Help me place this actor??

I saw him on a train. Can’t for the life of me remember who he is.

He’s a British tv actor, probably in his 50s or early 60s. Grey hair, used to be blonde. Piercing blue eyes. Often plays a hero/ love interest type role.

a bit like Greg wise but shorter!

I feel sure he was in a Sunday night drama or a soap or something but I can’t find him online! It’s driving me mad!

I just have a hunch that Daniel Craig doesn't often go on trains in the UK. Poor guy would get no peace.

Haven’t read through all the suggestions but could it be Gary Mavers who played Dr Andrew Attwood in Peak Practice? Have seen a publicity shot of him with folded arms in front of Yorkshire countryside but don’t know how to add it here!

Julian Glover is 86, so I doubt it's him.

I'd also suggest David Essex but op said northern accent. He was in a soap recently wasn't he? X

Oh how about Rufus Sewell - stunning blue eyes, not blond though and probably too posh.
He doesn't have blue eyes; they're green/brown/hazel. Unusual and very beautiful.
