So NC for this as not sure if neighbours are on here.

I am off today & woke up to the sound of doors banging and loud voices.

Have a glance out of bedroom window & there are 2 vans & a land rover parked on my ACTUAL drive!

Now I guess it's easily mistaken as a public car park Hmmso don't say anything immediately but once I'm up and toddler is dressed I go downstairs to see.

My next door neighbours are away on holiday. But of a weird driveway as their house has its own but it's round the back of ours and ours is at front so if you use sat nav it brings you to ours as their house is other side of our driveway ifyswim.

Diagram to show you what I mean.

Anyway they are unloading tools etc onto big sheets on my drive and walking over grass to neighbours

I said to them it was a private drive and could they move onto neighbours and they said they won't be long Angry

I was too shocked to say much more than 'no please move now'

Grrrrrrr!

They won't care that they're blocked in until they want to leave - and I suspect they think if they kick off/shout the OP will quickly move. OP - go out for a long, long walk! Don't come back until about 7pm.

Sparklfairy · 07/08/2019 13:31

I won't pay a premium to live in a house that has a driveway... I'll just use one of the neighbours drives instead Hmm

DontBeOffensive · 07/08/2019 13:32

Sorry about the DM link but maybe you should claim harassment like this guy!!

Battytwatty · 07/08/2019 13:32

BOOM. Are you a white van man?

IvanaPee · 07/08/2019 13:33

I can see the new diagram and it is a thing of beauty! Brava!

Ok. So you and toddler are napping but he won’t give a shit until it’s time to go home.

If it was me, I’d leave around 4. Close gates behind you and see if you can’t stay out until bedtime. I really would.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/08/2019 13:34

I disagree Beaver - OP should not be forced ut of her home. She should just wet her lips with sherry (oh - okay, fish a bottle full if you like OP and then refuse to get behind the wheel because of Strong Drink Reasons.

Also she can't find the car key because Small Boy has been playing with it, so she can't just give it to Wanky Builders to move her car.

I would definitely hide a few tools and deny all knowledge even if it meant blaming an Innocent Child.

And I'd tell the said Innocent Child to stick a potato up the exhaust pie.

MrsLumsden · 07/08/2019 13:34

We have the misfortune to live next door to a shop and even the fact we have a fence and "Private no Parking" signs people still think it is fine for park there...…...My favourite come back to "oh I'll only be a minute" is to ask for their home address, when they ask why I just say "so that when we are in the area we can park on your drive and pop off for a coffee and bit of light shopping...…..Now move"! Grrrrr I feel your pain!

boomshakalak · 07/08/2019 13:34

@QualCheckBot

Yes, I do respect other people's property. I think that a generally laid back approach to life is easier. I wouldn't park on someone else's driveway but I wouldn't be bothered if next doors workman parked on mine.

Life can be really shitty at times - sweating the small stuff doesn't help (IMO).

M3lon · 07/08/2019 13:35

among the many other things wrong with a DM article, that one has no diagram! Shock

boomshakalak · 07/08/2019 13:36

@Battytwatty

I'm not a white van man. Just someone who thinks this kind
Of thing ain't worth getting too worked up about.

It does fascinate me to see how riled up people get though!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/08/2019 13:36

*pipe - not pie

(Mmmm - now I want pie . . . )

boom I think the point is that the smallness of having someone randomly invade your personal space varies enormously from person to person...and on the nature of the space invaded...

I mean I'm not personally bothered if my DH cheats on me...I'm just not really wired that way. But I can accept that the majority of people are very bothered by that and empathise with them about it!

HJWT2 · 07/08/2019 13:37

So how did they get in front of your car if the gates are behind your car ? So confused maybe just stupid

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/08/2019 13:39

I mean I'm not personally bothered if my DH cheats on me...I'm just not really wired that way. Huh? Nope... can't see that happening!

PegasusReturns · 07/08/2019 13:43

Neither carpet fitting or oven cleaning are particularly long jobs. Hopefully he has another job to get to this afternoon and will find being blocked in very inconvenient.

LG93 · 07/08/2019 13:44

Shamelessly placemarking!!

thejudgesaidhewasatitandIagree · 07/08/2019 13:46

I'd take photos of them parked and post them on their social media asking what the fuck they're playing at.

IvanaPee · 07/08/2019 13:46

Do NOT move for him. Seriously don’t. Say you’ve had a drink or your toddler lost your keys!

IvanaPee · 07/08/2019 13:46

I'd take photos of them parked and post them on their social media asking what the fuck they're playing at.

This too!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 07/08/2019 13:48

I can see this conversation when your Dh gets home & asks what you’ve been up to today “making diagrams for a bunch of mnetters tah dah” op will then flourish the aforementioned diagrams Grin

StarJumpsandaHalf · 07/08/2019 13:49

Boom if you just let it go when someone bullies you, they will never stop bullying you and that's no fun at all. Why on earth would let someone bully you without standing up for yourself?

This.
What if you came home and they were having their break using your garden furniture and maybe the hot tub?

It's the total lack of respect for another human being and their possessions and PP are damn right, if a man had gone out to him, he'd definitely have moved.

FirstTimeToddlerMum · 07/08/2019 13:50

Sorry builder I won't be moving anything for you but DH will be home at X time if you want to pop back and chance your luck then Smile

ControversialFerret · 07/08/2019 13:54

I can't believe the arsehole hasn't moved yet!

inlectorecumbit · 07/08/2019 13:56

Best MN diagram ever...
