Isn't is a fine line between dressing fashionably/ looking like mutton dressed as lamb... how do women over 40 manage to stay on the right side??

Isn't fashion just for thin people really?

What are the key 'capsule componenets' for a woman who works in a mostly 'business casual' environment, but wants to have her seniority acknowledged and respected?

Pollyanna · 06/07/2006 07:29

What should the staples of a SAHM's wardrobe be, if the sahm has very young children, goes to the park regularly, walks everywhere pushing a pushchair and still wants to look good on the school run?

Gingerbear · 06/07/2006 08:06

How can I stop looking like a beached whale on a sunbed? I am size 16 with a big bum and tummy. I would love to wear anything except my black swimming baths swimsuit.

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 08:41

bleach blonde highlights - yes or no?

fullmoonfiend · 06/07/2006 09:17

I'm 36, skinny, look a bit younger, feel much younger. I'm a bit scruffy and lean towards quirky things. What I can I wear without looking muttony or sad?

CP · 06/07/2006 09:42

I would love to wear all the lasest trends but lets face it they don't always mix well with small children. What is the best way to look stylish without sacrificing practicality on the way?

LadyTamba · 06/07/2006 10:04

Does magic underwear exsist that will take you back to pre-baby shape? Or alternativitly, best tricks for hiding the middle bit!

pebblemum · 06/07/2006 11:32

I have a wedding to go to in august and want to find a dress that will work miracles. Im a size 16 with a bit of a tummy but want to look as slim as possible also im only 28 and 5ft 2in so i need a style that wont make me look too old or short and dumpy or show off too many rolls (dresses that flare from the bust just make me look pregnant so they are a definate no) Have you any ideas? We have just returned from holiday so i only have about £50 to spend. I have ordered a cullotte dress from littlewoods but it is black and i am unsure if i should wear black to a wedding even if i do team it with red accessories and shoes.

Ive only got 4wks to find the perfect outfit and i am starting to get desperate. Can you help?

jampots · 06/07/2006 11:35

Where can I buy tops in the summer that dont show a huge expanse of shoulder flesh?

Also what style skirt would suit me best: Im 5'3, baggy tummy, huge arse etc but can deal with that. I need to hide/disguise my tummy desperately

mazzystar · 06/07/2006 13:40

What style of winter coat would you suggest for someone who is very pregnant?

Also please answer cappucino's question and save us all a bomb.

smoggie · 06/07/2006 14:00

Wardrobe staples for a new stay at home mum of a 3yo and 18mo. Cannot easily go high street shopping with the 'darlings', get too overawed by internet shopping - just too much to choose from. I need practcal, stylish, cheap/mod priced things that I won't have to change every year. 5ft 10, size 12 no norks! Please don't let me slide into the oblivion of jeans+fleece. Ta

mousie · 06/07/2006 14:34

oh and handbags. is there a short cut to spending 600 quid at mulberry, which sadly i haven't got.

Astrophe · 06/07/2006 15:36

I'm tall and have a serious Mummy Tummy (someone used the term 'ruined knitting' on a thread not so long ago...), so where can I buy tops that cover my flab? I mean really cover, even after they've been washed and shrunk a bit. I have some from top shop...where else?

Also, big arms and sleeveless/string strap tops...I think its a no-no, but what are the summer alternatives?

Xavielli · 06/07/2006 16:06

Whats the best colour to wear so that baby puke doesnt show up too much??

AngelaButtolph · 06/07/2006 18:08

Hello! Very much looking forward to chatting later! Catch you at 9pm tonight!

MrsJohnCusack · 06/07/2006 18:09

oh I'm going to miss it

phillip · 06/07/2006 18:09

hi there

would like a new winter coat - nothing too heavy as I travel a lot on commuter trains. I am a pear shape so avoid belted coats. Articles in magazines always say go for something with "interest" around the neck like a jazzy collar, to balance you out. But I think they're horrid. Help!

carriemumsnet · 06/07/2006 20:58

Hi all - a reminder that Angela will be here in 5 minutes to give some answers to these queries, but hopefully there'll be time for lots more so do keep your questions coming!!

See you in five minutes
