We are meeting four of his school friends outside to sing happy birthday. I’m quite friendly with two of the mums. I’ve got an hour and a half to go and choose a supermarket cake and apologise to DS (5 years old) OR style it out. I’ve got fondant dinosaurs to stick round the bottom layer too.

What would you do??

Happy birthday to your DS Cake

Neonprint · 10/05/2021 20:08

Aww yuu styles it out really well. Home made always tastes better too. I'm sure your ds loved it!

btchymcbtchfce · 10/05/2021 20:09

No comment bout the cake but we have the same tiles so you clearly have impeccable taste.

I honestly want a bit of that cake. It's hideous and brilliant and I want to eat it GrinGrinGrin

Fabulous thread.

I'm glad ds had a great birthday with his brilliant cake, made with love.

You must send a pic to Bake Off - An Extra Slice.

I look forward to your creation next year, op Grin

I’ve still got half a volcano cake sitting in the kitchen, but it’s definitely the best tasting cake I’ve ever made! I’ll have to up the stakes next year clearly.

I still don’t quite know what happened, I am no top baker but they usually are amateur but acceptable! Paw patrol cake for his 3rd birthday and then a sweet filled train cake for his 4th. I think it was just too ambitious!!

Spectacular cakes! You’ll need to start planning next year’s early though, if you want to top the volcano 🙂

Popcornbetty · 11/05/2021 13:13

Oh wow, it's lovely to see all the effort you've made every year op and what awesome cakes! I made dc1's 2nd, 3rd, 4th cakes with various themes and dc2's 1st birthday cake and going to make his 2nd one aswell. Loads of people have said just buy a one but bought ones aren't half as nice or exciting (not store bought anyway)! I'm good at making the actual cake but decorating is a real challenge for me but i try and go with the 'chuck a load of stuff at it until it looks okay' method.

Mumblechum0 · 11/05/2021 13:15

I love it!

Who is the cake with the bones for? Please tell me this was a birthday party for a dog.

De88 · 11/05/2021 16:06

Aww glad a good time was had! Tbh I pictured something very phallic looking when I saw your thread title so was slightly disappointed to see a volcano looking cake!

Hersetta427 · 11/05/2021 16:45

Honestly a 5 yr old won't give two figs. It's a yummy chocolate cake that looks enormous.

Get stuck in and enjoy.

Op said it’s a Paw Patrol cake
