It's not often we get Hollywood glamour gracing Mumsnet Towers but we're rolling the red carpet out on Monday lunchtime, 5 March, when we're joined by Goldie Hawn.

Her legendary Hollywood roles include Private Benjamin, The First Wives Club and Death Becomes Her. Her performance in the 1969 film, Cactus Flower, won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Goldie is visiting the UK to promote her book, 10 Mindful Minutes, and the launch of The Hawn Foundation in the UK.

The foundation has developed the MindUP programme to help children reach their full potential and aims to teach children how their minds work and how their thoughts and feelings affect their behaviour. The programme has been implemented in schools in the United States, Canada, Australia and, more recently, the UK.

Chat to Goldie live from 1-2pm on Monday 5 March, or post your question in advance here.

Thanks

Oh I love Salad cream, it really is the dogs on an egg sandwich

SophieNeveu · 05/03/2012 13:54

Have MNHQ got you some F&M tea in, with loose leaves, to go with you sandwich?

VikingVagine · 05/03/2012 13:54

A good mayonnaise and some freshly ground black pepper for me.

I started reading this threading looking for things to be cynical about. So far I haven't found anything. And I've googled and everything.

It sounds to me like a well researched, properly thought through effort to improve childrens' mental health. Thanks Goldie.

Excuse me while I pop off to Amazon to buy the book..

@MmeLindor

Hello, and welcome to MN.

I just googled "Goldie Hawn" and came across website after website with pictures and details from your life.

Is it possible to be truly happy when you have the world press constantly following you around and taking photos even of private moments of your life?

And how do you cope knowing that anyone you come into contact with can traipse off to the press with their story, which they can then twist and embellish as they wish?

Frankly I've been doing this for so long, that press is a part of the fabric of my life. However, over the last years they have become increasingly invasive, negative and heartless. I feel badly for younger generations coming up having to cope with these things. On the subject of happiness, certainly people I know from the press could never steal that from me.

VikingVagine · 05/03/2012 13:56

And before MNHQ say anything about derailing the thread, she started it.

instantkarma · 05/03/2012 13:56

I am merely asking someone who is championing children's rights to a stress-free happy life her views on equal parenting rights. That is all.

kirriemummy · 05/03/2012 13:57

oooh I love salad cream. Possibly more than chocolate chip cookies......

No. I love chocolate chip cookies more, but it was a hard choice.

When I fulfil my ambition of becoming a famous and well respected actress, possibly in the running for best supporting actress at next year's oscars (best get my finger out and find a film to act in) and Goldie and I meet at some very cool Actressy type do, I will say," ooh Goldie, you'll remember me, I'm the one who likes salad cream"..... and then I will be embarrassed and possibly loose the Oscar to some starlet who didn't make her sauce choices widely known.

But I will still like salad cream.

GoldieHawn · 05/03/2012 13:57

@DaftMaul

If either of my children's schools start your programme, will you be abe to visit to help them implement it? Grin Wink

Seriously though, I have not had a chance to look at your programme online yet but it does sound as though it could help my ds with self esteem issues.

Are there anythings that could be started at home rather than school?

Many thanks,

Absolutely, the home is a great place to start. In fact, when you read the book, it shows you how to apply all of these fun exercises for you and your family to do together. Remember the outcomes - we want our children to feel happier, feel more connected to you, to be more grateful, experience empathy for others, and learn how to find peace inside.

StewieGriffin How on earth is Goldie Hawn supposed to have enough knowledge of an obscure and utterly inept UK-based organisation to comment on them effectively?

Do you mean salad cream?Grin

noddyholder · 05/03/2012 13:59

Honeydragon · 05/03/2012 14:00

I have been sitting on my hands to stop myself from fawning but sod it. Goldie, you are fab, I really applaud what you are doing. My girls and I love to dance (Daddy too), do you want to come and throw some shapes with us? Grin

Honeydragon · 05/03/2012 14:04
Sad

byeeee!

BlingLoving · 05/03/2012 14:04

Amazon has sold out. Luckily I have a KIndle. Just bought the book.

I missed this earlier otherwise I would have joined in. I truly believe that we can, up to a point, choose to be happy. I believe in finding joy in small things and appreciating what we have. DH often says that even if what we have now is all we ever have, he will be happy because we have each other, and DS and a home and friends. And of course, DCat, aka "he-who-rules-our-house". I will read this book because all I want to do is teach DS to enjoy his life and not be overwhelmed by it.

Honeydragon · 05/03/2012 14:05

Sarnoff - Russian sandwich Vodka?

GoldieHawn · 05/03/2012 14:05

@noddyholder

How do you get your hair to look so bouncy and shiny when most women your age are sporting the brillo pad look?

Crazy as it sounds, I've never coloured my hair, and maybe that's why it's so bouncy, bouncy and fun!

SophieNeveu · 05/03/2012 14:06

Shock at sold out and non hair colouring !
