I am 50% of the way through chemo. (second time around)(different primary)

My DS (18) has just been diagnosed with depression I think me being diagnosed again was the tipping point.

Due to above I am having to delegate Christmas, it will get done, it did before just not my way.

DH retiring in three years, should be more than enough to live on, but at the moment I am worrying (Like I couldn't worry about that closer to the time) Hmm

Sausage rolls, my job, ditto mince pies.........if they don't happen my DH and my DS will suck it up. Just me worrying.

DS struggling in college and have to go to a meeting on Wednesday

So if some of the night shift would like to come and mind my ,worries whilst I attempt to sleep, it would be gratefully received.

Feel free to add your own, just writing that down has helped.

I love this thread. Wish I'd found it at 3 am and I could have minded someones worry or two for a few hours..

HebeMumsnet · 27/12/2019 10:40

Morning, worry guardians. We've had a few nominations for this thread to be moved to Classics. As it doesn't look like anyone here objects, we'll do that now.

Ninkanink · 27/12/2019 10:56

❤️❤️❤️ to all. What a wonderful thread.

Worry Guardian Blush I love that! Reporting for duty, we are doing the obligatory Christmas long drive across the country, any worries welcome to share the journey and be bored into submission

NaomiFromMilkShake · 27/12/2019 14:50

I am home from round three of chemo, only one more to go, I plan on snoozing for the afternoon but will check in later.

Great thread . Has saved me from getting too anxious over Christmas!
@NaomiFromMilkShake have a rest and I'll take any worries to the hospital to pick up my dad - I can pop a few in the bins that aren't required .

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 27/12/2019 15:19

Oh Naomi, congratulations! You just snuggle up cosy and relax Thanks I wish I could make it easier for you

2018SoFarSoGreat · 27/12/2019 16:49

Well done mumsnet. Worry guardians. I love that.

I've felt able to cope, much calmer this year. I do believe it is because I know I can ask for help here if needed.

Worry Guardian signing on for duty ❤️

Joyfulincolour · 27/12/2019 16:57

Well done Naomi. Hope you're resting with ease.

ChristmassySpice · 27/12/2019 20:10

This has easily been the most lovely and altruistic thread I've seen on MN for weeks. Well done MNHQ for putting it in Classics. And for calling the posters Worry Guardians. My DD (only jusy aged 8) has had to see the school nurse for anxiety relating to things that have happened to her recently. She calls them 'The Worry People' and it's done her the world of good.

I have a few worries myself. But I've convinced myself that all will be good. So if anyone wants to leave their worries with me tonight, that's fine. I'll take them.

And well done Naomi. You're nearly there!
Much love to you. And to all of the people on this thread.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 27/12/2019 20:12

I am sitting here watching University Challenge, I can't answer most of the questions, so feel free to leave your worries here, I will definitely be checking in. 😂

I had a terrible night last night because my worries kept me awake but I'm hoping for a better night tonight. I've got some podcasts to listen to just in case so if anyone needs their worries minding they can listen to podcasts with me and I'll return them in the morning.

Sleep well lovely people

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 27/12/2019 21:29

Glad you’re nearly finished @NaomiFromMilkShake. When’s your last session?
Worry Guardian signing in for the night shift.
We put the second series of You on earlier. I got 5 minutes in and then slept through 3 episodes Blush.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 27/12/2019 22:16

January 15th, should feel more human by middle of February. 🤞

Then radio in March, but that should be easy enough.

@NaomiFromMilkShake, I’ll be here next time when you’re feeling a bit rough ❤️

In the meantime, I really need to sleep. Could a guardian keep my worries for me till the morning when I scatter them at Parkrun? I’m getting anxiety again and it wakes me up at 3 am. My heart’s been broken and what keeps me up is the worry I might not be able to mend it. I can’t quite look after myself with kindness at the moment. So I’d like a bit of sleep So I can see clearly again. Thank you!Brew

Pepperama · 27/12/2019 23:04

@buddhaatsea, don’t worry, leave them with me, I’ll look after them for the night. Sleep tight!

BuddhaAtSea · 27/12/2019 23:07

@Pepperama, thank you so much!

BadEyeBri · 27/12/2019 23:37

This is beautiful. I'm wide awake after a foolish 6pm coffee. I'm happy to take some worries, big or small, and bore them with my over caffeinated chat. I'm back at work tomorrow so I'll can drop them back on my commute. Take care everyone

NaomiFromMilkShake · 28/12/2019 17:46

I am here ready and waiting. Quins and Leicester on in the background.

I am having a tea party for 12 of my staff tomorrow. At my house, and for some crazy reason am baking loads of things. Half of the guests are vegan. I don't go in the kitchen the rest of the year, except to make coffee. I know I shall not rest for the the rest of today nor sleep a wink tonight. Can one of you please hold onto these silly little worries for a wee while?

I do have lots of chocolate, purchased vegan cupcakes, tea and booze. What else is really necessary? Not like they will quit their jobs because I throw a lousy afternoon tea Blush

NaomiFromMilkShake · 28/12/2019 23:47

All will be well, go to sleep and it will all seem doable in the morning.

So glad to read your news, Naomi.

I’m here and can take some worries now. Just send them to me and I’ll put them to bed here, US time. All the better if they get jet-lag, or get lost and can’t find their way back to you.

I sent two big worries off to you all and both are now completely gone. It’s amazing. It’s not that the problems are solved, but that I just stopped ruminating on them.

YearofMisAdventure · 29/12/2019 22:54

I'm here if anyone needs worries minding.

I'm mainly worried if I can sleep and do a big thing that needs tackling tomorrow.

It's silly, but often the small worries are the big ones displaced.

Sleep well warriors Flowers

girlofthenorth · 29/12/2019 23:40

Hope your party went well 2018 . I might leave some worries here if that's okay I'm worried about my temperature being up after my illness, it's just taking ages to go. Worried about being off sick. Worried about going back. Happy to take some tomorrow if I can I have some here for now.
