senior staff journalist at The Economist Helen Joyce about her new book 'Trans'.

To quote the book jacket: "Gender identity ideology is about more than Twitter storms and using the right pronouns. In just ten years, laws, company policies, school and university curricula, sport, medical protocols, and the media have been reshaped to privilege self-declared gender identity over biological sex."

"People are being shamed and silenced for attempting to understand the consequences of redefining ‘man’ and ‘woman’. While compassion for transgender lives is well-intentioned, it is stifling much-needed inquiry into the significance of our bodies, particularly with regard to women’s rights, fairness in sport, same sex attraction and children’s development."

Helen will be chatting with Mumsnet HQ and answering your questions on Tuesday 27 July at 8pm, and you can book your place now by registering here.

Please note We can only take questions from Zoomchat attendees on the night - please don’t ask questions in advance as we can’t promise we’ll be able to put them forwards.

Thanks
MNHQ

I went to another event with Helen Joyce this evening, she is incredible, makes you feel smarter just listening. I strongly advise you to sign up.

@JuliaMumsnet will MNHQ also be answering questions on the evening?

Thank you for arranging this and thank you to Helen Joyce Flowers

I haven't signed up because places are limited and I don't have a question.

It would be great if this was available to watch afterwards but if that's not possible, HJ has done in-depth interviews with Susanna Rustin for WPUK:
