Following recent debates on the EastEnders' storyline, and our meeting with BBC executives and two mumsnetters to discuss the baby snatch story, we're delighted Executive Producer of EastEnders, Bryan Kirkwood is joining us to answer your questions this Friday (21st January) between 12 and 1pm. If you're unable to join us at that time, please post your questions to Bryan on this thread.

Crikey - so you can offend a nation of bereaved and non-bereaved parents and women but it is ok because FSID have had extra traffic on their website??

sheesh

DontWorryBaby · 21/01/2011 13:05

I actually feel angrier after that interview than I did beforehand! Good job, well done Mr Kirkwood!

RebeccaMumsnet · 21/01/2011 13:05

Thank you for your time Bryan Kirkwood.

Rubyonthetown · 21/01/2011 13:05

I take back my post of 13.03:42

Actually, it's made me even angrier.

Angry
clarepot · 21/01/2011 13:05

I imagine that is 'positive feedback' for the actors and 'criticism' for the swap.

catinthehat2 · 21/01/2011 13:05

was there an apology in there?

did I miss it?

OracleInaCoracle · 21/01/2011 13:06

well thats ok then. and Im sure that they would have had more visits and donations had you just run with the SIDS storyline.

Im disappointed. as I said earlier, I thought your work on the Hannah Ashworthg anorexia storyline in Hollyoaks was excellent.

Rubyonthetown · 21/01/2011 13:06

Waste of space.

sevendwarves · 21/01/2011 13:06

To all those who have boycotted since this storyline - planning on watching again anytime soon after his answers?

vodkaandcoke · 21/01/2011 13:06

So no apology and we still have no idea when she gets her baby back.

deemented · 21/01/2011 13:07

FSID stated weeks ago that their hitrate had gone up.

So, once again, telling us nothing new.

Mr. Kirkwood, just get into that limo that's waiting outside for you and go back to your ivory tower.

Jesus - you have done yourself or the BBC no good whatsoever with this webchat.

ilythia · 21/01/2011 13:07

Yes. Visits to FSID went up 500%. I am doubtful it was by bereaved parents though.
That's the shittest reason for not apologising I have ever heard. And I have children.

Unimpressed. EE stays off.

OracleInaCoracle · 21/01/2011 13:07

sevendwarves, I only boycotted the funeral. will not be watching in future though now I think.

hana21 · 21/01/2011 13:08

glad i really thought about my question !! what a waste of time

clarepot · 21/01/2011 13:08

I will definitely not be tuning back in :(

deemented · 21/01/2011 13:08

MNHQ - can we have your thoughts on this farce

catinthehat2 · 21/01/2011 13:09

Hope you all feel pretty bad about this utterly embarassing webchat chaps!

boohoohoo · 21/01/2011 13:11

I stopped watching at Christmas and tbh feel bloody free of it, god, that was the most evasive web chat ever!

FanellaFidge · 21/01/2011 13:11

Sevendwarves - the last time I watched was the News Years Eve episode (I was unaware of the storyline). That was the last time, and I have absolutley no intention of watching again. This has just cemented thaat for me.

I have to say - it's good for soul, not watching Smile

Superfly · 21/01/2011 13:11

Vote with your feet. I haven't watched Eastenders for the last few years - and this storyline which has been so insensitively handled has confirmed to me that I shall never watch it again

fatpantsandgladrags · 21/01/2011 13:11

As PR exercises go, I would say that was a particularly bad one.

Summerbird73 · 21/01/2011 13:12

me too Superfly - i stopped watching years ago, but dipped in every now and again.

no more

Thanks MNHQ for having to do this. How disappointing. Bring back Henry Winkler (the Fonz) that was a good one.

deemented · 21/01/2011 13:14

Well that was a facrce from start to finish. He obviously had no intention whatsoever of answering questions. Why bother coming here then?

As an aside i had to bite my tounge several times. Restrained is now my middle name.
