BlushBlush

We are meeting four of his school friends outside to sing happy birthday. I’m quite friendly with two of the mums. I’ve got an hour and a half to go and choose a supermarket cake and apologise to DS (5 years old) OR style it out. I’ve got fondant dinosaurs to stick round the bottom layer too.

What would you do??

It's fabulous! The kids will be open mouthed because of its size, and the dinosaurs. The mums will be open mouthed because it's a marvel! Enjoy your afternoon!

dementedma · 10/05/2021 14:33

I genuinely thing its great!

PutOnAHappyFace · 10/05/2021 14:36

I honestly love it. Some of my DCs favourite cakes are the ones I've very very badly created. I'm sure your DS is gonna love it.

GameSetMatch · 10/05/2021 14:42

Your son won’t care what it looks like, he’ll just be happy mummy made him a volcano cake! be proud of your creation

Dasher789 · 10/05/2021 14:44

with all the dinosaurs and the mat i think it looks fantastic - you can really picture the scene. if i was a kid, id take that cake every day over a perfect but bland supermarket effort. enjoy!!!

1forAll74 · 10/05/2021 14:47

It looks like someone has been sick all over the top already, but never the less, it's a work of art.

CorpusCallosum · 10/05/2021 14:49

That looks amazing with all the props!! It's a perfect cake for a 5yo 🙌

FatCatThinCat · 10/05/2021 14:50

The only thing that cake needs is one of those massive sparkler thingies. Then it'd be a perfect volcano cake.

AlohaMolly · 10/05/2021 14:52

DS prefers the Tesco cake SadGrin

get one of those cake top candle/sparkler things that goes off like a rocket and it'll be fine!

DownWhichOfLate · 10/05/2021 14:55

But what do his friends and the other mums prefer?!

AlohaMolly · 10/05/2021 14:56

We aren’t meeting till 4 so he’s got about 45 minutes to change his mind 😂

I think is fantastic. Well done for the effort and care you put in xx

SnowdaySewday · 10/05/2021 14:57

If you're going to Tesco anyway, buy some cola and some Mentoes. Drop the Mentoes into the cola and you'll have your volcano.

Kitsmummy · 10/05/2021 15:01

If you drop the Tesco cake it will look the same anyway Grin. Seriously though, I love it.

I would add some Lego characters running down the volcano to escape the lava.

You cannot go with the Tesco cake, that would be a crying shame!

Mama1980 · 10/05/2021 15:06

Your ds will love it! It's amazing. I can't bake - I'm crap really crap but he always get excited by the cake I make - and he's 13 lol.
This shows the thought and effort. Plus it's gonna taste a million times better than a Tesco cake that tastes of cardboard.

inisfree · 10/05/2021 15:06

EPIC!!!!!

MishMashMummy · 10/05/2021 15:09

It is amazing - a few dinosaurs will be the icing on the (glorious) cake. Carry it in with pride!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/05/2021 15:10

The cake is fab!

Ps. Also love those drink dispensers!

AlohaMolly · 10/05/2021 15:15

Update - he’s changed his mind and wants the big cake now he knows the orange but isn’t slimy!

Awww of course that’s an important point to have clarified!

I love the Lego man idea - definitely do that.

PollyPocket245 · 10/05/2021 15:19

If someone make me that I’d be made up!!! It’s amazing! Bless you for giving it a go. I can’t bake anything!

roguetomato · 10/05/2021 15:22

That looks amazing. Have a great time and happy birthday!

TheStarMachine · 10/05/2021 15:23

I absolutely love this! I hope it tastes amazing!

takingmytimeonmyride · 10/05/2021 15:23

I would totally not judge any mum who presented that cake for a birthday party. I made my eldests 1st birthday cake and gave up after that, shop bought all the way! It's great, and it's what it tastes like that matters!
