Following recent debates on the EastEnders' storyline, and our meeting with BBC executives and two mumsnetters to discuss the baby snatch story, we're delighted Executive Producer of EastEnders, Bryan Kirkwood is joining us to answer your questions this Friday (21st January) between 12 and 1pm. If you're unable to join us at that time, please post your questions to Bryan on this thread.

Maybe start a thread?

I've just voted Corrie (don't even watch).

You have to vote in all 12 categories, but it's really quick and simple. Gene Hunt in there

I've just read through the 11 pages and all I can say to BK (that complies with webchat rules of being polite/civil) is...
Biscuit

There was nothing new in any of his answers, just the same old hiding behind FSID, we've had a few compliments too (probably only about the acting) and standard answers to fob piss people off more.

I've watched EE loyally for 10yrs+ but the NYE episode was the last one. I cancelled my Sky+ and tbh, I don't miss it!

I love the idea of voting elsewhere for the NTV awards so I'm off to the other thread....

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2011 11:02

umm, why have posts disappeared?

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2011 11:05

they havent ignore me.

BradTittAndFlange · 22/01/2011 11:12

I have voted for Corrie (don't watch, just catch the odd epp), I couldn't resist voting for Lacey though, she is a great actress.

JustineMumsnet · 22/01/2011 11:22

Hi all,
Sorry that was a disappointment to many. I think the problem is that it's quite hard for BBC execs in particular to admit to errors of judgement - they get yelled at for being weak and the DM will be asking for their heads within nano seconds. I do however think our point has been forcefully made and it will make a difference to both this storyline and future treatment of this issue. So don't be too disheartened!

Nb we've deleted personal attacks as per our standard webchat guidelines.

BradTittAndFlange · 22/01/2011 11:25

Justine, so it is a culture at the bbc to not applogise then, sad eh.

FanellaFidge · 22/01/2011 11:37

He should perhaps have not bothered then.

catinthehat2 · 22/01/2011 11:43

Can you hear my racking sobs?
I'm empathising with the life of suffering these BBC execs lead.

catinthehat2 · 22/01/2011 11:45

Really, on the BBC exec front, I am sure I'm not alone if I say

face?bovvered?

Grin

Is there any other way we can get our message across and be taken more seriously??

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2011 12:34

totally agree with swallowedafly.

DanceInTheDark · 22/01/2011 12:46

Wow. How many replies? ABout 6? and all the while missing the important ones.

I don't know about anyone else but i would be willing to be part of a panel that gives their opinion on potential upcoming storylines.

I think i can understand why they went too far on this one. (Sensationalism, headlines, NTAs looming, end of contract, rating etc)

I don't think that the backstory on Ronnie was well known enough to support it, nor do i think she was a strong enough actress to have portrayed it fully. On the otherside, from the few scenes i have seen, Jessie Wallace and Shane Ritchie have been amazing. But that is my personal opinion.

MNHQ - for future webchats can you ask that ALL questions be answered? I don't think the current format works. Its like we post questions, person comes on and then answers questions as they appear after the time stated for the chat. So instead of having BK at HQ from 12-1. Have him from 11-1 or 12-2 but the official "Chat" time is 12 - 1.

Does that make sense? I haven't slept v well!

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2011 12:50

danceinthedark, the problem is, he picked and chose the questions he answered and it looked like he just C&P'd the response in.

FanellaFidge · 22/01/2011 12:51

"I think i can understand why they went too far on this one. (Sensationalism, headlines, NTAs looming, end of contract, rating etc)"

Please see SwallowedAFly's thread...link above Smile

DanceInTheDark · 22/01/2011 13:01

Found the thread - thank you Fanella, i hadn't realised that is what they were for.

LissieLou - lots of webchat guests do that though. I don't think its new is it?

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2011 13:05

they do, but some at least try. i remember being v impressed with Ed M in the labour hustings, where he was honest about labours problems when all the others were trying to pass the buck.

Wow my first deleted post in over 5 years of being here

Not sure that pointing out that I consider someone to be delusional is a personal attack, but never mind.
