It is one o clock in the morning, I need the night shift to mind my worries whilst I sleep....

I am 50% of the way through chemo. (second time around)(different primary)

My DS (18) has just been diagnosed with depression I think me being diagnosed again was the tipping point.

Due to above I am having to delegate Christmas, it will get done, it did before just not my way.

DH retiring in three years, should be more than enough to live on, but at the moment I am worrying (Like I couldn't worry about that closer to the time) Hmm

Sausage rolls, my job, ditto mince pies.........if they don't happen my DH and my DS will suck it up. Just me worrying.

DS struggling in college and have to go to a meeting on Wednesday

So if some of the night shift would like to come and mind my ,worries whilst I attempt to sleep, it would be gratefully received.

Feel free to add your own, just writing that down has helped.

@movinggoalposts I'm up and got my first coffee. I've got you. Come here worries. Sit quietly while I get ready for work. You will be drowned out when we take a train ride.

You go sleep. Close your eyes. Hear that silence?

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 20/12/2019 15:06

Oh movinggoalposts you poor thing! I'm still up, 2018 and I will take the load Thanks the ones with me are being gently rocked to sleep alongside my baby boy, who is refusing to nap - maybe the company will do him good x get some rest

girlofthenorth · 20/12/2019 20:02

I can look after some worries for the evening shift

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/12/2019 20:42

If someone can take 'really worrisome meeting this evening' I can take the next few hours after that. And I'd love to take some for my run tomorrow.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 20/12/2019 21:00

There’s a nice comfy spot next to me on the sofa MrsT. It’s big enough to take any worries. The cat will watch them with me.

BuddhaAtSea · 20/12/2019 21:02

Give us your worries, I’m taking the dog for the last walk of the day, got a massive field to loose your worries in!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 21/12/2019 03:34

That's me done with work for the week. Ended with a very lovely happy hour. Hic.

Promise I'm in good enough shape to take any worries and put them to rights tonight. Give them over. There. Now you rest.

If I'm totally honest I'm in denial worrying about how I get through this Christmas and new year knowing my mum is gone. I keep pushing that worry down. And down. Maybe one of you lovely souls could take that one for tonight. I need to unpack it or give up to it or something. Just not ready yet. I'm very far away from my family and don't know that I can do this without them.

wonkytonkwoman · 21/12/2019 03:54

Can I leave a couple here please?
I'm worried about my adult DD and that she might have a genetic condition which predisoses her to developing cancer from her DF's side. And I don't know how to raise genetic counselling with her without scaring her silly.
I'm worried about my DF who's got quite advanced dementia and who won't accept any help because he's terrified of being put into care.

fligglepige · 21/12/2019 04:12

@2018SoFarSoGreat and @wonkytonkwoman I've got your worries gathered up in a big soft ball and will keep them safe til morning. Rest your weary heads.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 21/12/2019 04:39

Fliggle thank you. I know they are in good hands.

anxioussue · 21/12/2019 05:17

Checking in...can identify with worries about patents with dementia Thanks

iMatter · 21/12/2019 07:40

I'm out with my sons today doing some last minute shopping/Christmas markets.

I'm very happy to take any of your worries with me so you can rest.

FinallyHere · 21/12/2019 07:42

Checking in, ready to pick up any worries to leave you free to get on with your day.

The one at the back of my mind remains about DH, whether he really is ill (been having tests in UK first private, now public sector health care all year) or maybe simply not facing up to old age. Nothing really I can do about that one, just get on with life while we see what happens.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 21/12/2019 08:32

I’m also happy to take any worries out for a long walk along the riverbank and a hot chocolate on the way home.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 21/12/2019 10:03

I am happy to hold your worries with me whilst I make sausage rolls and listen to Perry Como's Christmas album.

I have listened to it every year for 55 years.

Beautiful, beautiful thread.

MrsMozartMkII · 21/12/2019 11:29

Picking up whatever needs looking after - I'll be driving for a few hours and checking in on the horses (in a field so only need an eye casting over), therefore am free for sitting on anything that needs taking off someone's hands.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/12/2019 11:51

Well I’ve just come home to a flooded kitchen and decided to have a healthy breakfast, so used a superfood ‘sprinkle’ on my food. Just read the potential seed effects - diarrhoea, green poo, cramps...1

I suspect I may have some spare time late in the loo...

HannaYeah · 21/12/2019 15:17

I’m making a frittata for breakfast, drinking coffee with DH and watching Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln. Send your worries here for a while and I’ll mind them.

Also, can someone take one big of mine? It’s a worry about a child being treated fairly and grownups doing the right thing.

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 21/12/2019 16:28

Hanna I'll take yours, I'm likely to be up late with a baby who hates sleep, so your worried will spend the evening being gently rocked down to the sounds of love actually while I hopefully get some presents wrapped

FinallyHere · 21/12/2019 16:39

This thread has been a highlight of the season for me. I've not see any objections, so will nominate it for classics.

Shall report my next post.

FinallyHere · 21/12/2019 16:40

Hello lovely MN HQ and seasons greetings.

I've asked and had no objections, would like to nominate this thread for classics.

Thank you kindly xx

2018SoFarSoGreat · 21/12/2019 18:42

Fliggle I had a lovely sleep. No dreams that made me sit straight up with shaking and pounding heart. Thank you.

Today I'm finishing my wrapping and watching my first Christmas film. I will be sitting at the dining table, five extra comfy seats, so send your worries over here. I will make them mind their manners, and threaten to tape their mouths if they pipe up too often.

WTCT · 21/12/2019 18:54

I saw this the other night. I had no huge worries of my own (a rare event in recent times), but was just snoozing off so couldn’t take care of anyone else’s worries.

I will keep checking back though, ready to look after someone else’s worries.

A beautiful thread.

Joyfulincolour · 21/12/2019 20:28

Hello, I’m checking in for the night. I have space under a soft fluffy blanket for any worries that need minding tonight. It’s my “comfort blanket “ but there is enough of it to go round and I can hide several worries under here.
