Help me place this actor??

I saw him on a train. Can’t for the life of me remember who he is.

He’s a British tv actor, probably in his 50s or early 60s. Grey hair, used to be blonde. Piercing blue eyes. Often plays a hero/ love interest type role.

a bit like Greg wise but shorter!

I feel sure he was in a Sunday night drama or a soap or something but I can’t find him online! It’s driving me mad!

Could it be John Michie - formally of taggart and Corrie? It took me ages to place him when I saw him at the beach last summer - puzzled me for days until I had a eureka moment!!

I think I may have never actually seen him n anything, just seen him in photos. Maybe I thought he was northern because of Corrie. I did say ‘soft northern’ … in my defence

I'm so pleased you've found him. I think it was his daughter who died from dodgy drugs at a festival. A young girl if I remember correctly.

I’m started to think the OP might have actually just seen an entirely non famous chap on her train because the description given really doesn’t match the answer. I mean John Michie can’t have shrunk a foot, developed a new accent, had surgery to fill in his cleft chin and changed eye colour can he?
