Hi everyone,

We're delighted that Dawn French will be joining us for a webchat about her new novel, Oh Dear Silvia, on Wednesday 24 October from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. You can see Dawn talking about the book in .

Dawn will be launching Oh Dear Silvia, which is published by Michael Joseph, at an exclusive event at The Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly, on Friday 26 October, where she will be interviewed by Sue Perkins. Tickets cost £15 and include a signed copy of the book. You can buy tickets here or on 0844 847 1778 and very excitingly, we have a pair of tickets to give away.

Anyone who posts a question on this thread for Dawn (either during the live webchat itself or in advance) will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the event, so do join Dawn for a chat on Wednesday or post a question for her in advance here.

Thanks

MNHQ

Dawn, you're my girly crush Blush. Do you know Kate Silverton and do you both get up to Yorkshire much?
On another note; Do you ever ever regret being famous? Even with the perks it brings? Divorcing in the public eye must have been bloody horrible, however you both felt about the whole situation.

Dear Dawn,

Hello. My DD adores you, and she has written to you three times in the past year. Could you please give her a wave and let her know how she might obtain one of your gorgeous photographs?

And what lisaro said - do you ever regret being famous?

Thanks for doing MN. x

Hi Dawn, I remember watching the last webchat you did with us; thanks for coming back! I've been laughing at your antics all my life it feels like and I always feel very warmly towards you because you remind me of my mum!

My question is this: do you have any big secrets that might emerge if you ended up, like your character Sylvie, in a coma? You can tell us, we won't say a word Wink

Hi Dawn
In Dear Fatty you mentioned the time you were at your daughter's school for sport, and the commentator mentioned that you were there, and you got a tincy bit annoyed with him.

My question is please stop me getting subconcious - other parents that I don't know at school events once I've covered who's your child, I ask about line of work, I find this difficult to do with wellknown parents, I feel like I know them (which of course I don't) and they don't know me, what is acceptable small talk on the side of the pitch, whilst ignoring the big elephant?

Welcome back to the vipers' nest! You obviously don't think we're that bad then!

I would love to see you and Sue Perkins together. Two of my favourite women.

Unfortunately I can't think of a question, so probably unlikely to win tickets ... Hmm

Hi Dawn

I absolutely loved your book A Tiny Bit Marvellous and could really identify with the characters.

However, the Epilogue really worried me! I just didn't believe that Mo would drive a car blindfolded. Maybe it's just me that would be worrying about knocking someone down or crashing into another car...

Dawn- you look always look gorgeous & even more so recently with those lovely cheek bones to die for!

I love that phrase you tell of your father telling you any guy that danced with you would be the luckiest guy alive (or summat) as you were/are so gorgeous. (sorry if quoted wrong)

I use it on my 2 teenage DD's, what other little gems have you shared with your daughter to boost her self esteem? Grin

Hi Dawn, I think you're fab!

My question, you did a lot of spoofs with Jennifer, what was your favourite one?

Oh yes. A question popped into my head.

Of all the characters you have played, either in short sketches or in longer programmes, which has been your favourite? Which would you reprise if you had the opportunity?

Hi Dawn, I once bought some Wassail cider because the nice lady who works in the Lostwithiel deli told me you thought it was lovely.

In fairness, it is indeed delicious, but was it true? (and if it is, maybe it answers Dollydowser's question!)

Hello Ms French (formal)
Thank you for making me laugh for years and years and years.

Please tell me if your daughter thinks you are funny, or does she just roll her eyes at you? Does she REALISE that her mother is so well loved.

Dear Dawn,

I spent a considerable time yesterday night catching up with Downtown Abbey. As I watched I couldn't help but cast you in nearly every single part.
So I wondered, if you could choose one character in Downtown Abbey to play, which one would it be?

I also would like to thank you for the valuable critical service you had performed over the years pointing out what a load of sentimental twaddle these dramas really are. It has added to my enjoyment no end.

Oh gawd Dawn we all think you're fab.......is it a bit embarrassing, all this adulation. We sound like a load of women having a crush on you like we did when we were kids, on older girls.

Can you understand this and do you feel like that about anyone? and

How does it feel to be recognised by everyone - do you smile at people who stare or ask If you are DF or do you get pissed off sometimes?

Joanne Lumley gave me a lovely smile at the Cat Show!!

Hi Dawn,
Although great together, you and Jennifer have had your individual successes. Have you ever watched Jennifer in a part and wished it was you who had played it instead?

Go on, you can tell us Wink
