Hi everyone,

We're delighted that Dawn French will be joining us for a webchat about her new novel, Oh Dear Silvia, on Wednesday 24 October from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. You can see Dawn talking about the book in .

Dawn will be launching Oh Dear Silvia, which is published by Michael Joseph, at an exclusive event at The Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly, on Friday 26 October, where she will be interviewed by Sue Perkins. Tickets cost £15 and include a signed copy of the book. You can buy tickets here or on 0844 847 1778 and very excitingly, we have a pair of tickets to give away.

Anyone who posts a question on this thread for Dawn (either during the live webchat itself or in advance) will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the event, so do join Dawn for a chat on Wednesday or post a question for her in advance here.

Thanks

MNHQ

It isn't a polite topic for a Wednesday lunchtime Dawn. Sad It will put me off my crackers....

NotShortImFunSized · 24/10/2012 14:24

D'oh I'm such a pleb. I meant A Tiny Bit Marvellous in my first post Blush Ended up with 2 copies after last web chat as I bought myself a copy and dp came home with one the same day for me!

DawnFrench · 24/10/2012 14:24

@DianeEGS

what did you find the most intriguing about silvias life? and were you researching by hanging in hospital wards for 18 months evesdropping?

Spent a little bit of time in intensive care at Ealing Hospital with the coma doctors there since Silvia is in a coma. Fascinating. Most intriguing thing about Silvia's life? The massive secret she's keeping.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 24/10/2012 14:24

Did you need to do any research on people in a coma?

Where did you get your inspiration from?

Hotcoffeeisamemory · 24/10/2012 14:24

I'm so glad it's in the kindle. This is because I have banned my partner from getting any more books as we've run out if space. Now he has no idea about the amount if books I buy regularly! Grin

@Campari

Hello Dawn!

I would like to know if you've ever been asked to go on Desert Island Discs, because I think a lot of people would be interested to hear your song choices and luxury book/item. Would you like to do it?

Thankyou Smile

Weird you should ask, I'm doing it this Thursday ( not sure when its transmitted) it was agony to choose the 8 songs, and I can't believe songs I've had to leave out. But I finally decided to have a significant song from each part of my life, rather than just my favourite music. I have avoided doing the show all these years because I think it might be quite emotional.
PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 24/10/2012 14:28

I don't know Jen, where are you?! [hgrin]

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2012 14:28

Good god no. Not Centreparcs Norks.

DawnFrench · 24/10/2012 14:28

@LineRunner

Dawn, You break yourself in gently with the Drunk Thread, and then open yourself up gradually to the world of 'Centre Parcs'.

Starting to get the picture. And I like it!

Just wanted to challenge myself to write a central character who can't speak. It's bloody hard, I found out!
