Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Hello Catherine

Lots of Good Wishes for the big day.

A lot of us will be remembering William's parents' wedding, and feeling rather sentimentally that yours makes the Happy Ending that their marriage didn't, in the end, have. Blush

What sort of mother in law do you think Diana would have been?

IntergalacticHussy · 26/04/2011 11:51

Hi Kate,

Are you hooked on Mumsnet now? Do you think you'll carry on lurking after the big day?

That's all really, I'm supposed to be a republican!

southeastastra · 26/04/2011 11:51

oh it's a spoof apparently

Hi There,

We are having a "Best Dressed Front Door" competition as part of our Village Street Party Celebrations.... Do you have any good decorating tips that would just give me the edge - not that I want to have a "Royal Seal" of approval or anything - I just want to win ....

Thank You

p.s. Good Luck...

Saltire · 26/04/2011 11:52

I think you should use your new princessness as a reason to become an ambassador for all us Forces Wives, and suspport us in our missison to get better married quarters.Grin

DS2 wants to know if he sends you a letter will you reply?. He sent one to Duchess of Cornwall and got a lovely reply from her

WideWebWitch · 26/04/2011 11:52

Kate, do you consider yourself a feminist?

MmeLindt · 26/04/2011 11:53

Gosh, well done MNHQ.

Catherine
Welcome to MN, and all the best for Friday.

I am currently in Germany so will be following the wedding at my mother-in-law's house on German tv. It is MIL's birthday on Friday and she has graciously consented to allow my children and I to throw a Royal Wedding party instead of a birthday party. We have imported all manner of tat to decorate the house. I saw that someone asked about this - if you find it funny or distasteful. I have a replica engagement ring which amuses me no end.

I would like to know how you cope with the snide comments in the press about you being Waity Katy. In my circle of friends, it was not unusual to be part of a couple for many years before getting married, and obviously when marrying the heir to the throne, you would want to be sure that you were ready for it.

Did it upset you? Or were you able to laugh it off?

Oh, and [throws choc to distract MNHQ from one poster one question policy] did you watch the TV film?

My DD1 (aged 2.5) wants to know if you have a fairy Godmother because all princesses need a fairy Godmother.

Congratulations and enjoy every little moment of your day.

culturemulcher · 26/04/2011 11:54

Hi Kate,
Congratulations!

You must have been touched that William wanted to give you his mother's engagement ring.

It's a lovely thing to do, but were you concerned about the associations it instantly brought with it? Do you worry that the press already seem determined to turn you into 'another Diana'?

katherine2008 · 26/04/2011 11:54

My little princess (aged 2) and I send you love and luck and for Friday and hope you truly have the best day of your life. On another note, your profile allows you to do so much good and I wondered if you had considered a charitable role which promotes motherhood. Having had a miscarriage last year and met some incredible women here on Mumsnet who have become a huge support to me (now pregnant again - nearly 12 weeks!) - there is such a lack of information on both miscarriage and stillbirth available to women. Would you consider a role which could help women who are going through some extraordinarily hard times?

Thanks!

PureNewWoolWithPerfectStitches · 26/04/2011 11:55

Hello Kate

May I recommend Bach's rescue remedy for those last minute nerves. Worked for me (of course I too have been the centre of attention of 2 billion viewers many a time....urm....not).

Good Luck for Friday. We're all very excited for you in the PureNewWool family Smile

WideWebWitch · 26/04/2011 11:55

Mn, is this a hoax? It's being reported as such on the internet.

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 11:55

If this is a joke I am deregistering and going to netmums.

sharbie · 26/04/2011 11:56

spoof?really?????????

Magna · 26/04/2011 11:56

Calmed down now and thought of my question.

Catherine I am helping to organise a village street party and we are having a face painting stall and trying to choose 3/4 simple designs for the children to pick from. As a little girl did you have a particular favourite picture you always picked if/when you had your face painted or do you have any suggestions?

MmeSurvivedLent · 26/04/2011 11:56

MNHQ
If this is a spoof webchat then I will be sending you the bill for my overseas Internet costs cause I am currently in hospital with DS on my iPhone

southeastastra · 26/04/2011 11:57

\link{https://twitter.com/MumsnetTowers\look} seems a bit pointless

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 11:57

You can't get a girl excited like this.

It is like Christmas in 1986 when my gran promised that she would buy me a Jem doll and instead got me a knocked off Sindy from the market.

Oh Oh Oh - another question.

Do you ride? Always think that must be important if you are joining the Royal Family.

Turniphead1 · 26/04/2011 11:57

MN just admitted on Twitter that this is a windup. I think it's a bit rotten for a website to troll its users. Lots of very heartfelt stuff here. Hope Kate does read some of it anyway.

BalloonSlayer · 26/04/2011 11:57

A spoof?

Thought it might be but I didn't want to miss the chance of posting a question just in case.

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 11:58

Actually this is 10 times worse than the Jem doll.
