Questions for David Cameron

We know what he thinks about education, the economy and Europe, but what about the really important stuff? Like how many nappies, exactly, has he changed in the last two weeks? And does young Arthur favour a three-in-one travel system, or a rugged off-roader? You can find out the answers to these and other pressing questions (and tell him what you think of all that tummy-patting) next Monday lunchtime when David Cameron visits Mumsnet to give his first interview since the birth of his third child. David will be online from 12.45pm. You can post advance questions for him here.

should all parents be forced to hand over their babies to full time nursery care and go back to full time work ASAP? That's not the kind of society I want to live in. Why is the mother's [or father's]role of child rearing denigrated so much? None of us know what impact full time nursery care will have on future generations. But it is clear that the present system is having a profound effect on the birth rate which will impact in turn on the economy. David, couldn't you be a bit more far sighted in the way families are treated? At the moment, more and more people are choosing not to have children because it is so incredibly difficult financially to do so. Someone is going to have to address this problem some time, like it or not.

Hi,
The ten messages are the number that are waiting. The thread is moderated, and because the online ting hasn't started yet they haven't been approved.

Love,
Tech

DumbledoresGirl · 27/02/2006 12:19

I tried posting on that thread and it said my question had gone into a queue.

Bit embarrassing really as I only asked why can't I see the posts on this thread?

hardly deep political questioning!

cod · 27/02/2006 12:19

yes i posted an unsult to oyu lot
oops

zippitippitoes · 27/02/2006 12:20

it's because they are not putting all those messages directly to him it is a moderated thread

Caligula · 27/02/2006 12:20

Me too DG. Bet 8 of those questions are "what's with this thread?"

GDG · 27/02/2006 12:20

thanks tech!

hehehe - just saw you posted cod!

Caligula · 27/02/2006 12:21

Thought you were going to ask him if he'd ever changed queues in a supermarket...

bambalini · 27/02/2006 12:23

What is your party doing to assist mother's returning to work after pregnacy? There should be subsidised Childcare paid by the employer/government? Are there any proposals for this.

Secondly, what is your party doing to rectify the gender pay gap?

PeachyClair · 27/02/2006 12:25

I'd like to know what they plan to do about the waiting list system. DS1 had been issued three appointments for his Paediatric assessment, they were repeatedly cancelled (holidays, maternity leave etc) and when we phoned up they admitted they were issuing appointments for clinics they knew would never happen because the Consultantbwas leaving. Given that that results in them maintaining their waiting lists within acceptable limits, yet it took DS1 10 months to be assessed for ASD, I think that's a terrible falsification of reality.

zippitippitoes · 27/02/2006 12:27

Party bags, yes or no?

CountessDracula · 27/02/2006 12:28

Have you considered revising the totally toothless Flexible Working "right to request" legislation? Currently if an employer doesn't want to grant the request all they have to do is say that it will adversely affect their business and they are off the hook.

ruty · 27/02/2006 12:33

when's the live chat start?

flashingnosethefrond · 27/02/2006 12:37

Do you have any plans to stop the UK morphing into one giant Tescos?

uwila · 27/02/2006 12:39

I like Tescos. It enables me to feed my family for less. And I can shop on Sunday night.

KELLEEN · 27/02/2006 12:40

Mr. Cameron-

What will you do to give families tax incentives to stay together?

At the moment people who live apart get higher tax free allowances detering families from staying together when they otherwise would.

flashingnosethefrond · 27/02/2006 12:41

Ah but once they've squished all the competition, do you think they'll be charging low prices then??

scangelina · 27/02/2006 12:41

Hi, it seems that the Labour government is doing everthing it can to push mothers/fathers back to work after having children (money towards childcare etc). I would like to see some positive encouragement for the parents who actually want to stay home and look after their own children. What is the Conservative stance on this?

GDG · 27/02/2006 12:42

lol@ party bags!!!

WideWebWitch · 27/02/2006 12:45

When's this starting?

uwila · 27/02/2006 12:45

So then, what we need is two or three Tescos. I'm all for competition.

meowmix · 27/02/2006 12:46

looks like its started - a couple of VISIBLE posts there now

GDG · 27/02/2006 12:48

Now why didn't we think to pinch the chatname DavidCameron before?! Surprised Cod didn't think of it Grin

Hulababy · 27/02/2006 12:49

LIZS · 27/02/2006 12:49
