I am 50% of the way through chemo. (second time around)(different primary)

My DS (18) has just been diagnosed with depression I think me being diagnosed again was the tipping point.

Due to above I am having to delegate Christmas, it will get done, it did before just not my way.

DH retiring in three years, should be more than enough to live on, but at the moment I am worrying (Like I couldn't worry about that closer to the time) Hmm

Sausage rolls, my job, ditto mince pies.........if they don't happen my DH and my DS will suck it up. Just me worrying.

DS struggling in college and have to go to a meeting on Wednesday

So if some of the night shift would like to come and mind my ,worries whilst I attempt to sleep, it would be gratefully received.

Feel free to add your own, just writing that down has helped.

I can mind some too. I'm awake working on a job application so happy to tuck a few away in my drawer and dressing gown.

HannaYeah · 23/01/2020 02:42

@NumbersStation
Glad to hear it! Grin

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 02:45

I initially found peace with them when bbc4 stopped transmission at 0400 hrs. Not terribly much peace though as the alarm was usually warbling at 0445 Smile

I think cats are far too superior to even consider woo. Wink

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 02:47

Ah now that is grand @wheresmyrunningshoes Smile

All the very best for your application SmileFlowers

maldivemoment · 23/01/2020 05:18

It worked! I'm awake now but I slept through from 12. I'll take that as a success. Yay! huge thanks.

I may just doze for an hour or so now...

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 05:23

I’m glad you had a night of unbroken sleep - short but sweet? And an hour or so to play with a snooze button or waiting for the alarm proper is a little bonus. Smile

maldivemoment · 23/01/2020 05:52

Couldn't have down it without you numbers Thanks

2018SoFarSoGreat · 23/01/2020 06:29

Im full of the cold and a snotty grotty mess but it is warm and cosy in my room. Clean linens, soft fluffy quilt and marvelous combination of soft, softer and softest pillows. No velvet worry bag but when the light goes out my sneaky little kitty will stealthily pad her way up to snuggle my back. There is inevitably a valley, into which an amazing number of worries can fit. send them over!

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 06:35

I am thankfully unsnotty. Only a little hacking cough to get rid of.

Sleep well @2018SoFarSoGreat - you and your fluffy backwarmer.

I’ve still 3 hours to go but the pillow sirens are calling me. 😴

HettySunshine · 23/01/2020 06:58

This is the most beautiful thread I have ever read.

LollipopViolet · 23/01/2020 18:17

This thread is actually magic. Thanks for minding the worries @NumbersStation I had a lovely sleep, and did some stuff at work that helped ease the fear. Will be here til around 9.30 tonight if anyone needs me to watch their worries for a bit :)

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 19:38

I am so glad you had a restful sleep @LollipopViolet and I’m thrilled to hear that work went well too SmileFlowers. Lovely stuff!

PamelaPeaches · 23/01/2020 19:57

Do you know what - it really helped me fall asleep too. Really felt like someone had my back and could watch over whilst I slept soundly. Magic. Thank you lovely and kind people on here. Woke up today feeling loads better and want to repay the favour (thank you so much numbers - I loved reading your message). Happy to take a load off, if anyone wants to head off for an early night and park some worries at the bedroom door. Hit me with your worries. Go.

PamelaPeaches · 23/01/2020 20:09

P.s. very much bowing down to the excellent and experienced Queen and Numbers on this thread - reporting for duty as a trainee (and just to share the load if needed 😁)

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 21:16

That is grand to hear @PamelaPeaches

I think letting go of worries and things spinning round in your head must help - and @NaomiFromMilkShake (thread goddess) was onto an absolute blinder with this thread.

Back at work tonight again so I’ll be popping in and out.

To all of the worry guardians and to those who entrust is with their troubles.

May we all travel light Flowers x

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 21:23

I am here because I can’t bear the thought of anyone feeling sad in the dark on their own.

I’ve had many nights where misery and silent tears have been overwhelming and grief is all encompassing.

No one needs to feel as though they are alone. And usually there is refuge in sleep.

And thanks to this thread there is always someone hovering to lighten the load. And that is a beautiful thing. 🌷

QueenOfIce · 23/01/2020 21:23

Myself and my trusty pink bag are back reporting for duty..I'm having a got chocolate later so I can drown a few in there too.

DramaAlpaca · 23/01/2020 21:54

I've been absent from the thread for a while thanks to a few annoying worries of my own but we won't talk about them but I'm back now in full fettle and am ready, willing and able to mind worries, provide handholds, brew virtual Brew or whatever is needed. Bring 'em on Smile

NumbersStation · 23/01/2020 23:10

Not talking about them - promise.

Hope all is well (or manageable) now @DramaAlpaca Flowers

maldivemoment · 23/01/2020 23:18

Hello! I'm back again tonight but this time instead of asking you to sit with my worries, I'm going to sit with yours. Whoever's needs looking after for a while. Tonight it's my turn to be the worry guardian.

I am feeling much better, both physically and emotionally than I have the past week or so, and that's no doubt in part down to you lovely lot.

So, I'm currently in a king size bed (just me at the moment 😊) which means there's lots of room for me to take your worries. I'm hunkered down with a book. The covers have been thrown back. Send your worries my way.

flirtingwith40 · 24/01/2020 00:09

@NumbersStation and @QueenOfIce thank you so much for minding my insecurities last night, I can't believe what a difference it made to me in a dark hour, and I got to sleep pretty quickly after I read your messages.
(And even better some of them haven't found their way back from the pink bag)

This thread is so lovely, I will definitely be returning to help mind other people's worries in the near future.

Goodnight everyone. I hope you all have a peaceful sleep.

Thank you again Thanks Thanks

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 24/01/2020 00:16

Reporting for duty along with my feline fiend. I’m also happy to share in the minding overnight, there’s plenty of room in the bed. As an added treat I’ve got freshly laundered bedding so your worries may not want to leave tomorrow.
Sleep well lovely people.

NumbersStation · 24/01/2020 00:27

Hush now with your talk of lovely fresh beds and comfiness! I have 10 hours until I get back to mine!

Looks like I have an eventful shift so I bid you all a lovely sleep in your dream chariots. May all worries find themselves in the pink worry bag or as a dangly thing to be batted into oblivion by the feline guardians among us Flowers

2018SoFarSoGreat · 24/01/2020 00:39

I will send you good thoughts as you work, @NumbersStation. You can do it!

Today I stayed mostly supine, in deference to my stinking cold, but tomorrow I shall return to work, even if I have to hide in my office.

Send me any worries this evening. They shall be confused/riveted/shocked/bored as we continue to watch the impeachment trial of He Who Should Not Be President.

That'll learn 'em, as my granny would say. They shall most likely flee, never to be seen or heard of again. That's a good result!

gingerchaos · 24/01/2020 00:44

I think any worries would run a mile at the sight of your president, I'd say that politics over there is a laughing stock but let he who is without sin cast the first stone and all that.....
