We are thrilled to announce that comedian, writer and actor Dawn French will be joining us here at the Towers on Wednesday 3 November, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for a live webchat.
Dawn has appeared in some of the country's most long-running, fave shows including French and Saunders, The Comic Strip Presents?, Vicar of Dibley and most recently, Roger and Val Have Just Got In.
On top of her screen achievements, Dawn's memoir, Dear Fatty, topped the best-selling charts and now her first novel, A Tiny Bit Marvellous, is out and it's more than a tiny bit marvellous that she's joining us for a webchat. Hope you can too, but if you're unable to make it on Wednesday, post your questions here.

Hello Dawn!

Yes, erm, when you were working with Darcey Bussell for the sketch show and Vicar of Dibley, how did you manage not to laugh? Actually, how did you manage to keep a straight face for any of the sketch show?

(And can I be your best friend?)

When I was working with Darcey Bussel, I DID NOT manage not to laugh, in fact we laughed all the time, in fact, we wet our pants. Not very ballerina behaviour, I?m afraid, but I?m not ashamed, and I don?t apologise.

No question - just to say I love you. Grin
And you're very brave coming on here: slebs normally get eaten alive on mumsnet. I'm sure they won't do that to you though.

I quite like Piers Morgan .
Lovely and inappropriate.

Dawn, are you a MNetter? If not, why not?

Yes, I quite like Piers Morgan too, but I wouldn't go with him and no, I'm not an MNetter, because I don't own a computer. Somebody else is typing this for me!

Hello Dawn.

I was wondering what you opinion is on the quality of television drama at the moment. It appears to me there is a depressing lack of 'in' for new writers. Is this due to commissioners being too nervous to take a chance on new talent?

Thanks.

I think that when television drama is good, it?s very good, I especially love American stuff. In answer to your comment about there being a depressing lack of ?in? for new writers, I would say that this has always been the case, and I have no solutions sadly. The problem is lack of budget, presently, I would say.

I'm having a vodka and coke.

It's a sacrifice.

Can I just say thanks for the laughs? I think you are really very wonderful. Can't think of a single question, but I have to mention that there is a lady who works in my local greengrocer's who is the exact spitting image of your character in Jam and Jerusalem.

In fact, I think it's you

Hi Dawn - just want to say I am so glad you are coming in to MN for a webchat. I have no questions but want to say I think you are fab.

What's the secret of your beautiful glossy hair? Ooops - there's a question after all.

No big secret, my tips are as follows:
  1. Grow hair
  2. Cover old grey hair with dye
  3. Use straighteners

Presently using kerastase.
